Red Monster

Chapter 183: Accidental Discovery

The thought of getting the loot from the Kobold Challenger was thrown to the back of his mind. The Chief might tolerate his behavior most of the time, but that was until he crossed the line. Getting that loot might be considered crossing the line, especially given the established condition between the two of them.

Red suppressed his greed and focused on the task in his hand. He separated the pile into two smaller piles of red and blue cores. Just as he expected, he got more Magic Cores than Might Cores. He had 122 Might Cores and 144 Magic Cores.

He would have a lot of excess Magic Cores since his Magic Stats were already on the threshold.

"So how do I get more Might Cores?" That was frustrating because he would not have a place to store the excess. His Storage Pouch was already full.

There was nothing he could do about it but start to absorb the cores before him. He started with the Might Cores.

It took 26 Mediocre Might Cores to max out all his Might Stat, more than he expected. He thought it would only take 24, with a max of 25 cores, but it was 26 cores.

[You have reached level 25!]

[You have reached level 26!]

[You have reached level 27!]

[You have reached level 28!]

Red predicted that he would jump four levels or even more since his Magic Stats were initially already at the threshold. But that was it; he didn’t have enough Might Cores. There were only 22 Mediocre Might Cores left. That was not enough, as he needed 24 Might Cores minimum, and 26 Might Cores to guarantee reaching the threshold.

That annoyed him; just two more Might Cores, and he would reach level 29. Meanwhile, he still had 70 Mediocre Quality Magic Cores. A lot of excess, as he guessed. He still had twenty of them in his Storage Pouch, but he remembered that he also had five Might Cores leftover from the previous ones.

Five plus twenty-two, twenty-seven. He had enough to go through to level 29. He took out the five leftovers and started absorbing them all. It took him exactly 26 Might Cores for his Might Stats to reach the threshold. Then it took 25 Magic Cores to max all his Magic Stats.

[You have reached level 29!]

Red grinned ear to ear as he jumped five levels. He still had 1 Might Core and 65 Magic Cores leftover, including the cores in his pouch. He absorbed more Magic Cores because he didn’t have enough slots to store all of them.

Another 25 Magic Cores disappeared, leaving him with 40 cores. He absorbed the last three Magic Cores so he could take the three empty slots for his Magic Cores. 30 cores took the remaining three available slots in his Storage Pouch, and that left him 10 Mediocre Magic Cores.

"What will happen if I force them into my pouch?"

The purpose behind that idea was to use the Storage Pouch as a normal pouch. He regarded the pouch as a normal pouch instead of a magical pouch, and wished to carry the ten cores in his pouch, not putting them in the slot.

There would be two outcomes: either the cores would be ejected forcefully, or he could put them inside the pouch normally. However, his Storage Pouch had something different stored for him when he tried to put the ten cores in forcefully.

[You have the required materials to upgrade the Storage Pouch: 25 Mediocre Quality Magic Cores.]

[Do you want to upgrade the Storage Pouch?]

Red paused for a moment, his eyes glued to the required materials: 25 Mediocre Quality Magic Cores. That was worth one level of Magic Stats. It pained him to part ways with 25 cores, but that would resolve his issue of not having a space to keep the excess Magic Cores.

He let out a sigh and willed it, agreeing to upgrade his pouch.

[25 Mediocre Quality Magic Cores are consumed directly from the pouch!]

[You have successfully upgraded the Storage Pouch!]

Red used Appraisal on his Storage Pouch, wanting to see what was new with the upgraded version. He expected more slots.

[Appraisal has reached level 20!]

He ignored the level up, focusing on his Storage Pouch.

Storage Pouch (Growth Item)

Condition: Perfect

Grade: Common+

Description: Can store items up to fifteen slots. Smaller items can be stacked depending on the size. A big-sized item might take two or more slots.

His Storage Pouch’s grade went up to Common+ from Common. Then he noticed the description changed. His storage now had up to fifteen slots, five extra slots.

He finally understood what Growth Item meant. He forgot about those little details after getting the pouch. Back then, his village was under attack and didn’t have time to check the pouch out and find out what the Growth Item meant. He forgot about it after the battle was over, and he accidentally found out a way to expand his Storage Pouch. The cost was steep, and it might cost more for the next upgrade.

Red shook his head, and that was for his future self to think about. He somehow resolved the issue of where to keep his excess magic cores. He used them for another thing and gained five extra slots for his Storage Pouch. After that, he focused back on his Status.

Aside from his new level, he heard more notifications during the battle; he ignored them. His Mana Authority went up by one level, and his Bow Mastery went up by one level. The most recent one was his Appraisal; Burst Leap also reached level 2. Hitting a headshot truly helped him level up his Bow Mastery more quickly.
