"But..."

Reggie Hale hesitated. "This isn’t really my place to tell Wyatt Sherman, is it?"

After all, while they knew each other, they weren’t close enough to meddle in his private affairs, especially something like this.

"So what?" Cindy Underwood wasn’t about to let this chance to get back at Cecilia Sterling slip by. She grabbed Reggie Hale’s arm and tried to persuade him with a serious expression. "If you didn’t know, that would be one thing. But now that you do, won’t you feel uneasy keeping it to yourself? Besides, I’m not asking you to tell them to break up. Just giving him a little warning is enough to do your part as a friend. He’s an adult, and the final decision is his to make, right?"

Cindy’s words seemed to sway Reggie.

He mulled it over and nodded. "You have a point. I should probably give him a little heads-up. If he still refuses to see the light after that, then it’s got nothing to do with me."

"Exactly. My boyfriend should have that kind of sense of justice." Cindy smiled, satisfied.

Reggie smiled back, then his gaze shifted to the black camisole in Cindy’s hands. "You like this one? I’ll buy it for you!"

"Okay. I’ll be wearing it for you, after all," Cindy said in a coquettish tone.

Cecilia Sterling and Wyatt Sherman went to see a movie together. Wyatt had picked it out—a drama titled "Good Things," told from the perspective of multiple female characters.

The film explored many of modern society’s more sensitive, even taboo, topics concerning women: divorce, single motherhood, dysfunctional families of origin, period shaming, open relationships, sexual desire, one-night stands, and so on.

It presented these subjects frankly, framed as a light comedy, and Cecilia found it deeply moving.

What surprised her even more was that Wyatt, a guy, had done his homework and chosen this particular film.

"That was a really good movie. I’ll probably watch it again sometime."

At the theater entrance, Cecilia praised Wyatt sincerely. "You did your research. Picking such a feminist-leaning film out of all the options scores you major points with me."

Wyatt didn’t hide his pride. Beaming at the praise, he said, "I just thought you’d like it, but after watching it, I really liked it too. It’s a great film."

"If you do watch it again someday, will you think of me? And of today?"

Cecilia laughed, a little exasperated. He seemed to love asking questions where the potential answer would make him happy.

Like when he’d asked earlier, "Do you think I look good in white?"

’These little ploys of his are actually kind of cute.’

Cecilia nodded. "Of course."

"So, can I ask you out again when I have time?"

Cecilia nodded again.

Wyatt couldn’t suppress his grin. "Then let me walk you back to campus."

"That’s okay. It’s Friday, so I’m heading home."

It dawned on Wyatt. "Oh, right. Well..."

Cecilia smiled. "I’ll get going then. See you next time!"

Wyatt waved, watching wistfully as Cecilia walked out of the mall.

When she got home that evening, the house was quiet and empty. Only Yoda ran out to greet her, tail wagging.

Cecilia put on his leash and took him for a walk to the community’s pet park, where she happened to run into the two stray orange tabbies she’d seen around before.

The two kitties were even chubbier than last year. The property management staff had clearly been feeding them well.

"Sis!"

Cecilia was enjoying a rare moment of relaxation on a park bench when Ethan found her.

"You’re back. Smart of you to know to look for me here." Cecilia stood up with a smile.

Seeing Ethan, Yoda pounced on him excitedly. Ethan scooped the little guy up, and Yoda immediately started licking him all over with his little pink tongue.

Dodging the licks, Ethan said, "I got home and thought no one was back yet. But then I saw Yoda wasn’t there, so I figured someone must have come home and taken him out."

"What do you want for dinner? Mom’s probably going to be busy again tonight. I’ll take you out."

Her mother’s company had been swamped with orders lately, with appointments booked almost to the end of the year. Cecilia knew Mr. Jennings had helped with promotion, because she’d seen his post about Cleanscape on her social media feed.

"Anything’s fine. I’ll eat whatever you make, Sis. I’m not picky."

Cecilia laughed. "You want me to cook for you? That’s too much trouble. Let’s just eat out. You can drive. You got your license, but I haven’t even ridden in your car yet."

"Sure! How about I take you for a spin?"

He’d barely driven his new car a few times and was itching for a chance.

The family garage now housed a total of seven cars. Her brother had two, her mother had one, and Cecilia alone had four.

Lily hadn’t found the time to learn to drive yet, so she hadn’t bought one.

Not that it mattered; they all just picked whichever car they felt like driving. For instance, their mother had taken Cecilia’s silver Ferrari supercar to work that day.

Ethan Sterling eagerly slipped into the driver’s seat of his own car. He’d waited over two months to get it, and he still regretted giving his priority pickup spot to Owen Griffin.

Cecilia got in as well, holding Yoda, and found a pet-friendly Japanese Restaurant on her phone. "Let’s go here!"

Ethan made an OK sign with his hand and started the car.

The expensive engine let out a series of deep rumbles. A look of pure enjoyment spread across Ethan’s face. "Listen to that, Sis. Isn’t it a beautiful sound?"

"If you love it so much, why don’t you drive it to school? Doesn’t Lorcain U have a parking lot?"

"It’s too flashy. Better to keep a low profile," Ethan said.

In Lorcain, it wasn’t rare for university students to drive to school, but driving a luxury car would definitely attract a lot of attention.

Take Owen Griffin, for example. The whole university knew who he was within a few days of the semester starting, simply because he was always cruising around campus in his luxury car. Everyone knew his family was rich.

Her brother was an excellent driver. The ride was incredibly smooth, and combined with the exceptionally comfortable seats of the luxury car, Cecilia felt so relaxed she almost dozed off.

"How’s Lorcain U?"

Cecilia asked, her eyes half-closed, just making small talk with her brother.

"It’s amazing," Ethan replied, the corners of his mouth lifting.

"Oh?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow and glanced at her brother. "Elaborate?"

"Well, the school is great, my roommates are great, and Jameson and Renee Reid are there too. For me, Lorcain U is the perfect university." As he spoke, Ethan didn’t forget to turn and thank his sister. "And I have my favorite sister to thank for it."

"You don’t have to thank me. You’re the one who had the grades to get in. Otherwise, there’s nothing I could have done," Cecilia said leisurely.

Seraphina’s face flashed through Ethan’s mind again. Being able to meet her at Lorcain U made him see the university through an even rosier filter, and the smile on his face widened noticeably.

But the next second, his sister casually dropped a bombshell. "I went on a date with your senior, Wyatt Sherman, today."
