Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 453 - 449: This Cecilia Sterling Really Has Her Ways
Ethan Sterling jerked uncontrollably, and the car swerved on the road.
But Cecilia Sterling simply reminded him with an air of nonchalance, "What are you panicking for? Drive safely!"
Ethan Sterling steadied the steering wheel and glanced at his sister, his eyes wide with shock. "Wyatt Sherman? Is-is it the same Wyatt Sherman I’m thinking of?"
"Yeah."
"I knew he was up to something on the first day of school," Ethan Sterling said, belatedly recalling the event with an exasperated look. "Unbelievable. No wonder Vince says you have to make your own opportunities. I guess I’m still too green!"
"Why are you so worked up? You don’t approve of Wyatt Sherman?" Cecilia Sterling asked, a hint of amusement in her voice.
Ethan Sterling quickly backtracked. "No, not at all! Wyatt Sherman is amazing. He’s one of the vice presidents of the Lorcain U Student Union. I’m just in awe. How can someone be that bold?"
’He’s just going to pursue someone as beautiful as my sister, just like that?’
’And here I am, still trying to figure out how to work up the nerve to say hi to Seraphina!’
’The difference is just staggering!’
"So, sis, what’s your impression of Wyatt Sherman? Does he have a chance?" Ethan Sterling asked curiously.
Cecilia Sterling answered without hesitation, "I don’t know yet, but he made a pretty good impression on me today."
"So that means there’s a shot?"
Cecilia Sterling remained noncommittal.
Ethan Sterling grinned. "Honestly, you two are a pretty good match. In every way."
Just as he finished speaking, the car pulled to a steady stop by the curb. They had arrived.
After getting out of the car, Cecilia Sterling casually looped her arm through her brother’s as they entered the restaurant. A host greeted them and led them toward a private room in the back.
"What’s wrong, Reggie? What are you looking at?"
At the entrance, Reggie Hale, who had also come for dinner, happened to witness the scene. Cecilia Sterling and some guy got out of a luxury car, and then she linked her arm with his as they went into the Japanese restaurant.
’She’s just as much of a player as Cindy said!’
’She was on a date with Wyatt Sherman this afternoon, and by dinner, she’s already moved on to another guy. And this new guy is obviously loaded; you can tell just by looking at his car.’
"Reggie?"
Reggie Hale didn’t snap out of it until his companion called his name again. He blinked, a dazed look on his face. His determination to make Wyatt Sherman see Cecilia Sterling’s true colors had never been stronger.
"Todd, you’re pretty close with Wyatt Sherman, right?" Reggie Hale asked the older student.
Todd, like Reggie, was on the school basketball team. And like Wyatt, he was a member of the student union, making him the perfect bridge between them.
The sudden mention of Wyatt caught Todd off guard. "Huh? Yeah, we’re pretty good friends. Why?"
"The basketball team is going on a camping trip next weekend. Do you think you could invite Wyatt Sherman to come along?"
"Invite him?" Todd pursed his lips, looking troubled. He gave a wry smile. "I don’t know if that’s a good idea. Everyone’s bringing their girlfriends, and Wyatt doesn’t have one. It’d be so awkward for him to be there alone. Besides, knowing him, he probably wouldn’t want to come anyway."
Todd assumed his words would make Reggie back off, but instead, an idea flashed through Reggie’s mind. "Just invite him. I’ll have my girlfriend introduce him to one of her friends. All of my girlfriend’s friends are really pretty."
’If I can set Wyatt Sherman up with another girl, then Cecilia Sterling will be out of the picture automatically, right?’
Reggie Hale thought his idea was absolutely perfect.
Hearing this, Todd’s interest was piqued. "So you’re trying to set Wyatt up with a girlfriend, huh? That’s not a bad idea. Alright, I’ll ask him if he’s interested in coming."
Reggie Hale nodded happily. Cindy didn’t like Cecilia Sterling, so this way he could make his girlfriend happy and help Wyatt Sherman escape a "player"—killing two birds with one stone.
Not only that, but Reggie Hale also used the excuse of going to the restroom to find the private room Cecilia and Ethan were in. He then secretly took a photo with his phone when a waiter opened the door to serve a dish.
Cecilia Sterling was completely unaware of this. During the meal, she received a message from Wyatt Sherman.
"Cecilia, I suddenly remembered something after I got back today. I hesitated for a long time, but I think I should tell you."
The message was sudden, and given the timing, there was an inevitably odd feeling between the lines.
Cecilia Sterling blinked in surprise. ’He’s not going to impatiently confess his feelings, is he?’
But based on how he’d been today, Cecilia felt that Wyatt Sherman wasn’t that impulsive.
So she typed back an unhurried reply: "What is it?"
He seemed to be typing for a while before a new message came through.
"It’s about your brother, Ethan Sterling. A couple of days ago, I saw him in the hallway of one of the academic buildings. He was surrounded by a few other guys from his year. It looked like a conflict was about to start, but I managed to stop them before any punches were thrown."
"I asked him about it, but he didn’t seem to want to say much. Maybe you could ask him? If we at least know what’s going on, I can help keep an eye on him at school. I’m mainly worried it might be bullying. Even though Lorcain U is a top university, things like this still happen. I’m just a little concerned about him."
"It’s probably best to ask him directly. I don’t mind if he knows I told you. After all, this could be something minor or something serious. The important thing is to find out what’s really going on."
As Cecilia Sterling read Wyatt Sherman’s messages, her brow furrowed deeper with every word.
By the end, her expression had grown as dark as a deep pool.
"What’s wrong, sis?" Ethan Sterling noticed her grim expression and couldn’t help but ask with concern, "Did something happen?"
Cecilia Sterling quietly finished her reply to Wyatt, then looked up at her brother. "Are you being bullied at school?"
Ethan Sterling froze, not processing the question at first. "Huh?"
Cecilia Sterling just stared at him, her eyes unblinking.
Ethan Sterling remained stunned for a moment as his sister’s words raced through his mind. Then, it clicked.
He immediately put a hand to his forehead, exasperated. "Wyatt Sherman is really something else. He’s even using me as part of his play to get you!"
But then he saw his sister was still staring at him with a grim expression, which scared him into a hasty explanation. "Sis, it’s not what you think! I messed with him first, so it’s normal for him to be pissed at me. It was just a little argument, no fighting."
"You messed with someone?"
Cecilia Sterling clearly didn’t believe him. Her brother wasn’t the type to be unreasonable or provoke others for no reason.
Ethan knew his sister well enough to realize this wasn’t over until he explained everything clearly. He sighed and nodded reluctantly. "You’ve actually met the guy. His dad’s name is Walter Griffin!"
The name was so distinctive that Ethan had remembered it.
Sure enough, Cecilia immediately remembered. "The guy we ran into when we were buying the car?"
Ethan nodded, then slowly, as if telling a story, he recounted his conflict with Owen Griffin at Aetherium to his sister.
Ethan finished with a sneer. "He totally deserved it. Renee Reid hadn’t even bumped into him, but he insisted on using that expensive wine to mess with her. Of course I couldn’t just stand by and let that happen."
Hearing that he had been sticking up for a friend, Cecilia’s expression softened slightly.
"He really didn’t lay a hand on you?"
"He really didn’t. Don’t worry, sis. He wouldn’t dare try anything at school!"
