The central city didn't sleep; it festered beneath a curtain of rain.

Three hours out of the Void Gate, Team Blaze breached the Upper Tier. Neon bled across slick obsidian streets as security wards swept the avenues in slow, lethal arcs.

Mei led the vanguard, slipping through the surveillance grid without breaking stride. Shane trailed, shield slung low, his heavy mass dampening their movement. Lucien wove hexes to muffle the clatter of their gear, while Adrian silently bent the city's mana network, steering them clear of the strongest scrying fields.

Joshua held her six. Perfect distance. Absolute cover.

She noticed. For once, she said nothing.

The Eternal Seal Guild Hall loomed through the downpour, its white marble facade glowing behind dense layers of defensive magic. Lucien pulled his hood lower. "Fei locked down the perimeter an hour ago. Rumor is the Void Gate collapsed with everyone inside."

"She thinks we're buried," Shane grunted.

"She's about to be disappointed," Mei said.

At the East Aqueduct, Adrian pressed a bare palm against the wet stone. "The main array feeds through this junction. I can blow the circuit for three seconds."

"Do it."

Green light spiderwebbed through the masonry. A single pulse hit the network, and every defensive ward surrounding the hall flickered and died.

Mei moved before the light faded.

Shane hit the courtyard first, his taunt aura flaring to yank two armored guards off balance. Lucien's golden bindings pinned them before they could reach the alarm crystal. Joshua vaulted the barricade and dropped the last sentry with a sickening crack of his pommel.

Three seconds. Flawless.

Mei kicked through the heavy guild hall doors.

Warm air thick with incense and vintage wine rushed over them. Fei sat at the head of a polished mahogany table, surrounded by guild officers, battle maps, and raised champagne flutes.

The glass slipped from her fingers, shattering against the marble.

"M-Mei?"

Mei walked down the center aisle. Rain bled from her dark hair. Monster blood dried black across her armor. Twin daggers hung loose in her grip.

Behind her, four shadows filled the doorway: Shane, Lucien, Adrian, Joshua.

Fei's face drained of all color. "The Gate... no one survives a collapse..."

"Yet here I am." Mei stopped at the table, casually picking up a map bearing the Central Council's seal before letting it drift to the floor. "You took the reward. You took the guild. You built all of this on my corpse."

Fei stumbled back into the wall, her breath coming in ragged gasps. "Guards! Kill them!"

Silence answered.

Mei pulled the glowing Gate Key from her pouch and tossed it onto the mahogany. It clattered against the glass. "I'm taking it back. All of it."

Fei's eyes darted wildly. "What are you going to do to me?"

"Nothing."

"You expect me to believe you've forgiven me?!"

"I haven't," Mei said, her voice dropping into a deadly, flat calm. "I spent one lifetime letting you determine how I lived and died. I'm not giving you a second. You're irrelevant."

Fei's expression twisted into blind desperation. Her hand slipped into her sleeve.

"Mei—" Joshua warned.

Fei lunged.

Joshua caught her wrist, snapping the blade out of her grip before Shane seized her by the throat and slammed her against the stone. Lucien's bind locked her legs instantly.

Adrian glanced at the fallen dagger. "Poisoned."

Mei didn't even turn around.

Joshua lowered his sword, looking at her with quiet intensity. "You knew."

"I expected it."

"You didn't look back."

"I didn't need to." She pushed open the heavy oak exit and stepped out into the rain.

Joshua caught up to her on the wet cobblestones. "In the dungeon... when the floor gave out."

Mei glanced sideways.

"I thought you were going to cut yourself loose," he said.

"I considered it."

"Why didn't you?"

Mei looked back toward the road ahead. "You were holding on."

Joshua let out a breath, a faint, rare smile breaking through his tension. "Don't make me wonder whether you're coming back next time."

"I'll try."

Shane caught up, wiping soot from his armor. "So, we're seizing an entire guild hall now?"

"Reclaiming it," Lucien corrected smoothly.

"Vault's already cracked," Adrian added from the back.

Mei looked at the four men walking beside her, their shadows overlapping beneath the streetlights. A razor-thin smile touched her mouth.

"Then let's get to work."
