Chu Lingxiu had almost forgotten. When she first decided to return to the country and enroll at B University, she learned that Gu Shuxin had also been accepted. Because of that, Chu Lingxiu had specifically asked her family if she could share a dorm with Gu Shuxin.

The idea was to take better care of Gu Shuxin.

But now, thinking back on her original reasoning, Chu Lingxiu found it almost laughable.

’Gu Shuxin? She was hardly someone who needed my care! She’d probably be even better off without me!’

But since she was already here, Chu Lingxiu wasn’t about to avoid her. She put her things down, turned her head, and looked at Gu Shuxin.

However, when Chu Lingxiu turned around, the first thing she saw was the mountain of shopping bags in Gu Shuxin’s hands. Among them were several brands that even Chu Lingxiu herself was usually reluctant to splurge on.

This kind of spending was clearly not the Gu Shuxin she knew. The Gu Shuxin she remembered appreciated quality, but she had never been so lavish.

But then, the image of Gu Shuxin leaving with Qi Chengliang flashed through her mind, and something seemed to click for Chu Lingxiu.

"Mm, I’m back a little late. Oh, do we have a new roommate?"

’Hard to get along with!’ Jiang Jiajia wanted to get Gu Shuxin on her side, so she certainly didn’t want Shuxin’s first impression of Chu Lingxiu to be a good one. She never expected, however, to be cut off by Gu Shuxin’s cry of surprise before she could even finish her sentence.

"Lingxiu? What are you doing here?"

Gu Shuxin saw Chu Lingxiu sitting at her desk and watching her. Her face was a mask of astonishment, and beneath it, there was even a hint of panic.

And Chu Lingxiu saw it all.

’Her older brother was right. If she just paid attention, she really could notice things she’d normally miss.’

"It’s me. What a... coincidence."

"Shuxin, you... you two know each other?"

Jiang Jiajia stared at Gu Shuxin, her face a mixture of surprise and dismay.

Just moments ago, she had been bad-mouthing Chu Lingxiu to Gu Shuxin, hoping to team up with her to isolate their new roommate.

But she never imagined that Gu Shuxin and Chu Lingxiu would actually know each other!

’If they’re already good friends, does that mean *I’m* the one who’s going to be isolated by them?’

At that thought, the color drained from Jiang Jiajia’s face. If she was ostracized by her roommates on the very first day of school, the years ahead would be miserable.

Of course, it never occurred to her that she had just been planning to do the exact same thing to someone else. She hadn’t spared a single thought for how the person *she* planned to isolate would cope.

"That’s right! We’re great friends!"

Hearing Jiang Jiajia’s question, Gu Shuxin snapped out of her daze. She started walking toward Chu Lingxiu as she spoke.

"Lingxiu, I’m so happy we get to be in the same dorm! This way, we can stay together for all four years of university."

Gu Shuxin had been worried that Chu Lingxiu, after getting angry this time, would be difficult to win over. But now, the university had actually put them in the same dorm. Living in such close quarters, she was confident she could coax Lingxiu back around.

"Is that right? Unfortunately, we won’t be in the same dorm."
