When she returned to the hospital room, she found her mom dozing, slumped over the side of the hospital bed.

She walked over and gently shook her awake. "Mom, go sleep in the other bed."

This was a nice hospital room; it came with a cot for visitors.

Mrs. Fu immediately said, "You go sleep. I’ll just rest my head here for a bit."

’I don’t have a job to go to, so why do I need a proper sleep?’

Fu Mingxue didn’t waste words arguing. She simply pulled her mother up and pushed her onto the cot.

"You’re older. Go to sleep."

Mrs. Fu: ...?

’I’m not seventy or eighty yet. How am I old?’

She shot the brat an annoyed glare. ’Not a single nice word out of her mouth all day long.’

Fu Mingxue returned to the main hospital bed to watch over her two children.

In the dead of night, she ended up holding her little daughter as they slept together.

Mrs. Fu had woken up during the night, intending to give her bed to her daughter.

But when she saw her daughter already asleep holding the child, she simply lay back down.

「The next day.」

Mrs. Fu woke up early.

Seeing that her daughter and the two children were still asleep, she decided to lie still in bed so she wouldn’t wake them.

She lay there until six o’clock.

Fu Mingxue woke up around the same time.

She reached out and felt the forehead of the child in her arms. Discovering she wasn’t feverish anymore, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Then, she got out of bed.

"Mom, you’re awake too?"

Mrs. Fu: ...?

’I’ve been awake for ages.’

"How are the children?"

"They’re fine. Their fevers have broken. It looks like they’re going to be okay."

Last night was terrifying.

’It really gave me a huge scare.’

Hearing that they were fine, Mrs. Fu also sighed in relief.

"That’s good. We’ll have the doctor take a look later. By the way, don’t you have to go to the factory this morning?"

"I’m not going this morning. I’ll see about the afternoon."

If the children were better, she would go to work.

If their fevers returned, there was no way she could go.

"Alright. But how are we going to get home when we’re discharged? Should I go home now and ride the tricycle over?"

"No need for all that trouble. I have a feeling Director Xie from last night will come by."

’Of course, if he’s busy, he won’t be able to make it.’

But she guessed that even if Director Xie didn’t come himself, he would send someone.

"Mom, I’m going to the bathroom. Watch the kids for a bit."

Fu Mingxue wanted to take advantage of the empty restroom to quickly wash up.

Thankfully, she had her toothbrush and other toiletries in her space.

"Okay, go on. By the way, when you get back, I should probably go home for a bit. The kids don’t have anything to eat this morning. I’ll go get the formula."

Normally, children over a year and a half old would have stopped drinking formula.

After all, formula was expensive and hard to come by.

But her family was different; they had a lot of it.

Not only had they not finished the formula her daughter bought before, but their in-laws had also brought back two more cans this time.

The two children could never finish it all.

Fu Mingxue didn’t answer. She went out to find a restroom—and after making sure no one was there, she took her toiletries out of her space and began to wash up—

When she returned to the room, Mrs. Fu announced she was leaving.

But this time, Fu Mingxue stopped her.

"Mom, it’s just one meal. Don’t go. We can just get the kids some plain congee from the cafeteria later."

Mrs. Fu thought about it and agreed—

Doctor Xie came by to do her rounds at eight o’clock.

After examining the two children, she said to Fu Mingxue, "You can go home. For the next two days, pay attention to their diet and try to keep it light. Also, if any other symptoms appear, bring them back to the hospital immediately."

Fu Mingxue nodded. "Okay!"
