Finding it suspicious, Li Qinghua took a day to drive to that place himself for a look.

Unexpectedly, he found Mei Ziqi really there. She had actually rented a yard there, living a countryside life.

He knew this was Mei Ziqi’s style. She, like her mom, always loved such flora and fauna.

Upon reaching the backyard, he saw a large flower shed there and a familiar busy figure inside.

Glimpsing the protruding belly, Li Qinghua felt an inexplicable joy. Hastily raising his pace, he went to see Mei Ziqi. He didn’t know when Mei Ziqi got pregnant, but roughly it should be due in a month or two.

Rounding the shed, Li Qinghua discovered that the shed was filled with flowers Mei Ziqi’s mom sold.

Unexpectedly, she came to the countryside to grow flowers, helping out her mom with flower sales. Despite being pregnant, she wasn’t resting, tackling such heavy tasks on her own. She really knew how to give herself a hard time. Li Qinghua, with a dark face, strode into the shed intending to reprimand her, only to see Mei Ziqi clutching her belly, slumping onto the ground looking in pain.

Upon seeing her like that, a hint of distress flickered in Li Qinghua’s heart. He quickly walked over with big strides and picked her up from the ground.

Mei Ziqi, seeing the sudden black figure in front of her, was startled, staring blankly at Li Qinghua for quite a while, even forgetting her belly ache.

Li Qinghua snorted with a dark look, though he was annoyed she ran off while pregnant. Seeing her now like this, however, he couldn’t bring himself to be mad.

Li Qinghua came at the right time; during her pregnancy, Mei Ziqi had been busying herself in the yard, building the flower shed, never resting. With such exertion day and night, she showed some signs of early labor.

Sure enough, just as they got her to the village hospital, the doctor said she was about to give birth.

Li Qinghua, uneasy with the conditions there, wanted to take Mei Ziqi to the city, but time didn’t allow. He could only nervously watch the simple delivery room of the village hospital, standing for several hours without moving an inch.

This was his first experience of childbirth, not knowing it was so tough for women. Inevitably, he thought about how Mei Ziqi managed on her own for the past few months while pregnant.
