Chapter 1222: Chapter 927: Li Qinghua Side Story (4)_3
Mei Ziqi gave birth to a son for him, weighing more than eight pounds. Fortunately, she exercised during the months of pregnancy, so the childbirth wasn’t so strenuous.
Otherwise, a child weighing more than eight pounds might have been a difficult birth, if not a cesarean section. Li Qinghua listened to the doctor say this, feeling rather upset. It was hard for him to listen from outside, let alone Mei Ziqi; this wasn’t effortless at all, it was like going through the gate of hell.
Due to their rushed arrival and lack of experience, when the baby emerged, they didn’t even have a wrap for him. The doctor insisted that Li Qinghua take off his coat to hold the child.
It was already autumn, so this wouldn’t do. After Mei Ziqi was sent back to the ward, she weakly told him where the baby clothes were placed, letting him go to retrieve them.
Li Qinghua was worried about them but had to go back. Mei Ziqi said she could watch the baby, so Li Qinghua hurriedly returned to Mei Ziqi’s courtyard to fetch the items: wraps, diapers, bottles, and milk powder.
When the two met, they were busy dealing with the child’s matters, and didn’t even have a chance to talk. Li Qinghua wanted to accuse Mei Ziqi, but Mei Ziqi was always cautious, afraid that Li Qinghua would get angry with her, as she had hidden the pregnancy from him and walked away.
Anyone would be angry, especially Li Qinghua, who already hated her family. Now, he should hate them even more.
Li Qinghua could see Mei Ziqi’s worry. He knew it wasn’t easy for her and didn’t plan to retaliate anymore. He couldn’t forgive Mei Langchi, but he could continue with Mei Ziqi.
Upon seeing the child, he decided that once Mei Ziqi finished her postpartum confinement period, he would take the mother and child back to the port to live a good life. As for the families’ interaction? He wouldn’t stop Mei Ziqi, but he himself wouldn’t go.
Mei Ziqi was too exhausted. After Li Qinghua returned and swaddled the child, she slowly fell asleep, leaving Li Qinghua flustered and alone to look after the child.
The child cried, and he didn’t know if it was thirsty or hungry. In the end, it was an aunt nearby who taught him. It turned out the child had wet itself. The aunt instructed him on how to change diapers, feed the child, and when to give it some water.
While teaching him, she asked if there were any adults in the house, suggesting it would be best for an adult to come over, worried that the young couple wouldn’t properly take care of the child.
When Mei Ziqi awoke, she felt helpless. Li Qinghua couldn’t care for the child, and neither could she. Mei Ziqi wanted to call her parents but was afraid Li Qinghua might not agree, so she kept silent.
Li Qinghua had to care for both Mei Ziqi, who had just given birth, and the child. Watching the child cry terribly, both he and Mei Ziqi felt heartache.
Ultimately, Li Qinghua had no choice but to ask for Mei Ziqi’s mom to come over.
Mei Ziqi knew that he was doing it out of necessity, so during the call, she specially mentioned it was at Li Qinghua’s request.
Li Xiao’ai understood, so she came herself. Mei Langchi worried for his daughter at home but held back, heeding Li Xiao’ai’s advice not to go. He feared seeing Li Qinghua would provoke him into harming his daughter.
Li Qinghua was resigned to whatever happened to himself; he could compromise, wishing only for him to let go of past grievances and treat his daughter well.
Li Qinghua was somewhat satisfied seeing Li Xiao’ai arrive alone. After staying in the rural hospital for three days, Mei Ziqi directly returned to the farmhouse.
Li Xiao’ai stayed to care for her daughter and grandchild for a month, during which Li Qinghua never left.
That evening upon returning, Li Qinghua found a moment, and the two of them opened up and talked.
Mei Ziqi was surprised by Li Qinghua’s words. She thought he would unleash his fury upon finding her, possibly even slap her.
Or cruelly demand her to abort the child. Unexpectedly, he wanted her back, intending to give the child a complete family, and to live a good life with her.
Li Xiao’ai was also surprised when she heard this from her daughter. She knew her daughter’s feelings for Li Qinghua; no matter the resentment, it couldn’t be forgotten.
With a child now, since he’s willing to let go and wants to live well with her daughter, she certainly doesn’t object, as long as he treats her daughter well, they can compromise. Even if they’re usually unwilling to return, they’re willing. As long as her daughter is well.
Mei Ziqi knew it was difficult for everyone, but gradually, Li Qinghua would let go. Although she had been disappointed, had given up, she still thought of him in her heart; hence, she agreed to return with Li Qinghua.
On the day she finished her confinement, as Li Qinghua prepared to return, Mei secretly came to see her daughter and grandson. She told her daughter to bring the child to visit them when possible; even if Li Qinghua wouldn’t come back, the daughter returning was enough.
Mei Ziqi agreed. After returning with Li Qinghua, they didn’t go back to where she used to live, but to the place Li Qinghua considered his home.
Looking at him leading her here, Mei Ziqi felt a surge of emotions, realizing Li Qinghua was genuinely accepting her, sincerely wanting to live well with her.
Li Qinghua too followed through; since finding Mei Ziqi, he treated her exceptionally well, fulfilling whatever she asked, and at times, even relied especially on Mei Ziqi.
Perhaps this is unknowingly falling in love.
Li Qinghua hired a nanny for the child to prevent Mei Ziqi from becoming too exhausted.
Mei Ziqi wasn’t inclined to idleness; she missed the calm and fulfilling days at the farmhouse.
Upon learning this, Li Qinghua specially bought a piece of land in the suburbs, set up several large greenhouses for her, hired staff, allowing her to do what she liked.
Also, he purchased the farmhouse in H City, giving it to her mother, as a form of compensation.
Besides this, Li Qinghua didn’t continue suppressing Mei Langchi, letting everything unfold naturally.
Three years later, Mei Langchi helped his son restart their old business, opening a magazine company, with the annual exhibitions. While not run by him, many old friends still showed face. This time, Mei Langchi’s son launched a fashion magazine, finding success in the fashion industry.
Li Xiao’ai didn’t want to be a housewife fearing a recurrence of such matters, hence continually pursued her flower business. In case anything unexpected happened on her son’s end, she had a backup.
With mobility issues, Mei Langchi followed Li Xiao’ai, tending to plants daily, leading a more content life than before. Although they’d never been to their daughter’s place, she frequently visited them. Seeing the increasing smiles on her face, they finally felt ease.
Some matters take root in the heart, growing over time, not easily uprooted. This is perhaps the best outcome.
Entangled and intertwined, resisting resolution...
