Chapter 8: Hunter Academy

Poor Jiang Zihan had no idea that there would be even more "surprises" waiting for him once he arrived in the classroom.

"Jiang Zihan, come up and get your test paper," the teacher for the "Monster Studies" class called out.

Jiang Zihan walked forward and accepted the paper with a sense of anticipation. He barely had any memory of what was taught in these classes, and he desperately wanted to confirm if it was because he didn’t get all the memories yet or if it was because the original owner had no idea what they were even learning.

However, the moment he saw the score, the smile on his face froze immediately.

At the top of the exam paper, there was a big fat number written in red pen: 15%.

Seems like it’s the second reason.

At first, Jiang Zihan thought that it might just be that the original owner of the body wasn’t good at this subject; however, that exam wasn’t the end of it.

25% for the "Dungeon Survival" class.

0% for the "Monster Behavior Analysis" class.

12% for the "Magical Theory" class.

17% for the "Herbal Studies" class...

...and 22% for the "Hunter Ethics and Law" class.

How could 25% be his highest score?!!

Every time the teacher called his name, Jiang Zihan literally wanted to dig a hole in the ground and hide himself, but in real life, all he could do was smile and walk to the front to take his test paper.

Then he would go back and sit up straight in his seat, pretending that the person that the teacher was staring at wasn’t him.

At the end of the day, he looked at the stack of exam papers on the table, speechless. Then he let out a sigh.

If the original "Jiang Zihan" had the time to bully Mo Shiyan, why didn’t he spend that time studying?

Knowing almost nothing about this world, how was he supposed to get into the Hunter Academy?

Now there’s less than three months before the entrance exam, which means that he had to learn everything from scratch... in just three months!

How is that even possible? Even though Jiang Zihan was a straight-A student in his own world, he still refuses to accept that truth.

Just as he started to feel that life was hopeless, the sound of an argument suddenly rose from the back of the room.

He turned around to check, curious about what happened, and saw several students surrounding Mo Shiyan, pushing him to the corner of the room.

Seeing that they were trying to drag him out of the classroom, Jiang Zihan immediately turned serious.

Since Jiang Zihan was only a cannon fodder character of the game, Gu Yan, the biggest villain of Vol. 1, would definitely not pin all his hopes on him alone. He also requested several other students to support his plan, with those students constantly seizing the opportunity to bully Mo Shiyan.

Jiang Zihan looked at those students and slowly shook his head. Tragic—absolutely tragic.

Their endings were no better than any other cannon fodder characters. When it was their scene, he did not even dare to face that part of the storyline, and clicked on the skip button inside. In comparison, he actually felt that the original owner’s ending was somehow "merciful"... at least he was left with an intact corpse.

Then he shook his head even faster. Lu Ye, how can you think that way? You have to change both of their fates. You also have to make sure that Mo Shiyan grows into a kind person. You cannot just die like that!

He quickly shook that dangerous thought out of his mind. Seeing them leave, he quickly followed behind them.

"Mo Shiyan! Hurry up and hand over your money!" one of the students shouted violently.

"I don’t have any," Mo Shiyan replied as his eyes stared deeply at him.

That student shivered a little, feeling terrified by his sight. But then, he felt humiliated that he had been intimidated by Mo Shiyan, so he grabbed him by the collar and raised his fist—

Crack!

A stone that flew out of nowhere hit right on his raised hand. He dropped his hand in pain; the impact caused Mo Shiyan to fall hard onto the ground, his back slamming against the wall with a heavy thud.

"Who? Who is it out there?!" the student shouted, looking around for the person who threw the stone, but didn’t see anyone around.

The student’s shout drew the attention of all the other students in the group. They also began searching for the mysterious person who dared to help Mo Shiyan. Jiang Zihan hid behind the other side of the wall and threw another stone towards them, hitting directly on the student’s head.

"Who?! Who is it that hit me again?!!" the student yelled out.

Seeing that there was still no response, he shouted, "Don’t let me find out who it is, or else I’ll make you pay for what you did!"

Chance!

Jiang Zihan caught the opportunity when the group’s attention was attracted to him, and rushed out to bring Mo Shiyan away. By the time the students turned around, all they could see were the backs of the two figures as they ran away.

They immediately turned to chase after them when one of them somehow slipped, then...

Thud!

They fell down one after another.

"Damn it! Who made the floor so wet?!!" they cursed and shouted as they struggled to get back up.

Meanwhile, Jiang Zihan dragged Mo Shiyan all the way back to the dormitory, finally stopping as he lay beside the wall, breathing hard for air.

Throughout the run, Mo Shiyan had remained totally silent and did not struggle at all, as if it had nothing to do with him.

After Jiang Zihan felt that he could breathe better, he looked at Mo Shiyan and asked, "How are you feeling right now? Is your back hurt? Do you need me to take you to the school doctor?"
