Reborn as the Top Omega Hunter: My Alpha Hears My Inner Thoughts [BL]
Chapter 75: Let’s Get Going...
Jiang Zihan suddenly felt a strong aura spreading throughout the area. He instantly raised his head, but did not see anything wrong. It was as if what he had sensed before was just his imagination.
However, in the next second, the ground began to tremble slightly. Jiang Zihan frowned a little as he wanted to pull up the person sitting on the floor and bring him back when he suddenly felt that something wasn’t right about his aura.
The person who had looked super scared and had been constantly asking for help just before had now fallen eerily silent.
Jiang Zihan stepped back a little when the person slowly raised his head in the next second. A strange smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
Jiang Zihan’s pupils shrank instinctively, but he did not have the time to exclaim because he could feel goosebumps rising over his body. He jumped up immediately and wanted to step back when a terrifying force suddenly spread from that person.
Jiang Zihan’s vision blurred for a moment. Mo Shiyan seemed to notice that, and quickly walked forward to grab Jiang Zihan by the shoulder and brought him behind him to protect him with his own body.
At the same time, several white arrows cut through the air and shot directly in that direction. The two forces collided with a loud crash in mid-air while a blinding white light instantly exploded outside. The strong impact spread when Mo Shiyan quickly formed a protective barrier in front of them, but the strong impact still forced them to stumble back as Jiang Zihan instinctively raised both arms to protect his face.
As the light faded, Jiang Zihan quickly looked up but did not see anything in place. "Is it all taken care of...?" he asked in a low voice.
"It won’t be that easy," Mo Shiyan replied as he stared at that spot, and magical energy continued to gather above his palm. Just then, he suddenly raised his head, and in the next second, countless arrows shot toward the upper left corner. At first, nothing happened, but within a few seconds, mist had suddenly appeared and spread around the area.
"Be careful. There’s poison in the mist!" Jiang Zihan quickly warned Mo Shiyan. Then he crossed his hands in front of his chest to open his Domain—the Eternal Star.
In the next moment, countless stars materialized in mid-air, with the light purple star being the most attractive one. It centered around Jiang Zihan before landing above his palm. Then the starry sky began to expand, and brought the two of them inside the Domain.
Just then, the mist began to disappear as it reformed into the figure of a monster. It looked no different than the C-Rank monster that Jiang Zihan had fought before, but he still felt that something wasn’t right.
"Is this its actual form...?" Jiang Zihan murmured to himself.
"What we saw before was just an illusion, and this might also be. Don’t be tricked by it," Mo Shiyan said, his expression dignified. "This is not like any other monsters that we saw before. Be careful, Zihan."
Jiang Zihan gently nodded his head in approval. "It is very different. At least I have never seen a monster that could speak human language before."
"Save... save me..." the monster repeated again, its head lowered.
Mo Shiyan ignored its words and materialized the Celestial Bow in his hand, drawing the bowstring to its limit. Then he let go of it, shooting the arrow toward the monster. However, what he had not expected was that the arrow did not hit the monster; instead, the arrow went straight through it.
Mo Shiyan: "!!!"
Jiang Zihan: "!!!"
Mo Shiyan froze in place, his heart sinking. "This monster... has no physical form," he said with a low, hoarse voice.
On the other side, Chen Tianyu was cautiously sneaking his head out, observing the place in front of him. Just as he was totally focused, a hand suddenly landed on his shoulder, scaring him into instinctively turning around. Magical energy had already gathered above his palm, though his eyes were closed.
"AHHHH!"
"It’s me! Stop screaming," a familiar female voice rose in front of him.
Chen Tianyu cautiously opened his eyes, and after realizing that it was Lin Xingxue, he immediately sat down on the floor. He let out a long breath before patting his chest. "Xingxue, you nearly scared me to death. Why is there no sound while you’re walking?" he complained.
Lin Xingxue: "..."
"What have you discovered?" Lin Xingxue asked as she bent down beside him.
Chen Tianyu shook his head and replied, "I didn’t sense any other presence. I had also let Xiao Ling fly around to check, but it also didn’t find anything. There should be nothing around this area."
"The second we entered this dungeon, we got separated from the others. Qingyi had just awakened her Hunter ability and is not totally used to how to use it. We need to quickly find her, or else she might be in danger if she’s alone," Lin Xingxue said, her voice filled with concern.
She looked around the surroundings and added, "Since there’s nothing over here, let’s get going."
"Such a large mist over here..." Then she stood back up and brushed off the dust on her clothes before pulling Chen Tianyu up as the both of them walked deeper into the dungeon.
Neither of them realized that the mist behind them had somehow turned thicker and was slowly swallowing the area where they were originally standing.
At the same time, Jiang Zihan swung his sword at the monster, though it directly went through its body. This is the third time this has happened.
He did not stop. Instead, he stabbed the long sword into the ground, and ice crystals started to form on the tip of the sword and spread straight toward the monster, though that also went directly past it.
He frowned a little when he leapt above the monster’s head. He twisted his body elegantly in mid-air and struck the monster from above, though that attack wasn’t effective either.
"It seems like both physical and magical attacks are ineffective against it. It does not have a physical form, so it couldn’t be injured by any of these attacks. We have to find a different way," Jiang Zihan concluded as he appeared beside Mo Shiyan. His sword dissolved in his hand the next moment.
There’s no need to waste any magical energy if it’s useless...
Just then, the monster suddenly disappeared in place, and then reformed behind Jiang Zihan, its sharp claws striking straight toward him.
Jiang Zihan instinctively jumped backward to dodge the attack. However, within seconds, he was shocked to find out that the monster had then reformed beside him again.
Jiang Zihan: "!!!"
Mo Shiyan appeared right in front of him just in time; several white arrows shot out simultaneously, hitting directly with the sharp claws. Then suddenly, the monster lowered its claws and the arrows went directly through the monster’s body.
"Save... save me..."
"Why don’t you save me!!!"
Jiang Zihan quickly formed a protective barrier beside him, which the monster charged over and its claws hit hard onto the barrier. Although it successfully blocked the attack, that force still caused Jiang Zihan to fall back and almost drop to the ground when Mo Shiyan quickly ran forward to catch him behind.
The next moment, the monster suddenly moved backward as its body dissolved again into a mass of black mist.
"What in the world is that monster even...?"
Jiang Zihan and Mo Shiyan had never learned that there was a type of monster that could be so eerie as this one. It had hid itself in the mist (or maybe it is the mist itself), so they couldn’t even identify what rank it was.
The two of them stood back to back, cautiously looking around their surroundings. Jiang Zihan could totally sense that the monster had definitely not left, but he isn’t able to sense where it was exactly.
Suddenly, a low, hoarse hiss echoed all around the area. The sound seemed to be effective to one’s soul, which Jiang Zihan’s head began to hurt.
He quickly shook his head, trying to keep himself awake, but that only made himself dizzier. He fell onto the ground, a hand pressed to his chest.
"Zihan... are you okay?" Mo Shiyan bent down beside him and asked.
But at this time, Jiang Zihan could barely hear his voice. He forced himself to stand back up, but immediately fell back down into Mo Shiyan’s embrace. "Shiyan, be careful... above..." he whispered in Mo Shiyan’s ear.
Without even confirming his words, Mo Shiyan immediately drew the bowstring to its fullest and shot an arrow upward.
"Roar—!!"
It hit!
Jiang Zihan felt that much better. Although he isn’t super sure why their attacks are suddenly effective, at least it proves that the monster does have a physical form and could be defeated.
That is enough.
