Proving that is enough.

Mo Shiyan narrowed his eyes. In the next moment, a sharp claw grazed his shoulder, tearing his clothes and leaving a large cut through his arm, blood rolling down from the wound. He immediately jumped to the side to dodge the attack, but was still not able to avoid it totally.

"Shiyan, look up!" Jiang Zihan immediately shouted as he curled his fingers on the floor because of the pain.

Mo Shiyan quickly drew the bowstring back to its full length before letting go of the arrow. It shot through the air, targeted directly at the monster.

Sensing the power contained in the arrow, the monster quickly twisted its body, wanting to dissolve back into the black mist. But it was too late already... the arrow had pierced straight through its chest.

"Roar—!"

The monster roared loudly from the pain, which caused Jiang Zihan’s head to somehow hurt even more.

"Zihan!"

Before Jiang Zihan fell completely into the darkness, the last thing he saw was Mo Shiyan rushing toward him anxiously.

"Zihan...?"

"Jiang Zihan!"

The moment Jiang Zihan opened his eyes, he instinctively stood straight up, panting heavily. His movement immediately caught everyone’s attention, which the students in the class all looked toward him curiously.

Jiang Zihan stiffly sat back down in his chair, letting out an awkward smile before turning his head to the side, pretending that nothing had happened.

When the bell rang at the end of class, he finally let out a long breath before resting his head on the table. He looked toward the direction of the classroom door and watched as the crowd gathered around Ling Xiao as they always did.

He couldn’t help but mutter, "Ling Xiao is still as popular as ever."

After taking a short break, he stood up and placed his backpack over his shoulder as he wanted to leave. Suddenly, Ling Xiao slipped out of the crowd and stood beside him, speaking in a loud voice. "Sorry, guys. I already have plans with Zihan."

Then he let out a bright smile toward Jiang Zihan before resting his arm around his shoulders and bringing him out of the classroom. Once they had turned the corner of the hallway, Ling Xiao lowered his arm and leaned against the wall.

"I’m finally able to have some time for myself," he said.

"This is your twentieth time using me as an excuse," Jiang Zihan concluded.

Ling Xiao scratched the back of his head awkwardly. Then he looked toward Jiang Zihan and asked, "As always?"

Jiang Zihan gently nodded his head before they walked together toward the dining hall.

"Zihan, how did you do on the exam?" Ling Xiao asked in a low voice.

"Exam...? When did we take an exam?" Jiang Zihan asked, his voice filled with confusion.

Ling Xiao was stunned for a moment before asking back. "Don’t you remember that we took a physics exam during class yesterday?"

Jiang Zihan searched through his memory before finally recalling that they had taken a physics exam the day before. It’s so weird... Why didn’t I remember at the very beginning?

"It’s pretty easy; I got a 98. Lost two points because of a calculation mistake," he replied, and quickly threw that question to the back of his head.

"Wow! I know that you’re definitely gonna do great on the exam!" Ling Xiao’s eyes immediately lit up while he complimented him. Then his tone suddenly turned sad, and he muttered, "I only got a 65 on this exam. If my mom sees this score, she’s definitely not gonna let me go that easily."

Jiang Zihan just wanted to comfort him when he raised his head and saw the reflection of his face in the window. "This is...?"

He froze for a second before slowly lifting a hand to touch the side of his face. "Did I... always look like this?" he murmured to himself.

Ling Xiao had not heard what he had said. He tilted his head in confusion and asked, "Zihan, what did you just say?"

His voice brought Jiang Zihan back to reality, and he gently shook his head and replied, "It’s nothing. I’m hungry right now; let’s go to the dining hall."

Ling Xiao nodded in agreement. "I wonder what there is today!"

Because the two of them had wasted some time on the way, when they arrived at the dining hall, there weren’t many students left. Jiang Zihan looked around for an empty table and placed his backpack on the chair before turning toward the serving counter for his meal.

"What do you want to eat today?" Ling Xiao asked, following behind him.

"Anything is fine," Jiang Zihan randomly replied until he realized that fried chicken was also part of the option. His eyes immediately lit up when he ordered the dish.

After getting their meals, Jiang Zihan sat down and quickly threw a piece of fried chicken into his mouth. Then he suddenly froze in place.

"Zihan... what happened?" Ling Xiao asked.

"N-Nothing..." Jiang Zihan replied as he lowered his eyes, hiding the emotions in his eyes. The fried chicken was delicious. But why... Why does the taste feel wrong?

I seemed to have tasted a different kind of fried chicken before, and really liked it. However, why can’t I remember when and where I have eaten it before?

Jiang Zihan frowned a little, turning to recall the last time he had eaten fried chicken, when a scene suddenly flashed through his mind.

There was a plate of fried chicken on the table. A person walked out of the kitchen and sat across from him. He poured a glass of milk and pushed it toward him before speaking with a warm voice. "Try it out. This is my first time making it, so it might not be as good as you expected."

Jiang Zihan subconsciously looked up but couldn’t see the person’s face clearly. However, he could feel that he definitely knew the person in front of him—that feeling seemed to be hidden deep within his soul. But... who is he?
