Chen Tianyu continued speaking as if he was just talking to himself, and saying everything that he had been hiding in his heart since he had contracted with Jing Xuan.

"To be honest, I’ve always wondered why you chose me as your contractor in the first place, since there must be a bunch of Hunters who liked to contract you with whatever they could. But seeing your actions today, I kind of understand what you are thinking. Maybe what happened that day was not just an accident, but it’s also not your choice," Chen Tianyu slowly said.

The sub-dragon did not give any reaction, though it also didn’t stop Chen Tianyu from speaking.

"If I’m not mistaken... you just think that I’m not worthy of being your summoner, am I right?" he asked.

Jing Xuan remained silent, though Jiang Zihan somehow felt that its frantic struggle against the chains slowed down.

Chen Tianyu did not notice that detail. He lowered his head and looked toward the contract mark on the back of his hand. "I don’t blame you for thinking like that, since I know how weak I am right now. Compared to you... I really don’t think that I’m worthy of standing beside you as your partner."

"But ever since we formed our contract, I’ve been training as hard as I can. Not because I want to prove to anyone that you chose the right person... but because I want to be responsible for my actions. I also didn’t want you to feel ashamed of having me as your summoner."

He slowly raised his head and met the gaze of the dragon’s silver eyes. He didn’t know where the courage came back, but he still said those words. "How about this? Let’s make a wager—a wager with my life as the stake."

"I remember that one of the fastest ways to break the contract between a summoner and the summoned beast is to eliminate the summoner. Although a summoned beast is usually restricted from harming its summoner... with your bloodline, I’m sure that you should be able to do so."

Hearing his words, Lin Xingxue felt that something wasn’t right. Her eyes immediately widened as she yelled out, "Chen Tianyu, what do you want to do?!"

Chen Tianyu did not answer her question. He reached his hand out toward Jing Xuan and continued, "Give me three months. If, after three months, you still can’t accept me as your summoner... then I will give you the freedom you want... with my life."

Jiang Zihan’s pupils shrank. He was betting on his own life... just to exchange the sub-dragon’s acknowledgement. But that’s too risky...

Jing Xuan was stunned for a moment, his eyes fixed at Chen Tianyu’s figure as the anger in its eyes was slowly replaced with a complicated emotion.

Chen Tianyu tilted his hand and asked, "So... how do you think?"

Jing Xuan stared quietly at the hand he reached out, then his sight turned toward Jiang Zihan. He frowned a little, but seeing the scene in front of him, he still let out a sigh before tentatively removing the chains, letting the pale-purple starlight chains slowly vanish into the air.

After a long moment, the sub-dragon slowly folded its wings and lowered its head. Everyone held their breath as they saw the sub-dragon’s head gently touch the hand that Chen Tianyu had reached out. It let out a low, resonant growl, as if agreeing to the words that Chen Tianyu had said.

The patterns of the contract mark suddenly lit up, and a soft silver light flowed gently between the human and the sub-dragon. In the next moment, two complicated patterns emerged beneath their feets, and they both felt that the bond of their contract grew stronger than ever before.

"Human... prove it to me."

"Prove your determination."

Jing Xuan’s voice echoed through his mind for the first time, as it directly reached deep within his consciousness.

"I will," Chen Tianyu promised, his voice filled with determination.

Then the sub-dragon walked beside him and quietly laid down, his tail loosely curled around Chen Tianyu before it closed its eyes.

Just as everyone’s guard began to lower, Mo Shiyan suddenly felt a powerful aura coming from behind.

"Since everything’s over, can someone give me an explanation of why the academy’s dormitory gardens became like this?" A gentle male voice rose from behind.

Mo Shiyan cautiously turned around and instinctively stood in front of Jiang Zihan. At the same time, Jiang Zihan materialized a strand of thread above his palm. A group of people were also coming near, allowing for Chen Tianyu and Lin Xingxue to be ready for a fight.

Seeing the students watching them with wary expressions, the man leading the group let out a soft chuckle before slowly introducing himself. "There’s no need to be so cautious. I’m Song Yuan, the academy’s vice principal, and the people accompanying me are Hunters from the Hunters Association."

These Hunters had originally come to the Interstellar Ice Hunter Academy to discuss a dungeon that had suddenly appeared near the academy, but at the end, they were all attracted by what was happening over here and followed Song Yuan over to check it out.

By the time they arrived, they heard Chen Tianyu’s bet with the sub-dragon. Song Yuan couldn’t help but admire the student’s courage in making such a wager with a sub-dragon, while the members of the Hunters Association were all shocked by his decision.

One of the older Hunters couldn’t help but take an extra look at Chen Tianyu before saying, "Young man, you certainly have quite a bit of luck. This is a sub-dragon that holds the bloodline of a Spatial Dragon—an extremely rare existence. You have to know that even many of those experienced Hunters that hold summoning abilities did not have the chance to summon a creature that possesses even a trace of draconic blood."

Hearing this, Chen Tianyu could only let out a bitter smile, as he didn’t know if this could actually count as good luck. He looked toward the sub-dragon lying beside him.
