Reborn as the Top Omega Hunter: My Alpha Hears My Inner Thoughts [BL]
Chapter 32: Where is Your Companion?
The gap in strength between Hunters of different ranks is big. However, there are some exceptions. Although the captain was only a C-Rank Hunter, he had a lot of combat experience and high-ranking equipment, which was more than enough to fight a non-professional Hunter like him (who had just awakened not long ago).
In the next second, the captain stomped hard against the ground, lunging straight toward Mo Shiyan at lightning speed. He was so fast that Mo Shiyan could barely see his shadow.
Mo Shiyan’s pupils shrank, but he didn’t have the time to exclaim, because the captain had already appeared right in front of him. Mo Shiyan instinctively jumped backward, though he barely dodged the attack. Blood immediately soaked his sleeves. So fast!
A cold glint flashed by as a short blade grazed his chest; the razor-sharp edge immediately sliced through his uniform, leaving a light gash across his chest. Before he could even stand still, his opponent disappeared in place, and in the next second, another attack came from behind him.
Mo Shiyan twisted his body sideways in mid-air, dodging the attack. Just at this time, the captain immediately lifted his leg and gave him another kick to his abdomen. Mo Shiyan was sent flying backward, crashing to the ground and tumbling several times before finally coming to a stop.
"Cough..." Mo Shiyan forced himself to stand back up, but he was injured very severely, causing him to fall back down and kneel on the floor again. A streak of blood slowly rolled down from the corner of his mouth.
Hundreds of meters away, Jiang Zihan saw this scene and immediately wanted to rush out of the space he was in. However, Mo Shiyan’s voice from before still echoed in his mind, forcing him to stand in place. He clenched his fist and fastened his pace.
"Your strength was pretty strong, but it seems like you lack the experience fighting with actual Hunters," the captain slowly said as he walked toward him, his voice full of compliments. "The biggest weakness of an archer is that, once the enemy begins to close the distance between them, they have already lost their biggest advantage."
He continued walking and stopped a few meters before Mo Shiyan. "You have lost. Now tell me... where is your companion?"
Mo Shiyan did not answer his question. Instead, he materialized an arrow in his palm again, placing it onto the bowstring.
The captain frowned a little, planning to knock the arrow aside again, as he did not want to give him the chance to shoot. However, Mo Shiyan caught that chance and let the arrow fall to the ground, then held the longbow horizontally and smashed it toward the captain with his full power.
The captain raised an eyebrow and planned to dodge the attack when there were complicated patterns that suddenly emerged on the ground beneath the captain’s feet at the same time.
"Wha—"
In the next second, strands of thread that were glowing with purple light surrounded him, wrapping tightly around his body, limiting his movement. He tried to struggle, but realized that he couldn’t even move an inch.
Sitting by a tree, Shen Qingyi watched the whole process, her eyes widened in disbelief. "At what time... did this happen?"
Seeing this, Mo Shiyan let out a soft smile. Then he looked toward the captain and explained, "Weren’t you asking me where my companion was before? I think now you know the answer to that question."
"When did you start setting this up? Why can’t I detect his aura around?" the captain asked, his voice full of confusion, mixed with some signs of curiosity.
"That... I guess it could be kept as a secret," a man’s voice suddenly rose from behind.
Shen Qingyi turned his head and saw another man gently landing on the ground in front of them. "How did this person come out... of nowhere...?"
This was my first time trying to open that space on my own and hide inside it. Although I still don’t understand how it works, at least I know that it was able to totally hide my aura such that I won’t get detected by others. It seems like even experienced Hunters couldn’t really see through it.
The only problem might be that its use of magical energy is way too much. If it wasn’t that Shiyan had finished the fight fast enough, I would have been exposed.
Thinking that, Jiang Zihan walked toward Mo Shiyan, asking, "How are your injuries?"
Mo Shiyan shook his head, playfully placing a hand on Jiang Zihan’s head and ruffling his hair. "I’m fine. No need to worry," he replied.
"I said to not touch my head! I’ll never grow any taller if you keep doing that!" Jiang Zihan complained again, though he did not actually stop him from doing so.
Just as the two of them were playing around, the captain suddenly let out a soft chuckle, lifting his head up while he laughed even harder. "Hahahahaha!"
The laughter immediately caught their attention. Shen Qingyi felt a bit nervous, staring at him cautiously while she subconsciously pulled her unconscious brother tighter into her arms, as if that would give her a sense of security.
When he finally stopped laughing, he looked toward Jiang Zihan, a light flickering through his eyes. "It seems like this year’s freshmen are a lot more interesting than the previous years. Mengyao and Linyuan must also be excited," he said with a smile on his face.
"This time, I lost. However, I will still be waiting for the both of you on the academy rankings," he said as a token suddenly appeared in his hand. He crushed the token, and in the next second, a mist surrounded him. By the time the mist disappeared, he also vanished in place without them having the time to react.
However, Mo Shiyan had noticed that there were several cards lying where the captain had been standing before.
