Chapter 689: Chasing a Vampire
Chapter 689: Chasing a Vampire
Back in the Purist Vampire lair…
“By now, our brethren have probably taken control of that Iron Maiden religion and used it to exert our influence inside Metropolis,” said the Purist Vampire Leader. “Now, all that’s left is to tie up loose ends.”
The Purist Vampires bit their own fingers, using their blood to create their own weapons. They stared at Michael and Guillermo with bloodlust in their eyes. A talented boy like Michael would serve as good nourishment for their worship.
“I’ll take care of this,” Guillermo whispered to Michael, bringing out his own blood sword to fight against the Vampires. “You escape and warn the rest of Metropolis about their plans. We can’t let them have that Iron Maiden religion.”
But of course, the Purist Vampires wouldn’t allow that. The only way that they could safely operate in the darkness of Metropolis was if no one knew that they were even there.
By the time that they took over the Iron Maiden religion, even the Major Factions won’t be able to get rid of them so easily due to the fact that churches and companies worked under different rules.
They simply couldn’t get rid of a religion because that would be infringing on a person’s rights to their own beliefs. And if the Purist Vampires were able to coerce citizens to willingly believe in their words, then no one in Metropolis would be able to stop them.
“It’s alright,” Michael assured Guillermo. “I can take care of all of them.”
Using the new feature of his Drone, he was able to look at the Purist Vampires in a completely new light.
He saw the glowing orange light in their Dao Hearts. And on top of their heads, he was able to see the exact cultivation levels they had as well as their unique blood power.
[Purist Vampire Leader]
[5th Dao Stage]
[Feiry Blood: this Vampire is able to endow an inextinguishable fire using his blood as its fuel.]
Their leader was basically the only one that he had to be careful of. The other three were only in the 3rd or 4th Dao Stage, so he knew that he could easily deal with them without a problem.
“Boy… you have only spent your life fighting against humans. You have never encountered a Vampire like me,” said the Purist Leader.
The Vampire lunged at Michael, swinging his fiery blood axe towards him.
Michael reached down his pockets and flicked on his switch, equipping the Unity Saber in his hands.
With the flaming blood axe coming towards him, he clashed his Unity Saber in a defensive maneuver.
The Purist Leader smiled as he saw this, confident that he could burn whatever sword Michael had.
But as soon as the two weapons clashed, a high-pitched TSSS sound echoed throughout the room as Michael’s Unity Saber extinguished the blood axe, destroying it and turning it into a fine mist.
Shocked, the Purist Leader immediately jumped backwards. “What?! That’s impossible!”
Michael then immediately lunged forwards, with his Unity Saber at his side.
The three other Purist Vampires immediately intercepted him, bearing their own blood weapons at him.
But it was at that moment that the two drones above Michael glowed with a white light as their gun barrels gathered up power. And then in an instant, a Unity beam shot towards the two Vampires and hit them in their chests, destroying their Dao Hearts.
Just as the two Vampires turned into dust, Michael changed his posture and targeted the remaining Vampire, piercing his Unity Saber towards his throat, decapitating him.
Within just a few seconds, Michael killed the last three Purist Vampires, leaving only their leaders cowering in fear on the corner of the room.
“You! What the hell are those weapons?!”
The Purist Leader wouldn’t have ever known that there could be a flying weapon that could shoot out instantaneous lasers that could kill a Vampire in less than a second. If he did, then he would have already run away!
“…damn it! You’re just a human!” the Purist Leader screamed.
Faced with this realization, the Purist Vampire knew that he wasn’t going to survive another encounter with Michael.
So, he decided to do what Vampires did best.
He went into hiding.
A shadow enveloped the Purist Leader like a tornado, leaving his entire body blending into the very darkness of the room itself. If any other person were here, they wouldn’t be able to see where the Vampire disappeared off to.
“He’s running away!” Guillermo warned. But Michael moved even before his words, immediately running after the Vampire with his Drones right behind him.
Using the Beastfolk Vision, he was able to track the Purist Leader’s movements through the maze of their lair, keeping up with him.
“WHAT?! How is he able to see me?!” the Vampire complained. He was in complete stealth! Even fellow Vampires wouldn’t be able to see him in the darkness!
Eventually, the Purist Vampire leaped out of a window and into the open streets of Metropolis. He began jumping in between the dark shadows of buildings, making his movements as erratic as possible.
But even though Michael was able to keep up with him, the Purist Vampire was still slippery enough to evade capture even till now.
“We can’t let him escape!” Guillermo said as he lagged behind Michael and the Purist Leader.
Michael knew that but didn’t have a direct solution to the problem. Speed wasn’t his specialty, after all.
One thing he thought of was to use his switches to literally stop the Purist Vampire in his tracks. But with the distance between them, he wouldn’t be able to accurately attach it to his body.
I’ll just throw as many switches as I have. Thankfully, I already stocked up thousands of them in my inventory.
He was prepared to chase the Purist Vampire through the ends of the earth, chucking switches at him every second.
But just then, a notification appeared in front of him.
[Congratulations. Fudge has achieved a breakthrough. He has now awakened his Aubility and his Diva]
Michael’s eyes widened.
Woah, hahaha. I knew that little rascal could do it.
When the Purist Vampire told him they were planning on taking over the Iron Maiden religion, he knew that they would have to face the little ninja slime. And with that mischievous rascal’s personality, he knew that he wouldn’t let that happen on his watch.
There must have been an altercation which allowed Fudge to push past his limits.
That’s great. But how did you know, ChatJK5?
[This is one of the new features in my software update. Those that you have bestowed gifts onto are stored in my database. But it was only when you gave them GodForge pieces that I was able to connect with them and even access their powers remotely.]
That’s pretty cool, I guess.
[Oh, you don’t know the half of it. Please check your Drone’s Upgrade Options shop.]
He did as ChatJK5 told him to do and focused on the void in his mind.
The upgrades were just as he saw them earlier today, but there was one new window that had a flashing border, drawing his attention towards it.
