Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 688: Devilish shadow

Chapter 688: Devilish shadow

The Purist Vampires looked around them, unable to find the mischievous slime anywhere around them.

“Tsk, he must have been scared. Whatever. We’ll just continue with our plans,” said one of the Purist Vampires. “Continue with the blood sacrifice. After this, we’ll use the Iron Maiden religion as our puppet organization to take over everything in Metropolis—OW!”

Everyone turned to look at him, only to see that another Vampire had used his sharp hands and stabbed another Vampire straight through his torso.

“What the hell are you doing?!” the Vampires asked them. “Are you insane?”

Insane?” the Vampire asked back. “No. I’ve just achieved enlightenment. I see now that we have been mistaken in thinking that we can revive the Great Gaia through the sacrifice of millions and millions of humans. That’s not very ninja-like.

They all looked at him as if he was crazy. His words were nothing but sacrilege. Just speaking ill about their mission for the Great Gaia was a crime worthy of death.

“You have gone far enough. It may be time for you to sacrifice your own life for the betterment of the whole Vampire race.”

All the Purist Vampires walked towards the traitor. Each one of their hands grew sharper, tougher, and longer. Their nails were enough to slice some of the toughest metals in the world.

“Wait! Wait! That’s not me! That was—”

But no matter how much he protested, his death was already set in stone.

They decapitated the traitor, his head flying off and turning into dust in the air.

Unbeknownst to any of them, underneath the cover of darkness, the devilish smiling figure slid off into the Vampire that performed the execution, as if the curse of the Malevolent Passenger was passed on.

“Good riddance, am I right? That guy wasn’t a good ninja at all,”

said the infected Vampire. “But let’s be honest. He does have a point. Why do we have to kill millions of humans anyway? It’s much better if we just leave them alone.”

The other Vampires stared at him, wondering why he was the one acting weird all of a sudden.

“You wish to experience death as well?”

“It looks like our faith in the Great Gaia has been faltering as of late. We must purge all those doubting our mission.”

They walked towards the infected Vampire, intending to sever his head as well.

“Wait,” said one of the Vampires. “Something’s wrong.”

It was only now did their eldest Purist Vampire realize what was happening. He looked at the infected Vampire’s shadow, seeing a faint devilish smiling face cackling silently.

“You!”

The eldest Vampire lunged at the shadow, piercing its long hands on the ground and pulverizing the stone brick.

The devilish shadow burst like a balloon upon contact with the Vampire’s bloody nails.

“Hehehehehe.”

The Devilish Shadow’s cackles echoed after its destruction.

“Kurgh!”

The infected Vampire clutched his chest, with blood spilling from his mouth.

Somehow, the Devilish Shadow was able to link itself to the Vampire, letting him incur the same injury that affected the shadow.

“Hehehehe, you like that? That’s my Diva!” Fudge declared, with his voice echoing around the Vampires.

“That’s not possible! You’re… you’re a monster! You’re not human!” the Purist Vampire lashed.

“Everything’s possible with my Master! I can even make you guys fight against each other!”

Suddenly, Fudge appeared from the shadows and bounced off of a Vampire.

As if marked by death, a devilish shadow appeared beneath his feet, becoming infected by Fudge’s Aubility.

“The Iron Maiden reigns supreme!” said Fudge, using the Vampire’s body to do his bidding as if he was his puppet.

This was Fudge’s Aubility! Those he touched will be marked with the Devilish Shadow, making them surrender all sense of agency towards the slime.

Fudge commanded the Vampire, making him lunge towards the Vampire next to him.

The Vampire barely dodged the attack, with the nails scraping past his cheeks.

“You!”

And out of pure instinct, the Vampire performed a counter-attack, summoning a sword made out of blood and lunging it at the infected Vampire.

Fudge smiled, moving the infected Vampire directly in the line of the blood sword, letting it pierce through his heart.

The infected Vampire turned to dust, fading in the wind.

And before he died, the Devilish Shadow moved onto its next target.

Two down, there were just three Vampires to go. And all of them died due to their own hands.

Fudge immediately commanded the new Infected Vampire to lunge at the rest of the three Vampires, with blood sword in hand.

The other Vampires bit their own thumbs, letting the blood drip out of their fingers to create a blood weapon of their own.

“Stop! They’re being controlled by that slime!” warned the eldest Purist Vampire.

With the Infected Vampire lunging at them, the other Vampires froze in place. If they weren’t going to attack, then they’d get killed by the infected. And if they defended themselves, then they’d be killing another one of their own!

Then, the Infected Vampire ran amok, swinging his blood sword everywhere.

“Restrain him!” ordered the eldest Vampire.

The Purist Vampires turned into shadows and reappeared beside the Infected one, holding his hands in place.

The Eldest Vampire used his blood sword and swung it at the shadow underneath the infected’s feet, intending to destroy the malicious Diva.

But it was at that moment that the Devilish Shadow Diva moved to the next Vampire, immediately using its blood sword to pierce his own heart.

And before the Vampire turned into dust, the devilish shadow moved onto the next Vampire. And with its sharp hands, he decapitated the other Vampire right next to him, turning two into dust in quick succession.

In the blink of an eye, there were just two Vampires left.

The Eldest among them stared at the infected Vampire in front of him, pursing his lips. “A mere slime…”

“I’m not just a slime. I’m the Great Slime!” Fudge smiled.

The Infected Vampire pointed its own blood sword towards its chest and fell forward, piercing his own Dao Heart.

As the ashes scattered with the wind, there was just one Purist left. The Eldest Vampire looked around, his pale face showing an unusual red tint as anger and embarrassment filled his head.

“Your strange shadow power may work on lesser Vampires. But it will not work on me. I am at the 2nd stage of the Dao.”

With Fudge only having recently awakened his Aubility, he was only at the 1st stage of Body Formation. Common sense dictated that his shadow power Aubility would not work on someone at a higher level.

Confident with this, the Eldest Vampire held his hands out, welcoming the ninja slime.

“Go ahead. See if you can—”

Fudge emerged out of the shadows and lunged at the Vampire, bouncing off his chest and imprinting the devilish shadow beneath his feet.

The Eldest Vampire smile dropped as he saw his own hand raising up to point his own blade towards his own chest.

“N…n…no…” he muttered out. But the sword continued to move, eventually piercing through his chest.

With the last of his strengths, the Purist Vampire glared at Fudge. “We.. will prevail… our leader… will avenge us…”

Fudge shrugged. “Nah, my master will stop him.”

Finally, the last Purist Vampire turned into dust, creating silence and peace for the night.
