Chapter 605: Depleted
Chapter 605: Depleted
The ’Quantum Step’ was a powerful technique. So powerful, in fact, that not even a 7th stage Body Formation Knight could react to it.
However, with great power came with an even greater cost.
His Aubility Power was almost depleted. At this point, he could probably only use one switch at a time.
How do I recover my AP?
[Just rest,] Harbinger advised. [Aubility Power will naturally recover with enough rest. It will probably take you half an hour to return to your peak form.]
That’s not bad, he thought. It would have been extremely bad if he could only recover his AP after a day’s rest.
Though, this was also not ideal. If he became dead beat tired every time that he used his ’Quantum Step’, then that meant that he’d be only able to use it as a last resort. A trump card, if you will.
That was still good, of course. Knowing that he had a card up his sleeve that would allow him to escape or engage at any time was a good thing to keep his peace of mind.
But this would mean that for the majority of the game, he’d have to resort to his normal powers—powers that were completely inadequate in this game.
If he could use his ’Quantum Leap’ more freely, then he’d be able to fight against the other players on even ground. It would have lowered the gap between him and the other Maugnetics in the Pocket Dimension.
With how much AP the ’Quantum Leap’ consumed, that didn’t seem possible.
[What are you talking about? You already invented that thing. Use it.]
He looked down at his chest and saw the conjoined blocks of the iron switch and the reverse graphite block.
This was what allowed him to pull off the impossible. It allowed him to siphon off the 7th stage Aubility Power of the Knight and use it to power his ’Quantum Leap’.
During that time, he didn’t know what he was doing. He was just simply following the instincts that were born from his idea.
But now that he observed it much more closely, he started to understand what he truly created.
This was a battery.
All Aubility Power was made from millions of strings. And the effects that an Aubility created were based off of the shape and form unique only to that Aubility.
His switch had a lot of curves, his reverse block had a lot of zigzags, and the Knight’s flames were made out of many combinations of knots.
He had a theory that every AP stored in the GodForge pieces were made out of basic strings with just a single line with no curves or angles.
And when a Maugnetic starts to use them to perform an Aubility, those basic strings would then be converted into those unique shapes.
That was what prevented Maugnetics from using someone else’s Aubility Power to power their own Aubility.
However, he found a work-around for that.
Basically, he used his reverse graphite block to replay time back to when those strings were made out of a basic straight line, making them pure Aubility Power.
And then, his switch paused those AP in one spot, effectively storing power to be used at a later date.
That was how his new battery worked.
What’s great about this was that he wasn’t fighting against someone else’s Aubility.
If he was, then his technological Aubility blocks wouldn’t work. The Knight’s 7th stage cultivation would have easily defeated his 4th stage AP blocks.
Instead, he was simply redirecting the Knight’s AP.
He wasn’t fighting it, so it didn’t fight against him.
This meant that he would basically be able to siphon out any kind of Aubility Power from any Maugnetic! It didn’t matter if they were in the 7th stage or in the 9th stage!
[Kukuku… that’s why you should start fighting more Maugnetics. The reason why you feel so fatigued after the ’Quantum Leap’ is because you had to use your own Aubility Power. If you had siphoned off enough AP, then you could have even used it twice and not get tired.]
Harbinger’s bloodthirstiness was starting to rub off on him. He was now starting to think that it was a great idea to just start waving his flag around to attract all the other players into fighting with him.
He wanted to fill up as many batteries as he could. After that, he could basically execute ’Quantum Leap’ as many times as he could!
He was now starting to understand why Harbinger wanted him to play in this game. This Pocket Dimension was filled with high-leveled Maugnetics, each one having an enormous amount of Aubility Power just waiting to be siphoned!
[Kukuku! Now you’re speaking my language!]
He had to calm himself down. Saying it was one thing, doing it was another.
For him to actually siphon off AP, then he needed to have close contact with a Maugnetic’s Aubility. This meant that he’d basically have to put his life on the line every time he wanted to charge his battery, which wasn’t ideal.
Is there any other way?
As he was in deep thought, the sound of the Drone’s propellers continued to buzz near his ears.
He turned his head around, looking at his own Drone.
Then, an idea struck his head.
What if I use my Drone?
He could be far away from the fight and only have his Drone approach the battle. Then, equipped with the battery on its frame, he would pilot it to get as close to the Aubilities as possible, siphoning off their energy!
Of course, this would put his Drone in danger, but since it was made out of pure Mithril, he was sure that it could take a few hits without even incurring a scratch.
The more he thought about it, the more excited he became.
That’s not all. If I purchase the mini drone upgrade, then I could potentially charge two batteries at once!
He was sure of his answer now more than ever.
Back then, he was debating on whether to get the (mini drone + Unity Gun Mk. 2) upgrade versus the (muffled propellers + invisible frame).
But now, his thoughts have changed.
Now, he was planning on getting the mini drone and the invisibility option—costing one and two drops respectively.
This would allow him to charge two batteries and still be stealthy and approach battles without other people knowing that it was even there. He’d be able to charge his Drones unbeknownst to anyone.
But because of his budget, he couldn’t upgrade it to full stealth. The propellers still created a buzzing sound that could be heard even from far away.
Still, even if other people could hear his Drone from far away, they wouldn’t be able to know its exact location unless they spent a lot of time searching for it.
And since he’d only be targeting people who were already embroiled in tough battles, they would be hard pressed to have the time to find where the buzzing sound was coming from.
Wasting no time, he immediately pulled up the Drone’s upgrade window and started purchasing what he wanted.
A few seconds later, nanoparticles emerged out of the Drone’s frame and began forming its new upgrades.
