The sound instantly caught the attention of many people in the hall.

Wu Yun frowned. That was Wen Meng’s voice. He turned to look and saw that the young man who had originally been sitting next to Kong Sheng had, at some point, run over to the neighboring table of actors.

The man’s face was beet red as he held a glass, swaying unsteadily as he tried to force Wen Meng to drink with him. The glass in his right hand was nearly touching her face.

With a sharp SMACK, Qi Fei slapped the glass from his hand, spilling liquor all over Kong Xin.

Rage burned within Wu Yun. He slammed his glass down on the table and strode quickly toward the neighboring table.

But just as Wu Yun slammed his glass down, someone else moved even faster.

The usually mild-mannered Kong Sheng wore a rare expression of fury. He rushed to Kong Xin’s side in just a few steps and slapped him hard across the face. The powerful blow sent the already unsteady Kong Xin sprawling to the ground.

"Damn it, do you know who I am!?" Kong Xin roared, trying to scramble up from the floor.

Before Kong Xin could move, a chair came crashing down on his back.

"You worthless son!"

THUD! Kong Xin was slammed flat on the floor, but he kept roaring curses, seemingly impervious to the pain.

When Kong Sheng raised the chair to strike again, several staff members, evidently acting on instructions, scrambled to restrain him and pry the chair from his hands.

By now, Wu Yun was standing beside Wen Meng and Qi Fei, his bodyguards having formed a tight circle around them.

Wu Yun, who had been seething with rage just moments before, felt his anger dissipate as he saw Kong Xin getting beaten so brutally by his own father. He simply watched the scene with cold eyes.

Kong Sheng broke free from their grip and landed another hard kick on Kong Xin’s shoulder, sending the already drunk man rolling across the floor.

"I’m going to beat you to death today, you absolute disgrace!"

The crowd surged forward again, desperately holding on to Kong Sheng.

This was a wrap party, after all. Hou Hongliang’s face was grim as he pointed to two employees, one of whom was Li Ming, who was known to be friendly with Kong Xin. "You two, get Kong Xin out of here! Find a place for him to sober up!"

Still feeling uneasy, Hou Hongliang had two more people follow them.

Only when Kong Xin was finally dragged out of the hall did Kong Sheng’s stream of curses subside, though he was still fuming with an expression of bitter disappointment.

Kong Sheng glanced at Wen Meng and Qi Fei, who were being sheltered behind Wu Yun. By now, even a fool could tell the relationship between the three of them was anything but ordinary.

Kong Sheng felt a wave of relief that he had acted so decisively. With a wry smile, he picked up his liquor glass and a bottle of liquor from his own table and walked toward Wu Yun.

But he had only taken two steps before two tall, Caucasian bodyguards blocked his path.

"Let me through!"

Receiving a signal, Da Xiong and Caviar stepped aside, clearing a path for Kong Sheng.

Kong Sheng filled the glass in his hand to the brim. His right hand was still trembling slightly from the adrenaline rush, making the glass shake.

With a wry smile, Kong Sheng said, "President Wu, I am so sorry. I have failed in raising my son! I’ve caused you and these two young ladies a great deal of trouble!"

"I’ll be sure to teach him a harsh lesson when I get him home! After he’s sobered up, I’ll have him come and offer a formal apology!"

"I’m truly sorry!" Without waiting for Wu Yun to respond, he downed three full glasses of liquor in a row.

Just as Kong Sheng was about to pour a fourth glass, Wu Yun caught his hand. With a calm expression, Wu Yun said, "Director Kong, that’s enough for today. After all, nothing truly serious happened, and you’ve already taught him a lesson. Let’s just forget about it."

"I just hope that you’ll discipline your son more strictly in the future, Director Kong. Judging from his behavior, this isn’t the first time he’s done something like this."

Kong Sheng nodded repeatedly. "Yes, yes! You’re absolutely right, President Wu! Don’t you worry, I’ll give him another lesson when I get home! He’ll get a taste of my belt!"

"Later, I will drag this worthless son to your door to offer a proper apology!"

Wu Yun stepped aside, revealing Wen Meng behind him. "Whether or not your son is forgiven is up to this lady."

Taking the hint, Kong Sheng immediately raised his glass. "Ma’am! My apologies, my son was impudent today!"

With that, he once again drained the liquor from the small cup in his hand.

Seeing that Kong Sheng was about to drink again, Wen Meng, who had never witnessed such a scene, hesitated for a moment before speaking up to stop him. "That’s enough! You’ve already apologized! Let’s just let the matter end here."

Seeing the matter finally come to a close, the surrounding onlookers breathed a collective sigh of relief. After all, everyone present was a colleague or partner; there was no need to let such a small incident make things unbearably ugly.

"Since the lady has forgiven him, this matter is officially over!"

Wu Yun then returned to his seat, raised his glass, and announced in a loud voice, "Everyone, today is the wrap party for Disguiser. I’d like to propose a toast! Thank you all for your hard work these past few months!"

The people at the other tables all rose and raised their glasses.

"Bottoms up!"

"Cheers!"

Wu Yun set his glass down on the table and said to Wei Feng, who was sitting with him, "President Wei, I’m heading out. Please have a few more drinks with President Hou and the others in my place."

"Everyone, my apologies! I have some things to attend to this evening, so I’ll be taking my leave."

The others at the table also stood up, intending to see Wu Yun out.

"Please, stay and chat! No need to see me out!" Wu Yun said with a smile, stopping them. He then turned and led the way toward the exit.

As he passed the actors’ table, Wu Yun made a point of stopping to speak with Hu Ge. "Teacher Hu, when you have a moment, take a look at The Immortal Ascension. You can give our screenwriters your thoughts! We’ll have someone contact your agent in a few days to discuss compensation."
