Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 429 - 375: I Haven’t Even Started, and You’re Already Down
The person on the other end of the line had even a good-natured tech geek like Ding Wei fuming. He grabbed his phone, ready to call back, but Wu Yun stopped him.
Wu Yun, who was filming with his phone, said calmly, "Minister Ding, don’t bother. I’ll just leave my car here. We’ll let it sit for a day or two. Let’s head on up. A multi-million deal is a big project! We should let him finish his talk."
With that, Wu Yun shut the door of the Big Black Bull and locked it.
"Let’s go. We have our own project worth a few hundred thousand to discuss!" As he spoke, Wu Yun stopped filming.
The onlookers parted, making way for Wu Yun and Ding Wei to easily enter the elevator lobby.
...
In an office, a middle-aged man in his thirties or forties angrily hung up the phone and slammed it down on the sofa beside him.
"Old Liu, I think you should go down and move your car. After all, you’re in the wrong here," advised a middle-aged man in a dress shirt from the main seat, having witnessed the whole exchange.
"Ah, President Wang, don’t worry about him. He’ll give up and leave soon enough!" Liu Han waved his hand dismissively, then continued, "President Wang, we’re old partners! Just let me handle the first phase of this project. I can front ten million in startup capital right away!"
"I heard about the client’s requirements—they won’t make any progress payments until the construction is above ground level. Think about it. How many of your company’s suppliers can afford to front the costs for that long?"
Hearing this, the expression on President Wang’s face showed that he was tempted.
Liu Han pressed his advantage. "President Wang, I won’t short you a single cent of your company’s commission."
"We’ve been partners for years! The quality of my work has never been an issue, not once!"
After a moment’s hesitation, President Wang extended his hand. "Old Liu! In that case, here’s to another successful partnership!"
Liu Han stood up, puffing out his burgeoning gut, and shook his hand with a smile. "President Wang! To our success!"
The two then chatted about industry matters for another half hour before a knock came at the door.
Liu Han glanced at his watch and stood up. "President Wang, I’ll treat you to dinner tonight. How about a casual meal?"
"Not today! My kid’s coming home from school, and my wife insists I be there."
"Alright, then! I’ll head out, President Wang. You name the time, I’m free whenever!" Liu Han tucked his bag under his arm and made a "call me" gesture to President Wang.
Liu Han’s mood, initially soured by the phone call, had improved greatly after securing the project. He hummed a tune, bobbing his head as he walked to the elevator lobby. Since the morning rush was over, an elevator going down arrived quickly.
"Ninth Sister! Oh, Ninth Sister! My pretty little sister!"
"Ninth Sister! Oh, Ninth Sister! Like a fiery flower~" The song Liu Han was humming died in his throat.
There, parked right behind his car, was a slightly dusty Lamborghini.
Liu Han walked closer to take a look. The Lamborghini’s driver was nowhere to be seen.
His temper flaring, Liu Han circled around to the front of the car but found no contact number left on the dash.
Suddenly, he remembered something. He opened his phone, found the number in his call history, and dialed. He was met with an immediate busy signal.
After waiting a few minutes and getting the same result on several more attempts, Liu Han instantly realized he’d been blacklisted.
But Liu Han didn’t panic. He simply took out a second phone and dialed the number.
RING... RING...
"Hello, this is Xie Ling, secretary to the president of Little Red Car. May I ask what business you have with President Wu?" A pleasant female voice answered. It wasn’t the man from before. Liu Han’s anger cooled slightly, but he still commanded harshly, "Get down here and move your car!"
But the young woman on the other end had a bit of a temper herself—whether on Wu Yun’s instructions or not was anyone’s guess. "I’m sorry, but our President Wu is still in a meeting. I’ll ask for his instructions once he’s finished."
Hearing the dial tone, Liu Han finally understood what it felt like to be hoisted by his own petard.
After pacing back and forth a few times, Liu Han forced himself to swallow his anger. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to explode, but the sight of the Lamborghini parked behind him gave him pause.
That wasn’t a car for ordinary people. The kind of person who bought a car like that came from a background he needed to curry favor with. No matter how arrogant and domineering Liu Han was, he only dared to bully common folk.
He looked up at the sign above the parking spot he was partially occupying.
Liu Han murmured to himself, "Reserved for Little Red Car."
’Little Red Car?’ Liu Han thought the name sounded familiar, as if he’d heard it somewhere before.
So, Liu Han took out his phone and did a search.
...
Little Red Car, Chairman’s Office.
Wu Yun had finished reviewing Little Red Car’s performance reports from the last few months. Everything was trending in the right direction.
Little Red Car was now available in every major provincial capital across the country, though with a higher concentration of bikes in coastal and eastern cities.
By the end of March, Little Red Car had deployed a total of 7.8 million shared bikes nationwide, with registered users reaching 60 million.
"President Wu, according to our research, Little Yellow Car and Mobike have both launched their own expansion plans."
Li Qiuliang sat up straight and said grimly, "Little Yellow Car is adopting a saturation strategy. Their bike production process is simpler than ours, so their monthly output is nearly catching up to us."
"We’ve spotted Little Yellow Car’s street teams in many second and third-tier cities."
