Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 428 - 374: Full of Tea Flavor, an Arrogant Land Rover
Wu Yun had a particular fondness for beef noodle soup, and since he hadn’t eaten it in a while, he went ahead and ordered a large bowl of the red broth soup with extra beef.
When Wu Yun’s large bowl of red broth beef noodle soup was brought to the table, Zhang Qiuyue remarked with a sigh, "It’s true that athletic people have bigger appetites!"
Zhang Qiuyue glanced at Wen Meng, who was eating plain rice porridge, and continued, "That red broth looks so appetizing. I usually love spicy food, but I stayed up too late last night, so it’s better for me to eat something light."
Wen Meng picked up a piece of pickled vegetable, looked at Zhang Qiuyue, whose eyes were completely fixed on Wu Yun, and laughed inwardly. ’She’s trying so hard to show that she and Wu Yun have common interests!’
’And she just had to mention staying up late last night. Why did she stay up late? Her social media post already gave the reason.’
Wu Yun smiled. "It’s been a long time since I’ve had our Sichuan-style beef noodles! The food overseas is fine to try once in a while, but I can’t get used to the flavors long-term."
Wen Meng finally spoke up. "Next time you go abroad, I’m definitely going with you! After seeing your Hollywood photos and the pictures with those celebrities, I really want to see it all for myself! I’m a huge fan of Dwayne Johnson! *Furious 7* is coming out in a few days—you have to take me to see it!"
Wu Yun put an arm around Wen Meng’s shoulder. "No problem! Johnson is coming to Huaxia in a while. I’ll have him sign an autograph for you."
Wen Meng knew Wu Yun was collaborating with Rock Johnson, so she didn’t say much more, just nodded happily.
Zhang Qiuyue, however, looked envious. "I’m so jealous of you, Senior Sister! I’m a fan of Emma! Ever since I saw the news about student Wu Yun, I’ve wanted to ask if you could get an autograph for me too!"
Hearing Zhang Qiuyue’s triple-layered comment, Wen Meng mentally raised Zhang Qiuyue’s threat level.
’If Wu Yun were the jealous type, this would definitely make him question Wen Meng. See, Wen Meng likes a male celebrity, unlike her, who likes a female one.’
’She also brought up Wu Yun’s past scandal with Emma, trying to plant another thorn in Wen Meng’s heart, while also expressing her desire to get closer to Wu Yun.’
Wen Meng, of course, wouldn’t let Zhang Qiuyue have her way. She smiled and said, "Next time my junior and I go to the United States, I’ll help you get one."
Wu Yun didn’t know how the emperor felt in one of those palace intrigue dramas on TV, but he was starting to get a taste of it now.
He glanced at his watch, quickly polished off the noodles and beef in his bowl, and said, "Are you guys done? I’ve got to go! There’s something at the company!"
Wen Meng also stood up. "Almost! I’ll go pay!"
When Wen Meng returned after paying, she happened to hear Zhang Qiuyue asking Wu Yun, "Student Wu Yun, does Senior Sister Wen Meng usually handle the money?"
"Of course not! I wouldn’t dare manage all of my junior’s money. This is just my own living expense!" From her interactions with Zhang Qiuyue, Wen Meng already knew what she was going to say next—something along the lines of how she wouldn’t control a man’s finances.
Sure enough, Zhang Qiuyue said, "Oh, I thought Senior Sister Wen Meng was the one managing the money! I was going to ask to learn some financial management tips from you! My allowance is always just barely enough!"
Wen Meng looped her arm through Wu Yun’s. "If you want to learn, you can start by buying a book!"
After saying that, she ignored the four people behind them and pulled Wu Yun to walk ahead.
Xie Miao nudged Zhang Qiuyue’s arm and whispered, "Qiuyue, what’s with you? It feels like you’re being confrontational with Senior Sister! Are you not going to give up?"
Xie Miao hadn’t seen the social media post Zhang Qiuyue had limited to just two viewers, but after a semester of interaction, she knew Zhang Qiuyue’s habits well. Although she wasn’t a bad person, she was full of little schemes.
Many girls in their class didn’t have a good impression of Zhang Qiuyue, but she was surprisingly popular with the boys. As a result, she had a whole legion of simps trailing behind her, often seen giving her gifts. There were even some from well-off families among them.
Zhang Qiuyue nodded. "I’m going to compete for him. After all, Wu Yun and Wen Meng are just boyfriend and girlfriend. Nothing’s set in stone until they’re married!"
The other roommate had a neutral opinion of Zhang Qiuyue. Living under the same roof, she usually kept her thoughts to herself, but now she couldn’t help but want to watch the drama unfold. She asked, "Qiuyue, what’s your plan?"
Zhang Qiuyue gave a mysterious smile. "You’ll just have to wait and see!"
As they spoke, the group arrived at the underground garage.
Zhang Qiuyue’s eyes flashed with envy and desire as she watched Wen Meng pull open the driver’s door of a G63.
She then turned her gaze to Wu Yun and saw him pull up the scissor door of a black Lamborghini next to it, skillfully slide into the driver’s seat, and close the door.
A moment later, the roar of an engine starting echoed through the entire garage.
The Lamborghini’s window rolled down, revealing Wu Yun’s handsome face and making Zhang Qiuyue wish she could jump into the passenger seat right that instant.
"You guys can take Senior Sister’s car back to school! I have to go, I’ve got something to take care of!"
Wu Yun had just pulled the car out of the parking spot when he stopped again. He said to Wen Meng, who was standing by the open driver’s door adjusting the seat memory, "Senior Sister, remember to tell Lai Yi about getting together tonight! I’ll call Yongheng in a bit!"
With that, the Lamborghini sped off, quickly disappearing around a corner of the garage.
"What are you still looking at? Get in!" Wen Meng started the engine and called for the others to get in the car.
...
Wu Yun felt like it had been a long time since he’d been to the Little Red Car office. But as soon as he reached the entrance of the office park, he found a long line of cars waiting to get in.
Wu Yun checked the time and smacked his forehead. He had been so focused on getting to the company early that he’d completely forgotten it was the morning rush hour.
But Wu Yun wasn’t in a hurry to clock in, so he slowly merged into a space that a car behind him had opened up.
Entering the underground garage, Wu Yun navigated to his parking spot by habit, only to be annoyed by the scene that greeted him.
A black Range Rover was parked head-in, taking up two spots. The one on the right was Wu Yun’s—the sign for "Little Red Car Reserved Parking" was perfectly clear.
So Wu Yun simply pulled over and parked his car behind the Range Rover, getting out under the watchful eyes of other drivers.
Wu Yun walked to the front of the car and saw that the owner had actually left a phone number.
He took out his work phone and dialed the number.
After a few rings, the person on the other end picked up.
"Hello! Who’s this?" A man’s arrogant-sounding voice came from the phone.
Wu Yun’s brow furrowed, but he said, "Please come down and move your car. It’s in my spot."
"Alright, hang on." The man hung up before Wu Yun could say another word.
Wu Yun was fuming, but since the man said he was coming, Wu Yun simply got back in his car to wait.
But after more than ten minutes, no one showed up. Wu Yun started to get truly angry. He got out of his car, ready to call again.
As he was about to dial, Wu Yun recalled videos he’d seen on Douyin about parking space disputes. An idea struck him. Between recording audio or video, he chose to film a video.
So, Wu Yun first took out his personal phone, opened the camera, and started filming the scene, making sure to highlight the audacity of the Range Rover taking up two spaces.
Then he took out his work phone, redialed the number, and put it on speaker.
BEEP... BEEP... "The number you have dialed is currently busy."
Wu Yun’s brow furrowed involuntarily, and he tried calling again.
But the call was immediately disconnected.
Wu Yun was so angry he laughed. Just as he was about to dial again, he heard someone call from behind him, "President Wu! Morning!"
A man in his early thirties wearing a plaid shirt and carrying a laptop bag was walking over. It was Ding Wei, the head of the R&D department at Little Red Car.
When Ding Wei got closer, he immediately understood what was happening.
After hearing the situation, he volunteered, "President Wu, let me make the call. You just keep filming."
Ding Wei took the phone and dialed three times in a row.
The call finally connected on the last try. But before Ding Wei could even speak, the person on the other end started cursing.
"Are you fucking annoying or what?! Are you a fucking idiot? There are plenty of spots down there, can’t you just find another one to park in?! I’m in the middle of a business meeting! If you make me lose a deal worth tens of millions, can you afford to take responsibility?!"
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP... The line went dead again.
