Rebirth: I have Monopoly System

Chapter 430 - 375: I Haven’t Even Made My Move, and You’ve Already Fallen

"As for Mobike, they’re following a similar path to ours, trying to seize the market in first-tier and provincial capital cities."

"The incident in Modu hit Mobike pretty hard."

"But after that, the other shared bike companies wised up. They’re following in our footsteps and contacting the relevant authorities."

Li Qiuliang continued his report, "After more than two months of reorganization and development, the parking situation for shared bikes across the country has become much more regulated."

Wu Yun tapped his fingers rhythmically on the desk, contemplating the future of Little Red Car.

The hole created by misappropriating some of the initial deposits to manufacture bikes was gradually shrinking, thanks to Tencent’s investment and the increase in usage fees.

Of course, as long as Little Red Car continued to expand, this misappropriation of deposits wouldn’t stop. However, the scale was controllable. Even if Tencent didn’t provide more funding, Wu Yun could fill the gap himself.

Little Red Car wasn’t like other shared bike companies, including Little Yellow Car and Mobike. In their rush to expand, they had misappropriated massive amounts of deposit funds, some of which were even unaccounted for.

Wu Yun was currently wrestling with a decision: should he sell Little Red Car outright, or hold onto it and continue to accept financing?

"President Li..."

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! Before Wu Yun could finish, a knock sounded at the door.

"Come in!" Wu Yun looked toward the door.

A woman in her twenties wearing professional attire walked in. It was Li Qiuliang’s secretary, Xie Ling.

Xie Ling stood at the doorway and said, "President Wu, there’s a man named Liu Han at the front desk. He’s asking if you could please move your car."

"Oh?" Wu Yun recalled the morning’s incident, which he had completely forgotten about.

"What’s his attitude like?" Wu Yun asked.

Xie Ling thought of the contrast between Liu Han’s attitude on the phone and now, and she couldn’t help but smile. "When he called your cell phone earlier, his tone was a bit aggressive."

"But when he arrived at the company, he was very polite and courteous."

Wu Yun’s anger subsided a bit. He said, "Alright! Go tell him to wait! I’m still in a meeting!"

Xie Ling smiled and nodded. "Of course, President Wu!" She then closed the door behind her.

Wu Yun turned back to Li Qiuliang. "President Li, let’s continue. According to the plan, we can start laying the groundwork for the deposit crisis."

...

Xie Ling walked with small steps to the reception area. Seeing Liu Han, who was dressed like a big boss, she said with a smile, "Mr. Liu, my apologies. Our chairman is still in a meeting. I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a little longer."

His previous arrogance completely gone, Liu Han nodded quickly. "It’s no problem, no problem at all! I’m free anyway, so waiting is fine! We’ll talk when President Wu is done."

Just moments before, when he’d looked up the identity of Little Red Car’s chairman, Liu Han had grown more terrified with every search result. After getting a general idea of who Wu Yun was, his back was completely soaked in sweat.

’I can’t believe I picked a fight with the wrong person.’ Liu Han cursed himself inwardly more than once, berating his own big mouth.

A small-time boss like him was nothing compared to a big shot on the level of those famous tycoons.

He had even found out that Wu Yun’s Nirvana Investment had recently invested in a real estate development company—a solid 500 million yuan transfer!

As an industry insider, he knew exactly how many properties could be developed with 500 million yuan.

And that was just one company under Nirvana Investment. All of Wu Yun’s companies that could be found online had been consolidated under the Nirvana Investment banner.

’A magnate like that must have a terrifying network of connections. With a single word, he could make me, Liu Han, suffer serious consequences.’

Liu Han could only hope that President Wu hadn’t taken the matter to heart. He had to find a way to make amends.

He prayed he hadn’t offended such a powerful figure. Of course, if he handled this well, it might even be a golden opportunity for him to climb the ladder.

’What should I do?’

Time ticked by as Liu Han pondered his options.

At eleven-thirty, Liu Han heard a stir.

He looked up to see a group of men and women flanking a modestly dressed young man as they walked out.

Liu Han immediately recognized the young man as the Wu Yun he had been so anxiously waiting for.

He quickly stood up, moved to the aisle, and forced a smile. "President Wu! President Wu! Excuse me!"

Seeing Wu Yun stop, Liu Han no longer cared about losing face in front of everyone. He bowed slightly and said with an apologetic smile, "President Wu, I’m so sorry about this morning! My attitude was completely out of line!"

"I’m sorry! I was wrong! I shouldn’t have been so arrogant!" Liu Han then bent into a deep bow.

The others saw a middle-aged man in his thirties or forties bowing so subserviently. Although they didn’t know what had happened, they all felt his apology was very sincere.

Naturally, all eyes turned to Wu Yun.

Wu Yun had expected to run into one of those stubborn hotheads you see in the news, but he was surprised the man had caved so easily.

’Looks like sensible people are still the majority in the real world.’

Wu Yun started walking again. As he passed Liu Han, he said calmly, "Let’s go."

Having made Liu Han wait all morning, and seeing his sincere apology, Wu Yun’s anger had mostly dissipated. It wasn’t like they were mortal enemies, after all.

Having navigated the business world for years, Liu Han saw this and knew the matter was mostly resolved. From the looks of it, the man was heading down to get his car and leave.

Usually, Wu Yun would have Li Qiuliang and the others stop at the elevator. But today was different; Li Qiuliang followed him into the elevator, bringing Ding Wei along.

For a moment, no one in the elevator spoke.

Seeing his chance, Liu Han hesitated for a second before speaking up. "President Wu! I’m truly sorry about today. I was in a rush this morning and my words were harsh."

"How about this? I’ll book a table at Minshan Restaurant tonight to formally apologize to you!"

Wu Yun glanced at the middle-aged man dressed like a boss. The April weather wasn’t hot, yet beads of sweat were already forming on his forehead. It was clear he recognized his mistake.

Wu Yun shook his head. "No need. I have plans tonight. Let’s just leave today’s matter at this. I’ll just say you were lucky you caught me in a good mood. Next time, you might not get off so easily."

Liu Han wiped the sweat from his forehead and said with an apologetic smile, "There won’t be a next time, I promise! President Wu, I have your contact information now! How about I make an appointment with you in a few days to properly apologize?"

Wu Yun waved his hand dismissively. "That won’t be necessary."

Seeing Wu Yun refuse again, Liu Han had to drop it. Instead, he took a business card from his bag and presented it to Wu Yun with both hands. "President Wu, I run a small construction company. If you ever have a need for my services, please don’t hesitate to call. I’ll make sure the job gets done right, even if I don’t make a profit!"

Wu Yun casually took it and glanced at it: Rongcheng Four Rivers Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., Executive Director and General Manager, Liu Han.

Wu Yun didn’t comment, simply slipping the card into his briefcase.

Seeing this, Liu Han let out a huge sigh of relief internally.

DING-DONG~

The elevator soon arrived at the first basement level.

Wu Yun stepped out first, and the group quickly reached his parking spot.

As they arrived, Wu Yun noticed a security guard sitting on a stool placed in front of his car, looking around.

When the middle-aged guard saw Wu Yun and his group approach, he immediately stood up, set the stool aside, and said, "Mr. Wu, the property management was worried someone might scratch your car, so they had me stand guard here."

Wu Yun smiled and casually pulled two hundred-yuan bills from his briefcase, handing them to the guard.

Seeing the guard quickly wave his hands in refusal, Wu Yun said, "Thank you for watching my car, sir. Take this little bit of money and buy yourself some cigarettes. Don’t worry, if the management asks, just tell them I gave it to you."

Since Wu Yun had put it that way, the guard hesitated for a moment before accepting the money.

Beside them, Liu Han also took out two hundred yuan and handed it to the guard. "Sir, thank you for your trouble watching the car today! If it had gotten scratched, I would have been in big trouble!"

After Liu Han insisted, the guard joyfully took the money and left with his stool.

Wu Yun pulled open the scissor door and plopped into the driver’s seat. Liu Han, spouting pleasantries, eagerly helped him close the door.

VROOM~

It was the first time Liu Han had heard the roar of a sports car up close.

The window rolled down, and Wu Yun said to Li Qiuliang and the others, "President Li, you can all head back up. If there are any issues with the revised plan, just contact me."

After that, Wu Yun turned to Liu Han beside him. "I was planning on teaching you a lesson, but I hadn’t even started, and you already folded. Seeing as your apology today was sincere, we’ll leave it at that. Perhaps we’ll meet again."

Watching the Lamborghini drive away, Liu Han wiped the sweat from his forehead once more.
