RE: LORD OF TIME
Chapter 232: Black And White Towers (Part 1)
Hearing the sound of footsteps, Kalsh raised his head, and upon seeing William, a look of fear appeared on his face.
"Wh-who are you?" He asked in a trembling voice.
William stopped a few meters away from the man and, instead of answering his question, asked one of his own.
"What’s your name?"
Kalsh sighed in relief when William didn’t come any closer, as he was afraid the latter would attack him again.
He hesitated for a moment before answering.
"Kalsh."
William nodded and continued asking questions. "How old are you?"
Kalsh was taken aback by William’s question, but seeing his cold eyes, he still answered.
"Twnety Two years old."
William’s eyes gleamed slightly upon hearing this, and he carefully observed Kalsh.
’The power of his earlier attacks had reached the Star Lord level. To be able to reach a level comparable to a Star Lord at the age of twenty-two in this environment is preety impressive.’
For most talented people in the Vermilion Realm, reaching the Star Lord level by the age of twenty-two wasn’t very difficult.
In fact, there were tons of fourth-year students and even some very talented third-year students who had reached the Star Lord level at Sun and Moon Academy.
But this was only true for talented people. For the majority of people, reaching the Star Lord level by the age of thirty could be considered an impressive achievement.
And this person before him had reached a level comparable to a Star Lord by the age of twenty-two in a place like the Trial Realm, a place devoid of Aether Energy.
Either he was extremely talented among the natives of this world, or the cultivation system they practiced was powerful enough to allow him to reach such a level at a young age without the help of Aether Energy.
Sorting out his thoughts, William asked another question.
"Where are you from?"
Kalsh leaned against a boulder to sit more comfortably and relieve the pain coursing through his body before answering.
"Varhan City."
’As I thought, since Varhan City is the closest human settlement in this area, it’s natural for him to be from there.’
"I didn’t attack you intentionally," Kalsh suddenly said. "I was being chased by the Fire Spirits, and when I sensed someone behind the rock, I thought there were Fire Spirits planning to ambush me..." He looked at William sincerely. "I really didn’t know there were humans behind that rock. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have attacked you."
"I know," William replied flatly. "If your attack had been intentional, I wouldn’t have saved you and you would have already been burned to ashes by those Fire Spirits."
"Ughh..." Kalsh was speechless when he heard William’s words and didn’t know what to say.
He recalled the red lightning he had seen around William during the attack and asked in a hesitant voice, "Are you also from the White Tower?"
William paused upon hearing Kalsh’s words, and a faint gleam flashed in his eyes.
"What do you mean by ’also’? Are you from the White Tower as well?"
"Yes, yes!" Kalsh immediately nodded. "I am from the White Tower of Varhan City."
William smiled slightly and asked in a faint voice, "Why do you think I am from the White Tower?"
"That..." Kalsh tried to raise his hand to scratch his head but failed because both of his hands were broken. "If you aren’t from the White Tower, how did you use that lightning power?"
William raised an eyebrow at Kalsh’s response. ℯ
"Are you saying only people from the White Tower can use powers like lightning?"
Kalsh wanted to nod, but he suddenly remembered something, and his eyes widened slightly.
He swallowed nervously and asked in a trembling voice, "Are you... Are you from the Black Tower?"
Seeing the look of fear on Kalsh’s face, William frowned inwardly, but his expression remained unchanged.
"I am not from the Black Tower," He responded calmly before asking with a look of interest, "Why are you afraid of people from the Black Tower? Could it be that they aren’t good people?"
Hearing that William wasn’t from the Black Tower, Kalsh breathed a sigh of relief before shaking his head.
"Don’t act as if you don’t know about the Black Tower, brother. It’s not that they aren’t good people. It’s just... As you know, most of them have very weird personalities because of fusing with Crawlers."
’Fusing with Crawlers...’ William was stunned when he heard those words, and his eyes widened slightly.
He immediately wanted to ask more about it. However, judging by the way Kalsh spoke about the matter, it seemed to be common knowledge in this world. If he asked for too many details, Kalsh would definitely find it strange.
’Moreover, judging by the way he spoke, it seems people from the Black Tower can also use powers like lightning and other elements. But the reason they can use these powers is that they somehow fused themselves with Crawlers.’
William recalled how Malra had asked him whether he was from the Black Tower, and he finally understood why he had asked that question.
’It must have been because of the Vampire Wings I used at that time. He must have thought I had wings because I fused myself with a Crawler.’
William took a deep breath as his curiosity about the four Symbol Towers increased even more.
There were many things he wanted to ask Kalsh, but to make sure Kalsh wouldn’t suspect anything and would give him accurate information, he couldn’t ask him directly, as most of the things he wanted to know might be common knowledge in this world.
Suddenly, he thought of something, and his eyes lit up.
’I can use that method...’ He muttered to himself before speaking to Kalsh.
"You wanted to know if I was from the White Tower, right?"
Kalsh nodded at William’s question.
William remained silent for a moment, and a look of hesitation appeared on his cold face.
Taking a deep breath, he looked into Kalsh’s eyes and spoke seriously.
"Actually, even I don’t know if I am from the White Tower."
