RE: LORD OF TIME
Chapter 144: Tear Of God (Part 2)
A streak of black light cut through the air about one hundred meters above the ground, rapidly moving forward.
Normally, it would have been difficult for William to fly so easily with his wings, as it was the first time he was using them.
However, in his Bloodline Memories, he had practiced with his wings countless times and had even raced against some angels.
Because of this, although he was flying for the first time using his wings in the real world, he was easily able to control them.
’My current speed is comparable to a peak Star Commander...’ William thought as he performed an aerial drift high in the sky. ’The important thing is that these wings consume my stamina instead of Aether Energy. With Immortal Blood Heart, my stamina is simply off the charts, so I can easily fly for hours without getting tired.’
William was really enjoying flying again after such a long time.
In the original timeline, he could naturally fly with his strength. But after coming back to the past, he wasn’t able to do so because of his weak strength.
He had thought he would have to wait until he became a Star Lord before he could enjoy flying again.
But the awakening of his Chaos Bloodline had brought him an unexpected surprise.
"At this rate, I should reach my destination in just six or seven hours."
William looked at the distance, his eyes narrowing.
He was currently heading toward Rosewood Town.
It was a small town with a population of about two thousand people.
The task William had accepted was related to this town.
Rosewood Town was located on the outskirts of the populated area, and as such, it was frequently harassed by some bandits and other groups of lowlifes.
However, with the town guards’ protection, it wasn’t anything too extreme.
But recently, a new group of bandits had appeared near the town.
They numbered over fifty, and most importantly, there were many Evolvers among them.
Some of them had even reached the Star Commander level, with their leader being at the peak of the Star Commander level.
This bandit group often attacked the town to loot supplies, and recently, they had even killed many people, including the town’s guard commander.
With the death of the guard commander, the entire town was thrown into panic, and the town chief had no choice but to ask for help.
Rosewood Town was similar to those villages from where Richard, the overseer who had brought William to the academy, had picked up a few children while coming to the academy.
Similar to those villages, it was also a ruler town and didn’t come under the jurisdiction of any noble territory.
As such, getting help wasn’t easy.
Although the town chief was someone who had been officially appointed by the Royal Family to oversee the town, his influence wasn’t high enough to make people from other territories come to help him.
As such, this task eventually reached the academy, allowing students to take care of it while also earning some credits for themselves.
Of course, William didn’t randomly choose this task out of nowhere.
He chose it because he knew about this task from the original timeline.
"Since this group of bandits has arrived, it means that thing has also appeared..." William’s eyes gleamed with a faint light.
"Once I eliminate these guys and secure that thing, everything that I have planned will enter a rapid development phase."
Although William wanted to let loose and test his strength after assimilating the Vampire Bloodline, he didn’t choose to test it on some random beasts or inside Rifts.
It was because they weren’t beneficial enough.
Although he had decided not to think too much about the future and live a little more freely, it didn’t mean he would waste his time on unnecessary things.
Even if he were to take a break and do something fun, he would do something meaningful, not just go to a riverside to throw stones and splash water like a child.
’I wonder if I can take down all of those bandits without manifesting the power of my trait...’
A look of anticipation couldn’t help but appear in William’s eyes as he was really curious about his current strength.
Suddenly, through his Heart Devourer ability, William sensed something, and his eyes narrowed.
Without stopping, he glanced behind him from the corner of his eyes but didn’t see anything.
Although he didn’t see anything, William’s lips couldn’t help but curl upward into a sneer.
’They really can’t wait...’ He thought inwardly but didn’t do anything and simply continued flying toward Rosewood Town.
Around six hours later, a small town came into William’s view.
The town occupied an area of about four square kilometers. It was surrounded by seven-meter-high stone walls to prevent monsters from entering.
According to the task description, William needed to go to the town to meet the town chief and discuss how to take care of the bandits, as the location of their hideout was unknown.
However, William had no plans to meet the town chief and waste his time.
Even when he came closer to the town, William didn’t stop and continued flying forward, soon leaving it behind.
A few minutes later, when he was about twenty kilometers away from Rosewood Town, William stopped before a complex mountain range.
"Black Hills..." He muttered the name of the mountain range, recalling the memories from the original timeline.
Flapping his wings, William flew high into the sky, and when he was nearly two hundred meters above the ground, he charged into the mountain range.
While flying, he activated his Eyes of Insight, and in just a few minutes, he caught the trail of auras left behind by some people.
Following the faint auras he could see through Eyes of Insight, he slowly flew for over fifteen minutes before sensing something and deactivating Eyes of Insight.
"Found it..." He muttered, and his lips curled upward slightly.
Flapping his wings, he instantly arrived above a fortified hideout built between the rising cliffs.
There were defensive walls, archer towers, and many traps set up around the hideout, with some people standing around to keep watch.
The instant William arrived above the hideout, he immediately caught everyone’s attention.
"That... Is that a monster?" A bandit holding a bow asked with a stunned look as he stared at the being with two black wings on his back.
But his partner didn’t answer, as his face was already pale.
"Sound the alarm, you moron. It’s not a monster, but a human."
The instant the man spoke, he tried to ring the gong beside him to alert everyone.
But suddenly, his body stiffened, and to his horror, he found that no matter what he tried to do, he couldn’t move.
"Your friend was actually right..." A faint voice filled with extreme coldness reached his ears. "I am indeed a monster."
The man’s head moved on its own, and he saw that his partner was in the same state as him.
Raising their heads, their eyes met with the glowing red eyes of the person hovering above them.
For a moment, a sense of deep fear rose from the depths of their hearts.
But the next second, they saw the man clench his fist, and—
Bang! Bang!
The blood in their heads went out of control, and their heads exploded like watermelons.
"Let’s begin."
William looked deep into the hideout as a bloody aura erupted from his body, and his black hair slowly turned platinum-white.
At the same time, all the bandits within the hideout suddenly felt a heart-palpitating, bloody aura spreading throughout the area, making them feel a chill deep within their souls.
