Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1665: Stop Being So Stubborn
Thomas didn’t make a fuss. He got into his own car with Alice, but he didn’t leave right away. He waited until the Shaw Family, the four of them, got in their car and drove off, then pulled out and followed.
“Benjamin! You need to let go.”
Alexander sat in his own car with Benjamin. Today he’d driven over himself; he hadn’t brought the driver.
When they were getting in, Isla wanted to sit with the two of them, but he turned her down and told her to go ride in Charlotte’s car.
He’d arranged it that way on purpose, just wanting to have a heart-to-heart with his son who’d just recovered. With his wife there, father and son would never really talk.
When Benjamin saw his dad refuse to let his mom get in the car just now, he figured out what his dad was up to. His dad wanted to talk to him, and as for what he wanted to talk about, Benjamin already had a good guess.
The moment his dad opened his mouth, Benjamin was one hundred percent sure his guess was right.
“Why do I have to let go? Do you also think I’m not good enough?” Benjamin looked at Alexander, who was driving. He was questioning him, but there was nothing accusatory in his tone.
Hearing that, Alexander instinctively turned his head and glanced at Benjamin in the passenger seat. “This isn’t about good enough or not. It’s about love or not. You can see it yourself—Alice loves Thomas, not you.”
To make sure his son gave up completely, he spoke not only directly, but bluntly.
Benjamin didn’t want to admit it, but he knew his dad was stating facts. He’d seen this clearly a long time ago; he’d just refused to believe it.
“Son, there are plenty of good girls in this world. You just…”
“But all those good girls aren’t Alice Turner.”
Alexander wanted to tell him to shift his focus away from Alice and pay attention to other girls instead, but he’d barely gotten half the sentence out before Benjamin cut him off.
At those words, a flare of anger shot through Alexander’s chest. “But Alice Turner only loves Thomas Fisher. She doesn’t love you, Benjamin Shaw.”
His son’s stubbornness made him both angry and anxious. With his heart full of both, his tone stopped sounding so gentle.
“She loves Thomas now. That doesn’t mean she won’t love me someday.” Benjamin seemed oblivious to Alexander’s worsening mood, still clinging to his obsession, talking to himself.
Alexander had already been angry; hearing Benjamin say that made him even angrier, but he forced himself to hold back and not explode.
He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself as quickly as possible. Once he’d steadied himself, he spoke again. “Son, stop being so obsessed. Alice isn’t the kind of girl who changes her mind easily. You know that better than I do.”
“Not changing easily doesn’t mean she’ll never change. I’m going to keep waiting—wait until the day she changes her mind.” Benjamin said this very calmly, so for a moment Alexander couldn’t tell if he was serious or just talking.
“Do you really mean that?”
After asking, Alexander held his breath and listened carefully for Benjamin’s answer, afraid he might miss something.
Benjamin looked at his father and answered with a question of his own. “If I say I’m serious, what will you do?”
“Your mom and I are already pushing seventy. If you want our old age to be nice and ‘exciting,’ then by all means, keep on with this nonsense.” Alexander didn’t answer Benjamin’s question directly, but his words made his stance very clear.
