Benjamin Shaw didn’t expect Alexander Shaw to respond to him in this way, leaving him momentarily at a loss for what to say. He let out a deep sigh and turned to look out the car window.

He quietly watched the street scene flashing by outside the window, unable to find peace within his heart for a long time.

Previously, he had neglected, neglected his parents’ feelings, neglected the fact they were slowly aging.

In his heart, he always felt his parents were still young, but hearing his father suddenly speak those words today made him realize at once that his parents were indeed no longer young.

They are now already sixty years old, rapidly approaching their seventies.

Suddenly, Benjamin felt like somewhat of a jerk; all these years, he hadn’t truly understood his parents’ hearts, he had always acted recklessly without ever considering their feelings.

“Dad! I’m sorry for making you and Mom worry over the years.” Benjamin composed himself, turned back to look at Alexander Shaw driving the car, his face full of guilt and remorse.

Alexander Shaw’s grip on the steering wheel stiffened for a moment, but his expression remained calm without any change, “As long as you can truly understand your mother and my heart, then your mother and I can feel at ease.”

His son hadn’t disappointed him, still the son he could be proud and gratified about.

“Dad! Rest assured, I will never again let you and Mom worry about me.” Benjamin already knew what to do; in fact, he had figured it out a long time ago; he just kept it inside without telling anyone.

Glancing at Benjamin, Alexander Shaw said no more, focused again on driving; this time he was truly concentrating on driving, undistracted by other thoughts.

The situation between the father and son was unknown to the mother and daughter in the back of the car.

“Your dad is really something; why make Alice leave? It’s one thing to let Alice leave, but he actually let Thomas leave with Alice too. Did he ever think about Benjamin?” Recalling the situation when leaving the hospital, Isla Lane was inwardly fuming, unable to comprehend why Alexander Shaw did such a thing.

Charlotte Shaw, driving, heard her mother’s complaints and instinctively glanced at her. Her mother didn’t understand, but she did.

“Mom! Should we try to let Benjamin go?” Dad had already seen it, she didn’t believe her brother would miss it.

“Let go of what? Benjamin injured his kidney for Alice, and you say let go just like that.” Isla Lane glared at Charlotte Shaw in dissatisfaction, seemingly trying to glare back the words she just said.

Charlotte Shaw glanced at her mother, choosing not to further provoke her, quietly driving her car, unwilling to speak freely and upset her mother again.

If her mom was upset, she would be upset too; no, even more upset.

Isla Lane didn’t seem willing to let Charlotte Shaw have her way. Seeing Charlotte Shaw ignoring her, her dissatisfaction grew further, “Why aren’t you talking? Do you think what I say is unpleasant to hear? Let me tell you, Alice should be Benjamin’s wife; five years ago, she was, and five years later, she still will be.”

Her tone was so assertive, as if she were the one deciding the matter.

Hearing this, Charlotte Shaw wanted to ask her mother if Alice agreed.

But she only dared to think this; she didn’t dare speak it aloud, for fear her mother might fly into a rage.
