Chapter 1655: Then Can I Hug You At Least?

  • Next Chapter

You don’t stink! But you’re my stinky man!

That sentence from Alice Turner delighted Thomas Fisher to an extreme degree, and he excitedly pulled her into his arms.

Just as he was about to kiss her in his excitement, she raised a hand to stop him. "This is a public place. Don’t start anything with me here, or you’re not sleeping in the bedroom tonight when we get home."

The threat in Alice’s words was very strong. Thomas instantly calmed down. Once he’d cooled off, he straightened up a little, but he still didn’t let go of her.

"Then at least let me hold you, okay?"

Even if he couldn’t kiss her, he could hug her, right? He really wanted to stick to her.

Alice didn’t answer; instead she countered with a question. "And what if I say no?"

"...Fine, I’ll hug you tonight instead."

From the laughter in Alice’s eyes, Thomas saw a bit of a clue. To avoid being locked out of the bedroom, he obediently withdrew the arm that was around her waist.

Once the arm around her waist loosened, Alice dragged her chair over to the side a little and peacefully waited for the waiter to bring their food.

After waiting a short while, the waiter brought the dishes to the table. "Please enjoy your meal, you two!"

After all the dishes were served, the waiter tactfully left, giving the space back to the two of them.

Seeing the whole table covered with things she liked to eat, it would be a lie to say Alice wasn’t touched. But she didn’t get all sentimental about it. She picked up her chopsticks and started digging into the dishes with gusto.

"The food here tastes so good."

She used her actions to tell the man beside her that she loved the flavor of these dishes, that she was very satisfied with his arrangements and very happy.

Seeing the woman eating so happily, Thomas’s lips curved in a joyful arc. He picked up his chopsticks and put some food into her bowl. "If it’s good, eat more."

"You eat too."

Finding that her bowl suddenly had a lot more food in it, Alice followed that hand with a tilt of her head and looked over. Thomas’s handsome, smiling face instantly filled her vision.

He was already blessed with a face as bright and sunny as the sun. Now that it was lit up with a smile, he looked even more dazzling and warm.

Alice was completely drawn in by the smiling face in front of her. It was like she’d been put under a spell—she froze for a moment.

Her chopsticks were still stuck in her mouth; she actually forgot to take them out.

Thomas hadn’t expected that one little smile while he was putting food in his wife’s bowl would end up mesmerizing her. That really was an unexpected pleasant surprise.

"Honey, do I look even tastier than those dishes?" He leaned over, turning toward his wife so she could see him even more clearly.

"Ahem..."

Hearing the man beside her speak snapped Alice back to her senses, and the sudden return to reality made her choke on her own saliva.

Seeing this, Thomas didn’t bother keeping up any cool fa?ade. He immediately reached out to pat her back, helping her catch her breath as she coughed.

"Drink some water to settle it."

With his other hand, he picked up his own glass of water and lifted it right to her lips.

"You’d better sit opposite me. That way I can actually focus on eating." Alice neither drank the water nor let him keep patting her back. She reached out and pushed him, signaling him to go sit back across from her.

She was only thinking about shooing the man away from her side, but she didn’t realize this whole incident wasn’t his fault at all. It all happened because she’d gone all starry-eyed over him.

Thomas didn’t argue, and he certainly didn’t refuse. He very cooperatively stood up and sat back in his original seat.

So she could concentrate on eating, he stopped smiling at her.
