Chapter 1656: Your Husband Isn’t a Pig

  • Next Chapter

In the evening, Alice Turner and Thomas Fisher returned to the Fisher Family’s villa. Autumn York instructed the household staff to prepare a very sumptuous dinner, as the new daughter-in-law was formally visiting for the first time, so she couldn’t make it too shabby.

Looking at the table full of delicious dishes, Alice Turner was deeply moved. She wasn’t a foodie; it wasn’t because she was excited about the food, but because she felt Autumn York’s heartfelt intention.

"Mom! Thank you for such a warm welcome. I’m really touched."

Alice Turner walked up to Autumn York, and regardless of whether the other would be displeased, she opened her arms and directly hugged her mother-in-law.

The person who just hugged her affectionately, Autumn York, however, showed a face of disdain. "Who’s warmly welcoming you? I made all these dishes to welcome my son home. My son has been wandering outside for many days, and now that he’s back, of course, I have to make some good food to welcome him."

That’s the truth, but in her heart, she also welcomed Alice Turner, just that she was reluctant to admit it.

"Honey! Turns out you’re a foodie, huh?"

Alice Turner completely ignored Autumn York’s disdainful expression, tilted her head to look at Thomas Fisher standing aside. Her face was consistently adorned with a cheerful smile, as if nothing could upset her.

Thomas Fisher was initially worried that Alice Turner would be upset by Autumn York’s words, but seeing her dazzling smile, he felt relieved.

"What Mom said just now is teasing you. How could just one person eat so much? I’m your husband, not a pig." Thomas Fisher had been Autumn York’s son for over thirty years; he knew very well what his mom was truly like.

Just now, Alice Turner noticed Autumn York’s duplicity because she verbally expressed disdain but didn’t push her away, not even making a slight attempt.

She previously refrained from directly exposing the truth, merely intending not to embarrass her mother-in-law.

"From now on, Mom and I will treat you like a pig." She playfully joked with her husband but failed to notice her mother-in-law glaring at her.

"You silly girl, how can you treat my son like a pig?" Autumn York lightly tapped Alice Turner’s arm. She did it very gently without exerting force, but her words were quite fierce, "If you dare speak nonsense again, I’ll sew your mouth shut with a needle."

After saying that, she even made a stitching gesture.

Alice Turner wasn’t intimidated at all, still smiling heartily, "Mom! You won’t do that."

When she was slapped, it was so gentle, let alone a needle to sew the mouth. Her mother-in-law obviously didn’t have that level of violence.

"You try and see."

"Try and see!"

Autumn York threatened Alice Turner with words, but it didn’t have much effect. She wasn’t scared at all; instead, she managed to rile the other.

While the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were bantering lightheartedly, Cedric Fisher returned from work. In the courtyard, he had seen Thomas Fisher’s car but hadn’t expected Alice Turner to come back with Thomas.

Seeing his son and daughter-in-law return home together, Cedric Fisher was exceptionally happy, especially as he noticed Alice Turner hugging Autumn York, with the table laden with delicious dishes. His heart was filled with even greater joy.

"Thomas! Have a drink with Dad."

A delighted Mr. Mayor invited his son to drink together.

Without a second thought, Thomas Fisher immediately nodded in agreement, "Sure, I’ll go get the wine."

Dad’s happy, he’s even happier.

In such a jubilant atmosphere, a bit of wine to enhance the mood was indispensable.
