Chapter 1539: It’s Not What You Think

  • Next Chapter

Alice Turner knew what Thomas Fisher was capable of, but she didn’t take his words to heart, because even if he was willing, his mom definitely wouldn’t agree.

She was one thousand percent certain about this—if he dared to do that, his mom would dare to kick him out of the house.

"I’m not in the mood to joke about this with you right now. Do you have any..." Suddenly, Alice seemed to think of something, her eyes darting, "Thomas! Your apartment should be unoccupied, right? Could Jacob stay there for a few days?"

Upon hearing Alice mention the apartment, Thomas immediately thought of his place at Huating, since she had only ever visited that particular apartment.

"No way!"

Thomas didn’t hesitate to refuse; that apartment witnessed the first time they lived under the same roof, and he didn’t want an outsider to ruin his beautiful memories.

"Why not?"

Alice’s expression fell, but she wasn’t angry or upset; she was just filled with doubt.

He was not the type to be petty; there must be a reason for his decision.

Thomas looked down at the woman in front of him. She seemed puzzled, showing no signs of anger or displeasure, which made him smile with relief, "Because that’s where we first lived together, and I don’t want others to spoil its beauty."

There was beauty there, and there was melancholy, but those memories belonged only to the two of them.

"What? You two lived together five years ago? You..."

"Don’t overthink it; it’s not what you imagine."

Anthony was quite relaxed, still interested in matters other than his current predicament, but his curiosity was quickly squashed when Alice slapped him.

The slapped guy still cheekily looked at his sister Alice, "Not what I imagine? Do you know what I’m imagining?"

He slightly curled his mouth, his eyes filled with a lecherous grin.

"Put away that sleazy grin; it’s disgusting." Alice raised her hand again and slapped Anthony, rolling her eyes at him. She was almost worried sick, yet he was so indifferent.

Thomas also glared at Anthony without much amusement, lips pursed, "Exactly, it’s disgusting."

"You two... Humph!"

Anthony snorted indignantly at them, stiffened his neck, and ignored the two who provoked him.

Seeing his reaction, Alice wasn’t angry at all; instead, her lips curled slightly upward.

For him to be so unbothered in this situation, his heart was truly big.

Perhaps it was because he had dealt with such situations for years, strengthening his heart’s resilience bit by bit, growing his courage, and definitely boosting his ability to contend with others.

"You can’t go there, but surely you have other properties?" Thomas’s reason for refusing was quite odd, but Alice rather liked it.

He definitely owned more than just that one property, so if that place was off-limits, other places should be accessible.

If he refused her again, she’d really fall out with him.

"Of course you can."

This time, Thomas agreed quite readily, "I’ll take him over right now."

As soon as he finished speaking, he stood up.

"Don’t be in such a rush, wait a moment."

Alice reached out to pull him back onto the sofa, then moved a little closer to Anthony, whispered in his ear for a while, and finally turned back to Thomas, "Take him over in half an hour."
