Chapter 827: Mind Manipulation
Chapter 827: Mind Manipulation
Kent stood in front of his cultivation cave, a smile on his face.
All the houses in the sect are caves designed and empowered using formations. This allows one to cultivate much faster, since the abundance of spiritual energy in the cave is a result of the formation built within it.
Of course, the formation isn’t always active, as it requires Spirit Crystals to power it. However, Kent, like any new disciple, was given only one Spirit Crystal, which lasted him for just a day.
He went to buy some, but he found out that one Spirit Crystal is equivalent to 100 Supreme Points, and at that moment, he had only 100 Supreme Points given to him by the sect.
However, Kent didn’t hesitate to buy the crystal, for while many wouldn’t benefit much from the abundance of spiritual qi in the cave due to their weak cultivation techniques, Kent’s cultivation technique was unique.
With just one spirit crystal, he made significant progress.
Of course, thanks to his time with Princess Lovina, he was able to rise to Level 4 Core Formation, but he knew it would require him at least ten spirit crystals, that is, a thousand supreme points, to make progress next time.
The reason he was smiling, however, was due to two things.
The first being the feeling of actually living the disciple life now. He planned to live such a life in the Divine Palace sect, but that didn’t happen.
Of course, he knew it was because of his wives around.
He couldn’t keep his hands away from them, so his time there was wasted in a way. Now, however, he was alone, and that made him finally get into the life of a disciple, and so far, he was loving it.
The second reason, of course, was the upgrades done to his skills. He used the skill upgrade points to upgrade some of them.
He had held the skill upgrade points for long, and so finally, he found a good use for them.
One of the skills he received after adding Princess Lovina to the harem was [Mind Prison].
Initially, it was a Mythic-grade skill that allowed him to imprison someone’s mind and look through their memories.
Kent didn’t need that since Soul Absorb allows him to do that. The only difference was that with Mind Prison, he can read their thoughts while they are still alive.
It was a good one, but Kent wasn’t satisfied with just that aspect of it, so he upgraded it to Divine grade, and that’s when it changed to [Mind Manipulation].
This time, instead of just reading the mind, Kent can manipulate those with weaker minds to do his bidding.
It is similar to [Soul Torture], but instead of killing the person within 10 minutes, this one keeps them alive while manipulating them.
He can even attack their minds, and to some extent, depending on how weak the opponent’s mind is, he can plant false memories in there.
Kent didn’t know how much stronger his mind had become after breaking the Mind Limit, so he wanted to test it in the competition.
While thinking, Kent sensed the presence of Elder Mikko long before she arrived. When she saw him standing, gazing into the rising sun, she sighed.
“You don’t have to worry too much. Even if you couldn’t win all matches, winning just 20 will get you into the Inner Sect and set you up for more advanced resources and rewarding missions.”
“Huh.”
Kent was taken aback. ’She thought I was second-guessing myself.’ Kent smiled but didn’t correct her.
“I will do my best to win at least 20 duels, Elder Mikko.” Instead, Kent made her feel like her deduction of his character was spot on.
“By the way, why are you here, Elder Mikko?”
“I am here to pick you up. Lady Enzi wants to have a few words with you before the competition starts.”
Kent nodded and started following Elder Mikko to the location, where he could already hear cheers coming from. Everyone was pumped for the battle they’d waited 14 days for.
“This place is beautiful,” Kent said, gazing at the rainbow that appeared in the clouds as the sun rose from the horizon.
The picturesque look that appeared was one Kent couldn’t deny was something he would love to wake up every day staring at.
Elder Mikko smiled but didn’t say a word.
Kent wasn’t the first person to say that and wouldn’t be the last.
Soon, they appeared at the arena, which had been built with meticulous attention to detail. It has a turtle-shaped design and is large by all standards.
Every last disciple was already seated, with a few spaces that could take a couple of hundred more.
“This is the grand Turtle Arena. It was built in honor of a disciple who once led this sect to victory in the interplanetary sect competition.
He ascended ten thousand years ago, and if all things are well with him in the place where he ascended to, he without a doubt has become a powerful cultivator by now.”
The pride in her tone was one Kent noticed, and he knew this Turtle guy must have made the sect proud. Even after ten thousand years, they still held him in their hearts.
’Good for Mr. Turtle, I guess,’ Kent said in his head before entering the door that doesn’t lead to the main stage where the duel will happen; instead, it led to a hallway.
They moved for a few minutes, not rushing when they could make the distance within seconds. Eventually, they arrived in front of a portal door.
“Lady Enzi is waiting for you,” Elder Mikko said, gesturing toward the door. Kent nodded and walked through.
He expected to appear in a room with chairs and tables. However, he found himself in a glass room. Every part of the room was made of glass, and at its center sat Lady Enzi.
’This is strange, why the fascination for glass?’
Kent wondered why someone would surround herself with glass. In some way, he understood that she had an affinity for the glass element.
But even so, it can be a bit creepy staring at one’s reflection all day.
Kent spent most of the last few days pondering various things. He asked the tower a lot of questions, one being the glass element Lady Enzi has affinity for.
Vexthra, who later joined in on the topic, advised Kent that if possible, he must never find himself on Lady Enzi’s bad side, for the moment he gets trapped in her mirror, that will be the end for him.
She said that in all her life as a goddess, she had only met one person who had glass elemental affinity, and that person had long since become a celestial being.
She didn’t delve much deeper into it, but she made Kent aware that he might have either found someone who could greatly help him or cause him harm.
Now, he was about to face her, and he could only hope the conversation went well.
“Sit down,” Lady Enzi said, and Kent sat down, facing her.
She studied him for a few moments and then spoke again, “Ask the question that pops into your mind when I snap my fingers.”
*SNAP*
“Why haven’t you ascended yet?” Kent asked, not waiting for a second to pass.
