Chapter 826: The Selection [Bonus]
Chapter 826: The Selection [Bonus]
When word spread of the duel, every disciple, regardless of what they were doing, abandoned everything and rushed to the outer section where the selection would be happening.
It took just an hour, but the queue extended several miles. Every last disciple in the inner and outer sections of the sect wants to participate.
Of course, knowing one doesn’t have to defeat Kent but merely has to hold on till five seconds run out was the reason all of them wanted to join the competition.
Of course, even if there was no such stake to the duel, they would still want to participate, for they wouldn’t let a chance to earn a million Supreme Points go to waste.
So they came and they joined the line.
—
It’s already been three days since Kent and his pals arrived in the sect, and so far, they’ve managed to learn quite a lot about the sect.
They explored at least the outer section, and from what they saw, they were impressed. It is the most comfortable place to cultivate.
There are formations everywhere, each designed to make cultivation not only faster but also more comfortable.
The most basic thing there are the training grounds. Aside from the normal training grounds, there are also ones for Lightning elements, Fire elements, Water, and many more.
There are also places where significant events happen. The sect doesn’t have something like going to a classroom to listen to lectures. They have none of that; instead, they have several places where one can go to learn.
Kent and his pals saw at least 20 of said places. One can go to see an elder concocting pills or an elder practicing the sword.
Kent noticed that many people frequented these places, and after spending a few hours there, he understood why.
There are formations present that enhance whatever was happening, allowing the disciples to gain a much deeper understanding of it.
Many who seek to gain enlightenment come there to watch, and he knew he would frequent those places too when he was done handling his business.
Aside from that, they explored the Supreme Market, where disciples who have items to sell or wish to buy go to conduct their transactions.
Aside from that, there are also the official stores of the sect where even more treasures are sold.
Of course, spirit stones don’t work there, and while Kent would love to use the tower to top up his own account, he refrains from doing that, for he wants to work for his keep.
In all, they are impressed with what they saw. However, they knew there was more to be had in the inner sect if the outer sect was already this impressive.
This means they all want to try their best and become one of the 100 disciples who will face Kent. In fact, most had already joined. The only ones left to join the queue were the 11 that made it to the 5th level of the Flame Tower.
Over the past three days, Kent helped them to the best of his ability, or more accurately, within their capabilities. He has more treasures, but they can’t handle it yet.
“You all have come a long way, so I have no doubt you will be making it into that 100 selected disciples. Of course, defeating me is not something you can do, so try to become one of the selected disciples so you can make it into the Inner sect.
All three geniuses have already entered the top ten spot, but you 11 are already impressive, so don’t give them a chance to outshine you.”
They nodded and left to join the queue.
When they arrived, the queue was still long, and judging by their position, it would take them a few days to get a chance, but that was alright because they knew their turn would come eventually.
Nine days later, their turn came.
Arion was the first to go.
The Giant Titan’s body is a colossal metal structure imbued with Tier 14 formations, designed to measure the strength, mastery, and lethality of an attack.
After capturing these three things, it will reveal the score based on numbers. Currently, on the ranking board, the first person is a swords saint from the inner sect.
His score is 98, demonstrating the strength, brilliance, and deadly accuracy of his attack.
Arion is also a swordsman, so he retrieved his sword, and when he was 5 meters from the giant titan’s body, his flame surged, engulfing his sword.
“Wow, that is one fierce soul flame,” a disciple said, watching Arion closely.
Of course, Arion didn’t stop there. The flame moved across his arm and then enveloped his entire body.
Eyes widened and jaws dropped, but Arion wasn’t done.
He raised his sword and pointed it up, then activated his skill.
“Flame Lord’s Hand.” He added his other hand and held the sword firmly, and then, with a powerful swing, Arion unleashed a flame hand, one that filled the space with scorching hot flame.
BANG
It slammed into the metal statue, creating a powerful shockwave. Arion was pushed back, but Princess Elowen was there to support him.
When everything calmed down, they turned and looked at the ranking board.
“9th.”
Arion smiled, walking back under the shocked gaze of many who saw his attack and felt the shockwave.
“That is no simple skill.”
Murmurs began to spread.
However, they quieted down when Princess Elowen moved, her bow drawn. When she was 10 meters away from the statue, she stopped, and then, at once, the space around her froze, raising spikes made of ice.
However, those who felt the coldness sensed some burning sensation in it, making them wonder what was happening.
“That is no ordinary ice.” Of course, they all thought it was ice; however, when the skill was unleashed, they saw its true nature.
“Flame Phoenix Ascendence.”
The arrow turned into a brilliant white flame, Phoenix, cold yet hot. When it exploded on the statue, the surface froze for a few moments.
On the ranking, she appeared at number 5, indicating that her attack had some power behind it.
Princess Freya was next to go, appearing at number 7.
Then the rest went one after the other, and by the time Norion’s turn came, everyone was left wondering just what was wrong with this year’s batch of disciples from Sonox.
All 11 of them took the top 30 spots in the ranking, showcasing their prowess. Of course, one need not be told that they had already made it on the list of 100 disciples to be selected.
By the time the selection came to an end, their positions shifted, but they remained in the top 40.
Aside from them, a few others from Sonox made it onto the list, with all seven survivalists Kent helped making the list.
Even Kent was taken aback when they came to him smiling and cheering.
“You guys really impressed me. I know you 11 can make it thanks to your superior skills, but you seven truly made me proud.
I will reward you all after kicking your butts tomorrow.”
They laughed, knowing winning was impossible. Uncle Drake had already told them to look up to Kent, for he is someone terrifyingly strong.
So had it not been for the chance to become inner disciples, none of them would have dared challenge him.
Tomorrow, they knew it would be a one-sided beatdown, but still, they looked forward to it.
