Chapter 549: Chapter 547: Being an Ordinary Person for Once

They watched the acrobats.

Celeste Grant pinched him on the arm.

"Alright, alright. Put me down." ℴℴ𝘮

He set her down.

Meanwhile, Aaron Sinclair spoke up. "Father, I want to get down, too."

"Alright."

"Father, Mother, let’s go check it out over there."

"Of course..."

Days like these passed quickly.

Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.

Aaron Sinclair had now completely accepted the fact that he had his birth parents. He had gone from tentatively testing the waters to completely letting go, and their interactions became relaxed and effortless.

It was as if they had always been together. The family of three shared a deep bond, with no trace of distance between them. He couldn’t explain this feeling, so he attributed it all to blood ties and the simple fact that his parents loved him dearly.

「That afternoon.」

Aaron Sinclair was on a ladder, snipping grapes from a trellis. He had just cut two bunches and handed them to his mother when a carrier pigeon flew in from the distance, landing on a nearby stone table.

He tilted his head to get a better look and saw his father take the pigeon, remove the attached message, and glance over it.

’What could that be?’ he wondered.

He climbed down from the ladder.

He walked over to his father’s side.

"Father, what’s happened?"

Javier Sinclair casually handed him the secret message and said, "It’s nothing. Your uncle heard we found you. He’s overjoyed and is telling us to bring you back as soon as possible."

The current Emperor was childless.

The court ministers were pressuring him so relentlessly to produce an heir that he was about to go bald from the stress. The Empress, the Noble Consort, and his various other concubines eyed him like predators every day. The Emperor himself truly couldn’t bear it any longer.

Now, learning that his own brother’s long-lost child had been found, he felt as if the dark clouds over his head had finally parted. It was a godsend, a timely rain! The Royal Family finally had a successor. At least he wouldn’t have to face his ancestors after his death and be cursed for failing his lineage.

The main issue was that the Royal Family consisted of just the two brothers.

Before this, neither brother had any children. His younger brother and sister-in-law had indeed had a child years ago, but he was lost during their travels. Every time the Emperor thought of it, he was overcome with sorrow.

Such a vast Royal Family, without a single heir. The other kingdoms surely mocked them endlessly. No one knew just how much he suffered as Emperor.

He had tried so hard, but fate had not blessed him with an heir.

Celeste Grant wasn’t surprised by the secret message delivered via the Emperor’s carrier pigeon.

When they first arrived in the Mortal Realm, Javier Sinclair had fabricated new identities, which the Heavenly Dao had been forced to recognize. It had no choice, really—absolute power is the ultimate truth. Under the enforcement of this new reality, all loopholes would mend themselves.

So, from the Emperor’s perspective, Javier Sinclair was his biological younger brother, and they had supported each other since childhood. The only quirk was that his brother had a bit of a bad temper; otherwise, he was perfect. As for outsiders, they also had memories of the two, though their knowledge was vague and superficial.

Before Celeste Grant and her family arrived, Kelldorn had been a nation in decline, on the verge of a dynastic collapse. The country would have been lost with this generation, but now that they were here, that had naturally changed.

From the moment Javier Sinclair assumed his new identity, the nation’s fortune had been on the rise. Only they could see such things, however; ordinary people remained oblivious. As for a royal successor, she had no intention of letting her son live such a burdensome life. She would make sure the Emperor had children of his own.

Celeste Grant spoke up. "We’ve been here for some time now. It’s about time we returned to Atheria. This matter with the General’s Mansion sending people to kill my son is far from over."

Javier Sinclair nodded slightly.

"Then we’ll head back."

As they spoke, they both turned their gaze to their son.

"What are your thoughts, son?"

Seeing his parents seeking his opinion, Aaron Sinclair nodded slightly. "I have no objection."

Celeste Grant said, "Good. Let’s prepare, then. We’ll head back tomorrow."

"Alright, then it’s settled."

Aaron Sinclair looked up at the sky.

’The memory of how wretched I was when I was sent away, hunted the entire way, is still vivid. Now I’m returning to that place. What kind of life awaits me this time?’

「Early the next morning.」

When Aaron Sinclair got up and walked out of his room, he saw many people standing in the courtyard.

These men were clad in armor, with swords at their sides. They radiated an aura of iron and blood, an intimidating presence that only soldiers who have fought on the battlefield possess.

"Greetings, Young Master."

Upon seeing him, the armored soldiers saluted in unison.

Aaron Sinclair took in the scene before him.

He felt no apprehension, nor was he intimidated or flustered in the slightest.

In fact, it all felt perfectly reasonable, as if he had seen such spectacles many times before. And so, as so many people saluted him, Aaron Sinclair’s expression remained calm and composed.

’Perhaps I was born into the Royal Family after all,’ he thought.

That’s why he felt nothing at the sight of so many soldiers bowing to him. Of course, the Aaron Sinclair of today didn’t know that he was once the Young Master who commanded all the Cultivators of the Demonic Sects; a scene like this would naturally not cause the slightest ripple in his heart.

He casually gestured with his hand.

"All of you, rise."

"Thank you, Young Master."

The men rose.

The General in the lead stepped forward, bowed respectfully, and said, "Young Master, the Prince and Princess Consort are already waiting for you in the carriage."

"Alright. Lead the way."

"This way, Young Master."

Aaron Sinclair followed them out of the residence.

As he walked out the main gate of the residence, he saw a carriage parked at the entrance. A wooden plaque hung from one corner of the carriage. It was the crest of the Warden’s Northern Manor.

There were soldiers escorting the carriage from the front and back, as well as guards on horseback.

"We welcome the Young Master!"

Their voices thundered.

Just then, someone inside the carriage lifted the curtain to look at him.

It was Celeste Grant.

"Son, hurry up and get in."

Seeing his mother,

A smile broke out on Aaron Sinclair’s face. He immediately jogged over, used the steps to board the carriage, and said, "Mother, you’re up so early. Why didn’t you wake me?"

Celeste Grant smiled and said, "You were sleeping so soundly, I wanted to let you sleep in." As she spoke, she pulled her son to sit beside her and took out a food box she had prepared earlier.

"Are you hungry? Have something to eat first. There are steamed buns, dumplings, and pastries. See what you’d like."

"Thank you, Mother. These are all my favorites."

Celeste Grant picked up a pastry and fed it to her son.

Her son obediently opened his mouth and ate it.

"Delicious."

"You have a bite too, Mother."

"Alright, but I want my son to feed me."

Her son smiled and personally fed a piece to his mother.

Sitting off to the side, Javier Sinclair glanced at the mother and son. He said with a straight face, "Kid, you’re already grown up, yet you still need your mother to feed you."

Aaron Sinclair chuckled.

"Father, you’re just envious and jealous. This is my mother, and I’m still just a child. Mother, I want another piece."

Celeste Grant reached out and hugged her son.

"That’s right! This is my precious son."

"Heh."

Javier Sinclair chuckled, picking up a pastry. He pulled Celeste Grant to his side and wrapped his arm around her. "Kid, this is my wife. You’re grown up now. Stop clinging to your mother."

Aaron Sinclair: "..."

’Who’s the one clinging to Mother now?’

Javier Sinclair fed the pastry in his hand to Celeste Grant, saying, "Celeste... have a piece of osmanthus crisp."

’This father-and-son pair really hasn’t changed a bit.’
