Chapter 550: Chapter 548: A Greatsword’s Cleave

"Oh, thank you." Celeste Grant smiled faintly. She picked up a pastry and brought it to Javier Sinclair’s lips. In a gentle voice, she said, "You have a piece too, darling."

Inside the carriage.

Celeste Grant was leaning against Javier Sinclair, a picture of marital bliss. Aaron Sinclair, sitting across from them, couldn’t help but rub his arms as he watched. "Ew... You guys are so cheesy."

’Is this what they call being fed dog food? No, wait... what is ’dog food’? Why did I even think of that word? Never mind, it’s not important.’

’My parents having a good relationship is better than anything else.’

Although he had only recently been reunited with his birth parents, it felt as if they had been together for a long time, with no sense of unfamiliarity. The past half-month with them had been the happiest time of his life.

"Son, have some water."

"Okay, thank you, Mother."

He looked at his parents and said, "Mother, Father, sit tight. We should get going."

Celeste Grant nodded slightly.

"Alright, let’s move out." She lifted the carriage curtain with her fingers and looked outside. "Set course for Atheria."

Just then, the voice of a soldier came from outside the carriage.

"Yes, Princess Consort."

Hearing the title "Princess Consort," Celeste Grant smiled and lowered the curtain. The address made her think of the TV dramas she used to watch and all the transmigration novels she had binged.

All those women who transmigrated would end up as an Imperial Concubine or an Empress, or they’d have a fling with a Prince and become a Princess Consort. At the very least, they could become a Young Lady. She never imagined that someone like her, who had transmigrated to the Cultivation World, would get to experience being a Princess Consort in Elyndra.

’Sure enough, when you’re out and about, your status is what you make it.’

Amidst the sound of hooves, the rumble of wheels on the road slowly began. Celeste Grant’s carriage drove out of Pyrewood, heading toward Atheria.

The journey was leisurely and unhurried, the carriage swaying gently along the road.

Celeste Grant went from sitting beside Javier Sinclair to eventually lying back in his arms. "How much longer until we get there?"

Her son, sitting opposite her, lifted the curtain on one of the windows and looked out. "Just be patient, Mother. We still have a long way to go."

Traveling by carriage was a bit bumpy. If she were still an ordinary person like in her past life, she would have already gotten carriage-sick and thrown up. As it was, she didn’t feel sick, just incredibly bored.

"I never realized carriage rides were so slow and bumpy."

She missed the feeling of flying through the sky in a carriage pulled by a Spirit Beast—so stable, without the slightest tremor.

The carriage ride might have been slow, but she found that the scenery along the way was quite nice. She decided to treat it as a scenic tour. The journey was peaceful, with no unexpected incidents.

As dusk fell, they were about to find a place to rest, light a fire, and cook a meal when they were stopped by commoners begging for help.

"Help..."

"My Lords, bandits have plundered our village! They’re slaughtering innocents, not even sparing the children!"

"We have suffered a terrible injustice! Please, my Lords, grant us justice!"

The leading general, on horseback, raised his hand, and the carriage quickly came to a halt.

Inside the carriage.

Hearing the commotion outside, Celeste Grant immediately sat up from Javier Sinclair’s arms and moved to the carriage door. She leaned one hand against the frame and lifted the curtain with the other to look out.

"What’s going on?"

’Didn’t I just hear something about bandits plundering a village? It seems no matter where you go, there are always some wicked, audacious people.’

The leading general, holding the reins in one hand, turned his head slightly to reply. "Reporting to the Princess Consort, some commoners have stopped the carriage."

Celeste Grant gestured with her hand, signaling for the people to be brought over.

He acknowledged the order.

"Yes, Princess Consort."

A moment later, several villagers—old, weak, sick, and disabled—were brought forward. Seeing the noble person inside the carriage, they dared not be presumptuous and knelt down, trembling.

"We beg you, noble one, to grant us justice."

Celeste Grant’s gaze swept over them as she spoke. "Tell me what happened." It was a casual question, but as her eyes passed over them, she had already seen what had befallen these people.

They were indeed telling the truth.

Images of arson, murder, and plunder flashed before her eyes, along with the faces of bandits laughing wildly.

"Kill the men, take the women."

"Take all the food and money!"

She saw scenes of weeping and miserable cries.

And images of those who resisted being cut down.

Though she had long grown accustomed to life and death in the Cultivation World, seeing so many innocent people die horribly while the wicked roamed free ignited a fire of anger within her.

The elderly man kowtowed toward her carriage and began to speak. "We are villagers from Eldermere. A few days ago, a band of bandits came to our village. They broke in, burning, killing, and plundering everything. We only survived because we fought for our lives. Now, the survivors—families with children, the wounded, and the sick—can only hide in the mountains, homeless."

As the old man finished speaking, tears streamed down his face, his expression a mask of grief and despair.

"Please, noble one, grant us justice."

"Please, my Lords, grant us justice."

"We’ve been hiding in the mountains these past few days, too afraid to come out. We feared the bandits would return to silence us for good. We waited until now to try and report this to the authorities. We were originally heading to the nearest county town, but when we saw your soldiers on the road, we came to beg for help immediately."

Celeste Grant raised her hand.

"All of you, stand up. As long as what you’ve said is true, I will see to it that you get justice."

Their faces lit up with joy and immense gratitude.

"Thank you, noble one! Thank you!"

"Thank you, my Lords!"

Celeste Grant called out.

"Someone!"

A soldier on horseback responded.

"Your orders, Princess Consort?"

When the villagers who were about to stand up heard the soldiers address the woman in the carriage as "Princess Consort," they immediately dropped to their knees again. They were terrified. They had actually stopped the Princess Consort’s carriage—an act of great disrespect.

They kept their heads bowed, their foreheads beaded with sweat. Even with their limited knowledge, they knew that a Princess Consort was a Prince’s wife.

"This commoner greets the Princess Consort."

"This commoner has offended the Princess Consort. I beg for your forgiveness."

Celeste Grant glanced at them.

"All of you, rise."

"General Cheney, send two men with them to register at the Magistracy. Make proper arrangements for the villagers who have suffered because of these bandits. Distribute money and grain as needed. The rest of you, follow me to eliminate the bandits. On the Demonic Sects’ territory... ahem, that such a soulless thing could exist within the borders of Kelldorn is unacceptable. They must not be allowed to remain."

It had been a slip of the tongue; she had almost said ’on the Demonic Sects’ territory’.

With Celeste Grant’s order, they went straight to eliminate the bandits.

As for a battle plan?

There was no need for one.

It was completely unnecessary and useless.

In the face of absolute power, who needed such things?

That very night, Celeste Grant took a great saber and charged into the bandits’ lair. The lair was built on a treacherous cliff, accessible by only a single path. For ordinary soldiers, raiding it would have been no easy task.

At night, the bandits’ lair was a lively place.
