Chapter 1354: Chapter 436: Ura! Twist Right Neck!

Back in the car, Family Joy reconnected to the command center in Cyberspace. The Wildman and his team arrived one after another upon hearing the news.

Family Joy walked to the holographic map and said,

"The lost position has been regained, but the infiltrating enemy special forces team has not been caught. Notify the troops along the line to stay alert and dispatch more reconnaissance drones for patrol."

"The enemy’s military operation this time has a clear purpose. It’s obvious they have identified our troop transfer along this route. I suspect they have a larger deployment behind this."

He tapped the table, and the holographic map changed with his gesture, shifting the focus to the area around Baladero and the Florida Strait.

"I also have this suspicion."

Wildman looked at the map, arms crossed,

"After the early skirmish, their fleet has vanished, only releasing fighter jets for combat. The fact that they didn’t send jets for airstrikes indicates their loss is also significant, and they can’t muster forces quickly. It’s hard to justify the fleet not engaging."

"If Clint wasn’t lying, the breach of his unit’s defenses was caused by several Soviet Petrochemical elite special forces teams, numbering around thirty. This number can at most cause chaos, but it’s impossible to pose a significant threat to larger troops."

"If I were Morrison..."

Wildman pointed to Baladero Port,

"I would certainly launch a multi-unit joint operation during the troop boarding transfer, allowing special forces to raid and cause chaos, followed by electronic warfare interference, then air force attacks, fleet heavy assault to finish, with the army surrounding from behind, maximizing our losses. Maybe they want to annihilate these two or three thousand people right here."

"Not enough."

Family Joy first nodded, then shook his head,

"Our army’s fighting will and combat strength are very strong. They’ve suffered numerous losses before, so they wouldn’t rely on those Cuban army troops for any direct role. Even adding the Europeans would only be a fifty-fifty fight. Therefore, they will certainly adopt more intense means, striking swiftly before Military Science and Huang Ban can react."

The Europeans over there must have noticed the discrepancy in soldier numbers; no matter how many they kill, it’s never-ending, so it’s pure folly to stall with players here.

Once out, it’s a killer move.

So Family Joy determines Morrison will surely unleash a heavy punch here.

Wildman seems to have realized something,

"You mean..."

"Prepare the troops for the worst scenario, and also deploy the new Predator Air Combat System and modules, just in case."

To ensure the route’s concealment to avoid detection easily, the transfer route was selected in hilly terrain. The slopes rise and fall continuously, the route twists and turns, and bushes and shrubs are rampant, making it possible not to see anything for hundreds of meters.

Even the ground underfoot is covered tightly with fallen leaves; without stepping on it, you wouldn’t know whether it’s land or a sea of leaves beneath.

Some dead leaves could even bury a person alive, making it hard to climb out.

But these natural coverings ultimately couldn’t block the high-resolution satellite suspended in the sky.

Snap

A sudden sound of breaking branches echoed from the empty bushes.

Listening closely, footsteps could be heard rustling, and leaves shook unnaturally, as if brushing against something invisible.

However, compared to the artillery echoes in the valley, it was insignificant.

The squad led by Kovoski pressed forward towards the satellite-marked direction after breaching the defense line.

With their stealth modules activated, unless directly illuminated, it’s difficult to detect them with cybernetic eyes, even infrared probes and thermal vision are nearly ineffective.

The squad members cautiously advanced towards Baladero, ready to coordinate with other teams for a joint assault as per the operation plan.

Leading in front, Kovoski suddenly stopped, his lifted foot paused mid-air for several seconds, then raised his hand to signal a halt.

The entire squad seemed to freeze as if hitting a pause button.

Kovoski gently lowered his foot and shifted backward.

There, where he just raised his foot, lay a barely discernible thin thread hidden among the fallen branches and leaves, ready to snap at the slightest force.

Booby trap

Kovoski activated the scanning function in his cybernetic eyes, quickly surveying the surroundings while asking scout Varif over the team channel,

[Does the drone have any response?]

Suspended several hundred meters above them was a stealth drone conducting reconnaissance.

[Varif: No response for now, no suspicious targets scanned]

Though Varif said this, Kovoski still felt being watched. However, the optical stealth module being in operation prevented the adversary from exposing themselves prematurely.

His instincts were sharp.

Clint, despite not notifying the central command about the breach, kept a vigilant eye and informed Mann in advance about an infiltrating unit, preparing for defense.

Infrared, cybernetic eyes, thermal vision, drones—these technological tools are powerful but not omnipotent.

At least they couldn’t scan a person buried in a pile of leaves and mud, motionless for half an hour.

David once asked Mann a question,

What was it like when you fought in Latin America before?

Mann replied,

"It was a nightmare."

Many of those big-headed soldiers conscripted from the grassroots by New America were likely there just to earn a living or salary, or for that seemingly substantial pension in their contract.

But ask which soldier hasn’t dreamt of serving the motherland and fighting the enemy when joining the army?
