Chapter 1355: Chapter 436: Ura! Twist Your Neck Right! (2)

Even Mann never had such dreams.

So even though the bullying within the army was severe, the cafeteria provided pitifully little food, and their wages were endlessly delayed, they endured.

Until they participated in the Latin American war, they completely fell into a nightmare.

"We harbored ideals of becoming heroes when stepping onto foreign soil, only to have officers and veterans tell us to aim our guns at unarmed civilians and fire, claiming they might be potential terrorists."

"We used flame throwers to burn down every village, kill every person we saw, committing rape and pillage... A Christian comrade of mine couldn’t bear these things and shot himself. Perhaps in those dead people’s eyes, we were the terrorists."

"The European Community later exposed these matters in the media; when we returned home, everyone called us butchers. Promised compensation for fallen comrades was denied by the government, and our pay wasn’t even enough to maintain our exoskeletons. We fell into addiction to drugs and gambling and couldn’t even find a job as a dishwasher after retiring. Every community rejected us, and the police stopped us to question us when we walked on the streets..."

"I became a mercenary just to survive, but then they wanted to drag me into some unifying war, selling me the American dream. David, never trust what those politicians say, never ever..."

Mann’s finger on the trigger was trembling slightly, he had already prepared for the worst when he chose to join the Dragon Field army.

But there was no way around it; his exoskeleton required money, and the squad members needed income; otherwise, those bank-debt collectors could show them the iron fist of Capitalism.

Back in the day, how many of those vagrant dead from drug overdoses or cyber-psychosis were Mann’s [mercenary predecessors"], simply because stepping back was equivalent to dying without a burial spot.

Seeing their tragedies, Mann dared not take a step back, knowing that his cyber-psychosis was getting worse, yet he continued adding more combat exoskeletons.

But, when Mann found his muzzle was aiming not at civilians but at those drug dealers instead.

They were more than just rescuers; after rescuing people, they educated civilians, provided jobs, cultivated underground industries, and agricultural zones, ensuring everyone received enough food.

No shortages of supplies, no internal bullying, no funds embezzlement.

Every fallen Dragon Field soldier’s body was collected and brought back home for burial, interred as a hero with compensation awarded, and the deceased’s family was suitably cared for and privileged, with no concerns.

The Horizon Corporation was creating an ideal future that only existed in dreams.

And Mann, discovering himself already on this path, was willing to sacrifice his life for this ideal world.

Bang!

A bullet shot out, speeding towards an empty space, even the surrounding fallen leaves were swept up by the wild wind.

But Mann was one hundred percent certain there was someone there.

The Optical Invisibility Exoskeleton was rare, but he was after all a retired New America special forces soldier, he may not have eaten pork, but he had seen pigs run.

Kovoski reacted even quicker, as soon as the flash of light caught his peripheral vision, he initiated a retreat step in Sianweistan to dodge.

Snap

A slight sound of a thin line snapping echoed.

Another hidden land mine buried in the heap of fallen leaves was detonated.

The explosion flared beside him, and with a boom, it sent Kovoski staggering; if not for the extraordinary defensive power of the Power Armor, at least a leg would’ve been snapped.

Yet even so, it blew Kovoski out of the invisibility module, and in panic, he shouted in the channel.

[Enemy attack!]

[Drone mark and track the target, gunner strike to eliminate him, be cautious of other enemies]

The other undiscovered squad members immediately split into pairs spreading out from both sides.

And the already exposed Kovoski became the focus target of the Dragon Field soldiers ambushed here.

In a short while, several fire points hidden in the leaves sea burst into life, aiming at him with mad fury.

Compared to the freshly arrived Soviets, the command center that had scanned most of Cuba’s map was too aware of which spots were suitable for infiltration. The players in the command center looked at the map for over ten hours a day, perhaps more familiar with the terrain than the locals in Cuba.

The sudden outbreak of combat was like Mars falling into a haystack, instantly igniting a blaze, initially silent underbrush resonating with gunfire and explosions.

Hidden in the distance, David operated electronic equipment, reverse-locking onto the drone according to Mann’s tracked signal.

Then equipped the rifle with smart bullets, following the signal source to lock onto the target, da da da!

The smart bullets arced through the sky, hitting the drone attempting to escape lock, transforming it into a fireball crashing to the ground.

This is why players don’t use FPV suicide drones because, in front of the intelligence weapon-overflowing European Community, this stuff is literally a pile of scrap metal.

Ordinary eyes can’t lock onto you, but bio-eyes lock onto you too easily; originally, drones have no bulletproof capability.

And the place where combat erupted wasn’t just Mann’s squad, some players also collided with Soviet special forces while receiving a mission to come here for an evacuation cover.

"Suka blyat!"

"Hey, your Mother Russia is almost breaking your little brother’s leg, and you still have the mind to come to Cuba?"

The discovered Soviet Special Forces were dumbfounded to find the opposing group actually shouting

"Ura!!!"

"Turn neck right! (For the union/For the Soviet Union)"

Charged at them, the battlefield atmosphere suddenly turned Soviet, some players even went the extra mile and had drones in the sky playing [The Unbreakable Union] as battlefield BGM.
