Chapter 2099 - 38: Heart of Chongshan V

The chaotic and intertwined memories are like episodes of flashbacks, replaying in the mind.

"...Quick, attack them!"

In a haze, Time Reflection has already forgotten how those monsters appeared, only the panicked shouts of others in the team echo around.

He saw the rangers in the first squad draw their bows. The rangers' Magic Guided Gloves gripped the bow arms tightly, the Ether made the bowstrings pale and bright, but the Feather Arrows shot mostly missed the enemies.

Light arcs streaking through the darkness fell one after another, those monsters appeared like crystal-shaped humanoids, or a faint azure shadow reflected in a mirror world, their movements were swift, even faster than the hysterical screams of the squad captains:

"Front line, raise your shields, block them!"

But Time Reflection watched as an azure remnant image passed through the Shield Guards' clumsy line, rushed straight toward the Female Ranger Captain not far from him.

The agile ranger lady's upper body mysteriously folded back, flying up like a ragdoll, falling beside a sharp rock not far away.

Her entire lower body seemed to disappear, her wide open dark pupils were like a void, freezing that last moment of surprise in her expression as if she couldn't yet believe what had happened.

Time Reflection dared not look at that blood-stained rigid face, a fantasy he had of this lady not long ago seemed to instill some degree of guilt in him—although knowing all this was not another world's reality, yet the young man couldn't help but open his mouth wide, nearly suffocating.

The azure Crystal Monster turned towards him again, Time Reflection's limbs turned cold, momentarily forgetting how to react.

But suddenly a Combat Axe flew over from the side, slammed into the Crystal Monster's shoulder, causing it to stagger backwards.

Accompanied by a roar, a big burly man charged out from the side, taking advantage of the enemy's loss of balance, he crashed into it, sending it flying.

The man held a Great Shield, pinning the monster to the ground with it, then with a reverse hand pulled the Combat Axe from its shoulder, one axe, two axes, three axes, slicing the enemy's head into fragments all over the ground.

Only then did he turn around, still seeming to simmer with rage, grabbed Time Reflection's collar and roared:

"What are you staring at, don't want to live!? Quickly, prepare the Magic!"

Time Reflection jolted, only then recognizing this Berserker as their Captain.

But a scream interrupted their thoughts:

"...There are more and more of them!"

The big man turned back, looking at the azure shadows emerging in the darkness, frowning deeply.

"Retreat—"

He waved his hand forcefully: "Retreat into the cave in two groups, the third squad stays to cover the rear."

Though knowing covering the rear was certain death, yet the Iron Guards of the third squad fearlessly raised their Great Shields, throwing away the Heavy Swords in their hands, took down two segments of Long Halberd from their backs, assembling them together.

Because they knew, after resurrection the Guild would provide the corresponding compensation, escaping from here would only result in loss.

"Magic Guided squad moves first."

The big man turned around, pushed Time Reflection: "You stay for a while to give them a buff before leaving."

Time Reflection took a deep breath, finally snapping out of his prior daze, nodding. He turned back and looked at the scattered blue shadows in the darkness, knowing it was dangerous, but he couldn't choose otherwise.

"I'll have Rainbow stay to protect you," the big man patted his shoulder, "be careful."

The main force was retreating.

The Hydra Guild also left a squad to cover the rear, the two squads formed thin lines, blocking the center of the breach.

Time Reflection climbed onto a rock, preparing to cast a Spell from a higher ground, calculating the distance from here, not too close nor too far, just right.

However, he intended to step a little forward for safety, he wouldn't risk spell failure again. Although staying here is dangerous, yet unlike those Iron Guards below, he still had a chance to survive.

But a hand stretched out from the black smoke burgeoning behind, pulling him back, "Don't want to live?"

A Nightingale emerged from the parted smoke, her night-walk attire sculpted her graceful figure well, with a pair of sharp-toothed Daggers inserted on each side of the pitch-black Magic Guided Reactor behind her. Time Reflection knew these daggers had notable origins, rumored to be a pair of Legendary Level Magic Guided Conductors.

Just as he knew the identity of this girl.

Her name was Rainbow, she was the Nightingale Captain for this operation.

The girl glanced at him with her pale purple eyes, her tone was icy.

She then looked forward, speaking: "The distance here is enough, cast the Spell. The Captain wants me to bring you back alive, I wouldn't want to see you turn into a corpse."

Time Reflection shuddered, hurriedly nodding.

He raised the Magic Guided Wand, silently reciting the Spell in his mind, the Iron Guards had already engaged those blue crystal creatures, time left for him was scant.

Magic Guided Conductors must memorize their Spells, but those Spells when unable to concentrate due to tension, wander erratically in his mind, disrupting sequence, even disappearing into thin air, like unruly fairies.

He tried several times, eventually focusing his attention.

"Pretty quick indeed."

The Nightingale Girl mumbled an observation, understanding now why the Captain wanted her to watch over this person.

But just at that moment, a mild ground shake interrupted their thoughts, Rainbow looked at the loosening rock wall to the side, her face suddenly changed dramatically:
