Pillar of Yita
Chapter 2098 - 37: Heart of Chongshan IV_4
When the monster was torn apart, the array was also fading, until it completely disappeared. After the array had vanished, the crystal shards in his hand lost their luster and turned into ordinary stone fragments.
Fang Hong then understood why there were so many ordinary stone fragments in the camp earlier:
It turns out they were the corpses of the Disorderly Minions.
He tossed the stone fragments back to the ground and asked, "What was its combat level?"
"Level 30."
"Especially fast," Parker quickly answered, "It seemed to have a bit of psychic ability."
As a crossbowman who had transferred from Nightingale, Parker's agility level was not low. Even he emphasized the speed of this monster, which indicated that it was not to be underestimated.
And although Reed split it into two halves with a single stroke of the Holy Sword with attack power of four to five hundred, this didn't actually prove much.
Even creatures above Level 40 would find it hard to withstand the power of that sword.
Of course, this is assuming the Lion Paladin can hit a Level 40 or above opponent.
He used Papalarians as bait to decapitate it in one stroke. Under normal circumstances, this peculiar construct would be a tough fight for the both of them.
Fang Hong couldn't help but take a deep breath; this should be the humanoid construct beast mentioned in the log, and above it, there were the gigantic crab-like constructs, even higher were the Crystalysis Beasts.
He suddenly realized deeply that the journey to find Earth Origin Crystals might not be as simple as he imagined.
However, having come to this place, it would be unrealistic to retreat immediately. Moreover, though the Crystalysis Beasts appeared formidable, they seemed not undefendable for them.
But they needed to be cautious.
He then looked at the ring in his hand, which was just a very ordinary magic ring, something not even useful for the Seven Seas Travel Group members at this point.
However, he could at least infer the strength of its owner based on the level range of this piece of equipment; a person of Level 30-40 would not carry a magic ring of barely over Level 10.
Unless the ring was of legendary level or even higher, but it wasn't; it was just an ordinary magic ring, Level 13.
Of course, this didn't mean its owner was also Level 13. Generally, in such high-level areas, it's rare for an invoker below Level 15 to venture here. Looking at the underground walnuts, they would understand.
Because Fang Hong estimated that the opposing party might be around the Level 20 range.
"Was this ring left by the people who came to support?" he asked, holding the ring.
"Parker and I found traces they left behind," answered the Big Catfolk: "They hadn't been gone long, and even if there were earlier victims leaving relics behind, the ones before should have recovered them."
Fang Hong nodded; it seemed it was indeed the support teams mentioned in the logs, sent by other guilds.
If this support team had an average level of only about Level 20, then they might not realize that entering this crack was essentially a death wish.
It seemed the supply station people underestimated the severity of the issue. He now somewhat understood why the camp was obliterated overnight. Compared to the combat power of the Crystalysis Beasts, the personnel sent by various guilds were clearly too weak.
He casually tossed the ring to a group of underground walnut people behind him. According to common convention in Eteliria, relics belong to the retriever, and there were no objections to this. But they couldn't make use of the ring either, selling it wouldn't bring a sum. For the underground walnuts, however, it was just right.
The walnut group underground evidently didn't expect to gain any spoils of war, and couldn't help being a bit surprised. Zaozi, who received the ring, kept thanking profusely.
Fang Hong waved his hand, signaling them to quiet down.
Because it was precisely at this moment that his Clockwork Fairy discovered something.
In the direction where the Big Catfolk and Parker pointed out the footprints vanished, he first found signs of a fierce battle. The corpse of a Crystalysis Beast, shattered armor, and broken weapons were scattered all around.
In the grayish vision, dark bloodstains could be clearly seen, along with cracks on the rocks caused by magic explosions, but it was unclear which side won; it might not belong to the human side.
Because beneath the shadows, some remnant construct beasts were still lurking.
Then he saw a corpse—
No, it shouldn't be called a corpse, but a person lying on the ground. Fang Hong initially thought the person was dead, their starlight exhausted, curious how there could be such daredevils.
But suddenly, he realized he was mistaken.
For he saw the man's chest rise and fall slightly.
The person was not dead, merely unconscious.
Fang Hong immediately lifted his wind goggles, addressing the others: "There's someone alive up ahead, but there are quite a few monsters there, everyone, prepare for combat."
With a clang, the sword in the Big Catfolk's hand was drawn immediately.
