Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 892 Again!
"Mom!"
Preston Vance’s expression darkened. He rarely got angry, but when he did, it was terrifying. "Please don’t say things like that anymore. I advise you to either accept her existence or stay away from Breyburn. Out of sight, out of mind. After all, she really might end up with me someday."
Hearing this, Mrs. Vance and Ivy Vance both widened their eyes in disbelief.
Mrs. Vance swayed slightly. "W-what did you just say?"
Preston stood up. "The discharge paperwork is done. I’m heading back to my own place now. You don’t need to follow me." Without another word, he walked straight out of the hospital room.
Mrs. Vance felt a sudden wave of dizziness wash over her. She would have collapsed if Ivy hadn’t quickly supported her weight.
"Ivy, did I hear that right? Your brother said he wants to be with Chloe Reed?"
Ivy also looked stunned before gritting her teeth. "Yes, that’s exactly what he said. It seems he’s dead set on being with Chloe!"
"No, how could this happen? Chloe Reed is a jinx! She brought ruin to her own family, and the Grant family is completely falling apart now too. She absolutely cannot come and plague our family!" Mrs. Vance’s gaze gradually turned vicious. "I will never allow her into our family!"
Ivy looked at her, hesitating. "Mom, don’t do anything rash. If my brother finds out, he definitely won’t forgive you."
"I don’t care anymore. I can’t just sit back and let this happen," Mrs. Vance replied. "Ivy, do you really want her in our family?"
Ivy shook her head. "Of course not."
"Then help me think of a way to stop this. That woman brings nothing but trouble!"
Outside the hospital, Chloe Reed hailed a cab. She gave the driver the address to the psychological clinic and then stared quietly out the window.
But a moment later, she felt a heavy gaze land on her. Instantly on high alert, she looked forward. The driver wore a baseball cap and a black mask, concealing his face completely. Only his eyes were visible in the rearview mirror.
Chloe frowned slightly. She felt those eyes looked familiar, but for the life of her, she couldn’t remember where she had seen them before.
She quickly realized the car was not taking the route to the clinic. Pulling out her phone to check the GPS, she saw that the driver hadn’t just taken an alternate route—he was heading in the exact opposite direction.
Her heart sank. Reaching into her backpack, her hand closed tightly around the small dagger tucked inside. She couldn’t carry a gun in public, but she had made a point to pack the dagger and some pepper spray for self-defense.
Her face turned icy as she demanded, "Where are you taking me?"
The driver said nothing. He only accelerated.
Chloe’s heart sank even further. He wasn’t speaking, just driving onward as the traffic around them steadily thinned out. She wondered if he planned to wait until they reached a deserted area to get rid of her. Vera Holloway’s people were certainly working fast. They came in relentless waves, never giving her a single moment to relax.
As the car sped up, Chloe looked out the window. She knew she couldn’t just sit there and wait. The longer she delayed, the higher the chance of something going horribly wrong.
A cold glint flashed in her eyes, and her expression darkened. She pulled out the dagger, ready to strike first and gain the upper hand. But in the very next second, the driver pulled down his mask, revealing a face she was incredibly familiar with.
Her eyes widened in absolute shock, her hand pausing in mid-air.
"It’s you..."
