Chapter 63

"That is him... the demon!"

A woman’s voice reached Orion’s ears, drawing his attention toward the door.

He turned his snow-white face and saw the nurse from earlier standing there once again, accompanied by a doctor dressed in a white coat. His face was still pale, and his body trembled slightly as he continued processing the shocking revelations he had just discovered in his system.

It was rather ironic. At that very moment, Orion looked less like the devil the nurse claimed he was and more like a devil’s number one victim who had just suffered severe psychological trauma.

The doctor, however, didn’t seem to notice the irony. As soon as he saw Orion, he hurried toward the young man with quick footsteps, his expression filled with concern.

"Are you alright?"

As he spoke, he brought out a small, white, jade-like tool and immediately began scanning Orion’s body for any signs of injury. The device emitted a faint glow as it passed over Orion, carefully examining his physical condition while the doctor watched its readings with a serious expression, expecting to find something that might explain the young man’s strange appearance.

However, the results were completely unexpected.

There were no injuries. Not even a single sign of physical damage could be detected in Orion’s body. In fact, he was perfectly healthy, and his physical condition was so good that there was practically nothing for the doctor to worry about.

This meant that Orion wasn’t pale because of physical pain or some internal injury. Rather, he appeared to have been frightened... or shocked... by something.

That only raised another question.

Just what had this young man seen to leave him so shocked that his face had become whiter than white?

The doctor put away the jade-like tool and looked at Orion with even greater concern. "Are you alright?" he asked again, his gaze fixed on the young man whose eyes remained somewhat listless.

It took Orion a while to finally snap out of his daze. He blinked, slowly bringing his attention back to the people standing beside his bed before managing to nod after a brief pause.

"I... am... fine."

Was he?

Sincerely, Orion didn’t know. How could he possibly be fine after discovering everything he had just seen?

In the span of barely a day, he had gone from being a young man struggling to raise one hundred and fifty thousand points to someone who possessed enough treasures to potentially cause a world war. And those treasures were casually sitting inside his system’s storage!

The Golden Mirror alone was enough to turn him into a target for countless powerful individuals, while the Origin Awakening Eggs were even more ridiculous, possessing the potential to produce talents that belonged in myths and legends.

And he still had other items he hadn’t fully examined!

If news of his possession of these treasures ever got out, he would be cooked.

No... he would be thoroughly, completely, and irreversibly cooked.

There would be nowhere for him to hide if the major powers of the world discovered what he possessed. Every organization with enough influence would undoubtedly want a piece of the treasure, and those who couldn’t obtain it through peaceful means might resort to more brutal methods.

Just thinking about the consequences made Orion’s scalp tingle. He sucked in a deep breath and slowly exhaled, attempting to calm himself down. After a few seconds, he finally managed to regain some composure.

Then, he forced his usual warm smile onto his face and turned toward the doctor.

"You don’t have to worry about me, Doctor. I’m perfectly fine."

The doctor stared at him suspiciously, his gaze lingering on Orion’s unnaturally pale face as though silently asking a question.

If he was perfectly fine, then why did he look as though he had just witnessed the end of the world?

Orion noticed the doctor’s expression and rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, immediately understanding the question that must have been running through the man’s mind.

"Well... I just saw something that shocked me. That’s all."

He offered an innocent smile, hoping that would be enough to satisfy the doctor’s curiosity, then turned toward the nurse.

"And, miss, please refrain from calling me a demon, alright?"

Orion gestured toward himself as though the answer should have been obvious.

"As you can see, I’m a human just like you. I don’t have horns, wings, or a tail."

He paused briefly, allowing his words to sink in.

"Unless you can see something that I can’t?"

The nurse stared at him, seemingly uncertain about what to say for a moment. Then, she raised a finger that was still trembling slightly and pointed it directly at him.

"You... you lifted all those beds with just one finger without even touching them!"

Her voice rose as she recalled the scene that had frightened her earlier.

"That isn’t normal! That’s demonic!"

The doctor nearly frowned at her words. He was about to rebuke her for her cowardice. After all, telekinetic abilities, although rare, weren’t something that should leave a nurse this frightened.

This was the Age of Ascension, an era in which people awakened extraordinary talents and gained abilities that allowed them to accomplish feats beyond the capabilities of ordinary humans.

Even the nurse herself was an awakened individual. She might have been a weak one, but she was still an awakened.

Therefore, why was she reacting as though she had witnessed something that should have been physically impossible?

The doctor couldn’t understand it. Sure, Orion had used telekinesis to lift several beds, but that alone shouldn’t have been enough to make the nurse scream and run away as though she had encountered a genuine demon.

At least, that was what he had thought.

However, as the nurse continued stuttering through her words, she eventually managed to explain exactly what she had witnessed.

And when the doctor heard her explanation...

He froze.

His expression changed almost immediately.

There had been five beds in the room, and each one possessed its own considerable mass. These weren’t lightweight objects that could be casually lifted with a finger, especially not by someone who had only just awakened or reached the basic level.

Yet, according to the nurse, Orion had pointed a single finger at them and lifted all five beds simultaneously through telekinesis.

The doctor stared at Orion.

What?

That wasn’t just ridiculous. It was worse than a joke.

How was something like that even possible?

One had to understand that even the best telekinetic abilities generally offered only around a twenty percent increase to a person’s physical strength when their effects were applied to the body. Most of their actual power lay in manipulating external forces, and even then, the amount of force they could exert depended on the ability’s rank, the user’s strength, and the nature of the skill itself.

A powerful telekinetic might be able to lift several heavy objects, but there were still limits.

And Orion was clearly a Level One.

How could someone at that level lift five beds with a single finger?

Even a Level Ten warrior might struggle to accomplish the same feat under similar circumstances, especially if the telekinetic ability wasn’t particularly high-ranked.

The doctor couldn’t make sense of it.

Just how ridiculous are this young man’s stats and telekinetic abilities?

He looked at Orion again, as though trying to discover some hidden clue that might explain what had happened. However, Orion merely smiled at him.

When the doctor questioned him about the matter, Orion calmly and smoothly denied the nurse’s claims. He did it so naturally that anyone listening to him would have difficulty guessing that he was lying.

Orion wasn’t particularly fond of deceiving others. He had never been someone who enjoyed telling lies for the sake of it, and under ordinary circumstances, he would have preferred to explain things honestly.

But this wasn’t an ordinary situation.

He still didn’t understand the full scope of his Reawakening. He hadn’t even had enough time to properly explore his new abilities, much less determine just how powerful he had become or how drastically his body had changed.

Until he understood those things, he wasn’t going to go around admitting to feats that might attract unwanted attention. He had already discovered enough treasures to put his life in danger, and the last thing he needed was to make himself even more conspicuous.

For now, keeping a low profile was the most sensible decision.

The doctor eventually turned toward the nurse, his expression revealing that he wasn’t satisfied with her explanation.

"You perhaps need to change your glasses, Nurse Iryn."

The nurse opened her mouth, clearly intending to argue. She wanted to insist that she had seen everything with her own eyes, that she wasn’t imagining things, and that Orion had indeed lifted the beds without touching them.

But when she met the doctor’s gaze, her words died in her throat. She eventually lowered her head and fell silent.

After all, her claim sounded completely unreasonable.

There was no way a Level One could have accomplished what she was describing. Hell, a Level Ten warrior might not even be able to do the same with just one finger!

Yet, the young man sitting before them had apparently done exactly that.

Orion watched as Nurse Iryn walked away with her head bowed, and he couldn’t help feeling a little bad for her.

After all, she had been telling the truth.

He really had lifted those beds with a single finger. The nurse hadn’t imagined anything, nor had she mistaken what she saw.

If anything, her reaction was understandable.

Her claim probably sounds more like a miracle than anything else.

Orion sighed inwardly.

There is no way I should be strong enough to lift all those beds with one finger through telekinesis...

He paused, then let out a quiet chuckle despite himself.

The doctor immediately turned toward him, his gaze noticeably more serious.

"Speaking of miracles..."

He studied Orion for a moment before continuing.

"Mister Orion, your waking up so early is more than a miracle."

Orion’s smile faded slightly. The doctor’s words caught his attention, and he straightened up a little, turning his focus toward the man.

"You were brought to our hospital yesterday by Miss Katherine, famously known among the warriors’ guild as the Sky Dancer."

The moment those words entered his ears, Orion’s attention was immediately pulled away from everything else.

Katherine.

Sky Dancer.

Wasn’t she the last member of the Dungeon X raid who had failed to show up?

Orion’s eyes sharpened.

Wait...

She was the one who brought me here?

He had been wondering how he had survived the Dungeon X raid, where the other warriors were, and what had happened after the entire dungeon disappeared.

Now, he had finally received a clue, but the revelation only gave birth to more questions.

Where had Katherine found him? What had happened to the other members of the raid? Were they still alive? Had they been brought to the same hospital as well?

And if Katherine had managed to find him, did that mean she knew something about what had happened inside Dungeon X?

Orion couldn’t hold back any longer.

"Where did she find me? What happened to the others? Were they brought to this hospital too? Are they still alive? And why was I the only one you mentioned?"

The questions came one after another, leaving the doctor with barely enough time to respond to any of them. Orion continued asking, his urgency growing with every passing second.

He needed answers.

He had already lost too much time trying to piece together his missing memories. Now that someone who had been involved in the Dungeon X raid had apparently brought him to the hospital, he couldn’t afford to let the opportunity slip away.

Unfortunately, the doctor had absolutely no answers to give him.

After allowing Orion to bombard him with questions for a while longer, he finally let out a small cough. The sound was enough to interrupt the young man’s increasingly rapid stream of questions.

The doctor adjusted his posture and answered calmly.

"I’m afraid I don’t have the answers to those questions."

Orion paused as the doctor continued.

"You should ask Lady Katherine for the details yourself. She was the one who brought you to us, after all."

Orion frowned slightly. It wasn’t the answer he had hoped for, but he supposed it made sense.

If Katherine was the one who had found him and brought him to the hospital, she would probably know more about what had happened than anyone else. Still, he had no way of knowing when he would get the chance to speak with her.

For the time being, he decided to ask the doctor some other questions... questions that the man might actually be able to answer.

As their conversation continued, Orion learned that he was currently in Daylight City, a Level Two city.

The revelation surprised him a little, though it also brought a certain degree of relief. Daylight City was the same city where his mother and younger sister had gone for iris treatment.

At least, they had been there the last time he knew anything about their whereabouts.

Orion began wondering whether he should visit them. Were they still in Daylight City, or had they already returned home?

He hadn’t seen them for some time, and after everything that had happened inside Dungeon X, he couldn’t help wanting to make sure they were alright.

However, there was something else the doctor told him that caught his attention.

According to the doctor’s calculations, Orion should have remained in a coma for months, possibly even years.

Based on his previous condition and the circumstances surrounding his arrival at the hospital, there had been no reasonable explanation for him to wake up so soon.

Yet, on the very next day after that assessment, he had suddenly awakened completely healthy.

No lingering injuries, no visible complications, not even the slightest indication that he had been on the verge of spending months or years unconscious.

It was, in the doctor’s own words, a genuine miracle.

Orion listened quietly, his thoughts drifting back toward the events of Dungeon X.
