Chapter 268: 268: Sneaky Monsters.

Ayra gasped at the scene. "Where are they even coming from...?"

Commander Lynn turned to her. "Stay there... Don’t move." He moved further ahead to fight off ten monsters that were charging toward them.

The warrior beastmen had grown stronger this time. Even with the number of monsters flooding into the cave, they didn’t seem too bothered.

They used their newfound energy to smash through them, their hands pounding against the monsters and their fists sending blood flying as they threw them into the distance.

It was a brutal fight, and Ayra stood at a distance watching. She was too busy watching the battle and counting down the time she had left for her task that she didn’t even notice the monster sneaking up on her.

Ayra stood there as a leopard slowly approached her from the side. Before she could notice it, it was already too late.

The leopard growled and jumped at her.

She instantly turned toward it in immense panic. Her mind went numb as the leopard came closer.

"Ah!"

Ayra screamed in panic as she moved backward, covering herself with both hands. But the leopard was already flying down toward her, ready to devour her.

Commander Lynn jumped in almost immediately, moving like a flash.

He drove his claw deep into the monster’s skin and dragged it across, causing blood to spill. The leopard groaned in pain as Commander Lynn sent it flying and crashing against the rocks.

He quickly turned toward Ayra.

"Are you okay?" he asked, helping her firmly to her feet.

Ayra was relieved as she slowly nodded. "I’m fine..."

She looked up at him, but almost immediately, she noticed another monster coming from behind Commander Lynn.

Her eyes widened in panic.

"Behind you!"

She tried to warn him, but it was already too late.

The leopard crashed into Commander Lynn, digging its claws deep into his back and sending blood dripping down.

Blood spilled from Lynn’s lips as he staggered backward and fell to his knees. But before he could fall completely, he turned and sent his claws straight at the monster, sending it flying to its death.

Commander Lynn remained on his knees, filled with pain and anger from the attack.

Ayra immediately dropped to her knees beside him.

"Are you okay?" she asked in panic as she held him firmly.

She could feel his energy growing unstable. His Berserk was also spiking.

[Ding]

[Attention, Host. Commander Lynn’s injury is severe and needs immediate attention.]

[His injury is directly affecting and spiking his Berserk energy.]

[Berserk: 60%]

[Spiking at an unstable rate.]

[Attention: Host should take care of Commander Lynn before it gets intense.]

Ayra gasped, instantly worried as she held Commander Lynn. She soothingly ran her hand through his hair, over his ears, and across his face.

She was extremely worried about him.

"It’s okay... I’m here. It’s okay..."

While the others continued fighting the influx of monsters around the area, Ayra grew increasingly pissed off. She slowly looked up at the monsters that were still fighting as though they hadn’t just harmed her mate.

No one harms her mate and gets away with it!

Annoyed, Ayra stared at the monsters that were now approaching her. Their mouths watered with the hunger to devour her.

But Ayra simply glared at the scene.

"And what do you think you want to do now...? Wasn’t harming him enough?"

The monsters didn’t seem to care.

They jumped toward her, attempting to strike Ayra down and devour her.

But while they were still in the air, Ayra glared up at them viciously as she proceeded to use the skills she had unlocked a while ago.

Ayra shot venom from her hands, green venomous energy flying through her palms and spreading toward the monsters.

[Ding]

[Venom energy in motion.]

[Venom capability: Kill.]

Immediately, the green venomous energy consumed the monsters.

They fell to the ground without hesitation, choking as though something unseen had entered their bodies. One after another, they collapsed and died without putting up another fight.

More monsters were coming at Ayra at this point.

Ayra casually raised her eyebrows as she stared at her palms.

"Well... I guess these skills sure do come in handy," she said, proceeding to use them against the approaching monsters.

Ayra struck them down with the venom, sending them to their deaths without hesitation. And after clearing the area around her, she immediately turned back to Commander Lynn, who was still in her arms and writhing in pain.

[Ding]

[Berserk level spiking.]

[80%]

Commander Lynn groaned and moved in immense pain.

"Stay calm..." Ayra said. "I’ll heal you first."

She gently ran her hands over his body.

Her fingers traced through his muscles, caressing his chest and hands as she closed her eyes.

Ayra transferred her energy into him, using it to heal his injuries. It took a while, but slowly, Commander Lynn began to feel the pain inside him decrease.

He groaned as the pain gradually calmed, and the physical injuries also began clearing up. The bleeding stopped, and the wounds slowly began closing until Commander Lynn’s only remaining issue was his Berserk.

Done physically healing him, Ayra slowly opened her eyes and stared at Commander Lynn with a smile.

But she could feel her energy draining.

It was as though she had done an excessive amount of work, and she was growing tired. But she couldn’t stop.

She wasn’t done yet.

[Ding]

[Host’s energy is falling low.]

[Energy: 40%]

[Host is already weak. And with the current conditions, using healing and soothing will only continue draining Host’s energy.]

[Host has less than 40 minutes to get the task done in order to rebuild energy.]

Ayra sighed as she stared down at Commander Lynn.

"Let’s get you temporarily soothed first..." she said casually as she gently ran her hands through his hair.

Ayra closed her eyes, using her energy to calm his nerves and help him relax. Her hands moved through his hair, over his ears, and down to his face, gently caressing him until Commander Lynn was completely relaxed.

And then, she proceeded to soothe him.
