Chapter 269: 269: Strange Behaviors.

Ayra knew she needed to temporarily work on his soothing, at least enough to stop his berserk level from spiking any further.

At least, that was a start.

And so, she gently caressed his skin while calming him down, her energy pouring through him along with her pheromones to bring down his berserk level.

[Ding]

[Congratulations, Host. Commander Lynn’s berserk level has been balanced.]

[Berserk: 50%]

[Host still needs to fully eliminate the negative berserk energy completely.]

Ayra sat there, staring down at him. She could feel her energy draining as the system made its announcement.

[Ding]

[Warning, Host! Consequently, Host’s energy is unstable and falling.]

[Energy: 30%]

[Host! You have around 30 minutes to proceed with the task and obtain the rewards!]

[Host should hurry up before Host’s energy drops further.]

Ayra gasped, shaking her head. Was the system kidding her right now? Hurry up in the middle of a fight and in front of everyone?!

She couldn’t be that shameless!

By the time Ayra looked up, the scene was already clear. Nyx and the other warrior beastmen had taken down all the monsters.

They stood there triumphantly, looking around at their victory. Ayra was rather impressed.

"Are you okay...?" Nyx walked up to them. "You look so pale..."

Ayra smiled and nodded. "I’ll be fine..." She then stared down at Commander Lynn.

Everyone did.

"How’s he doing?" one of the beastmen asked.

"He’s out of danger. But I’ll need to run the final stage of purification so he doesn’t relapse anytime soon," she explained, and they nodded.

"There’s an inner cave room over there," one of the beastmen explained, pointing in a certain direction. "Maybe we could take him in there for you to work on him."

Ayra felt herself flush at the statement. She simply managed to nod as Nyx spoke.

"I’ll have to do more research on the monsters here..." he explained, turning to look at the dead bodies of the monsters they had taken down. "I feel like there’s more to it than what we saw..." ℓ.

Ayra nodded in agreement. "I suppose..."

One of the warrior beastmen offered, "Should we take him into the cave room now...?"

Before Ayra could nod, one of the warrior beastmen suddenly started crying.

Everyone paused and stared at him, confused and surprised.

The fox warrior beastman was standing there, suddenly sobbing like a child.

"What’s wrong with you...?" the wolf beastman asked.

"I think I hurt my hand..." the fox said, showing everyone his fingers.

Of all the injuries everyone had acquired and said nothing about, this fox was crying over a little bruise on his finger.

He continued sobbing like a child while everyone stared at him in confusion, trying to understand what was happening.

Then the fox dropped to the floor, sitting on his ass while throwing a tantrum and crying, "My finger hurts so much..."

As they stared, another beastman leaned against another and began complaining.

"I want to sleep, but it’s so cold here... Can we get some warm blankets?" he said, shivering.

"..." Ayra and the rest stared in confusion as the one crying and the one complaining about the cold continued their antics.

Then, two more suddenly joined in the crying.

"I’m hungry..." They rubbed their stomachs. "Is there any meat left...?"

"I’m so hungry!"

"Food, please!" they sobbed.

Almost immediately, another hid behind a lion beastman.

"I’m so scared... Are the monsters gone yet? Will they come back for us...?"

"I’m hungry. Feed me..."

"I’m so scared... Please, let’s go home..."

"It’s so cold... I feel so cold."

"My finger hurts..."

They threw tantrum after tantrum as Ayra and the rest stared at them in confusion.

"What’s happening? Did the monsters possess them or something?" one of them asked.

And at that moment, Ayra understood what was happening.

Without hesitation, she instantly burst into gentle laughter.

"What’s happening?" Nyx asked as they curiously stared at Ayra.

Ayra continued laughing for a while before shaking her head. "Don’t worry, it’s nothing serious. Just some side effects."

"..."

"Side effects?"

Ayra nodded as she explained how the baby milk she had handed to them had side effects.

"It’s for babies, after all... So I think that’s why they’re throwing tantrums like kids." She smiled.

"Oh." Nyx slowly nodded as they watched the beastmen continue crying and throwing tantrums.

As though it were contagious, some soon joined in with their own childish tantrums.

Ayra found it so funny that she couldn’t help but laugh even more with the little strength she had left. She guessed this was what the system had meant by side effects.

"Am I going to join in soon...?" one of the warrior beastmen asked, blinking in horror.

Ayra smiled. "It won’t happen to everyone. Some will and some won’t," she explained.

"Oh. How long will it last, though?" another inquired.

Ayra shrugged. "We never know. But I doubt it’ll take that long. It should wear off before morning," she explained with a smile.

They all nodded while watching the beastmen around them throw tantrums and cry like little kids.

They guessed the legendary rare milk that made them feel like S-rank gods also came with some serious side effects!

[Ding]

[Host! 25 minutes left to complete the task.]

The system’s reminder made Ayra stare at it before she said, "Let’s waste no time. Before you all go into baby mode, please help me take him to the room."

"Yes, sure."

The warrior beastmen around them helped carry Commander Lynn carefully toward the inner cave room.

It was a bit distant from the current exterior cave room they were in, so whatever was happening inside wouldn’t be too obvious to those outside.

Ayra found that to be a relief.

And while they made their way into the inner cave, Ayra wondered what Commander Lynn’s reaction to the milk’s side effects would be.

She wondered if he would also throw tantrums and cry like the others out there, or if it would be something else entirely.

Ayra couldn’t help but entertain such humorous thoughts as they continued moving.

Soon, they arrived at the inner cave room.
