Chapter 144: 144: Nothing!

Ayra was shocked with the cub in her arms as she turned to see a light spark close by.

Those in charge of presenting the surprise were supposed to light up the atmosphere with a beautiful spark of light that would illuminate the beautifully decorated area.

But accidents happen and the light instantly sparked and the tree at the side caught fire.

Ayra and Ally stood there watching as the beastmen ran helter-skelter while struggling to put out the fire.

They ran like little dramatic TV people in fast-forward motion, blowing the fire, fanning it and finally getting water to put off the fire.

Ayra and Ally blinked as Ally said, "Fire..."

Ayra stared at the three tribe lords and Rai who were standing in a distance as the light lit up in the atmosphere, exposing the surprise they had prepared. A decorated space for Commander Lynn.

"..." Ayra slowly turned to look at Commander Lynn who was also staring at the scene, surprised.

The fire burning at spaces, the fruits set up at spaces, the logs kept as chairs and the writing inscription which said:

Happy Wolf

Commander Lynn didn’t know what to make of it. And Ayra guessed this was a lesson never to leave the beastmen to handle such events without supervision.

Because the surprise was really looking... Surprising.

"Surprise....?" Rai forced a smile as a tree at a corner fell down to the ground and smoke filled the atmosphere.

All of them instantly began coughing long until the dust calmed down a bit. And then Lord Ash stared at Ayra with a smile.

Ayra blinked. A very big lesson indeed!

Ayra had handed the cub over to Lord Ash while she led Commander Lynn to take a seat in the midst of the celebration.

Commander Lynn sat down, confused, while Ayra brought out a crown made of flowers to hand to him. "What’s this...?" He asked.

Ayra smiled. "It’s your birthday crown, silly," she shook her head.

Commander Lynn was surprised. "Birth.. what...? What’s that?"

Rai smiled as he happily leaned in and explained what that meant according to what the female had explained.

Ayra smiled. "Exactly."

Commander Lynn blinked while he stared at the female. "Huh? But... This isn’t the date I was given birth to at all... I don’t even think I remember the date at all..."

Ayra smiled as she said, "And that’s the point of this. Celebrating you nevertheless. Pick a date and then give it to you in celebration." She smiled as she added, "So all you have to do is remember this day and make it your birthday."

She stared at him with a soft smile. And Commander Lynn sat there staring at her smile, his heart fluttering.

"Is that how.. it works...?" Commander Lynn was confused.

Ayra smiled. "According to my rule, it works," she smiled as she stared at the beastmen. "And same applies for everyone here. If you don’t remember your birthday, pick a date and we shall all celebrate you."

Rai happily said, "I’m working towards picking a day too!"

"Me too!" Kan added. "I’ll pick the best day so I’ll take my time."

"No, I’ll pick the best day," Rai said as the two proceeded to bicker.

Ayra shook her head with a smile as she said, "So let’s take away that flower on your hair and give you this..."

Commander Lynn still had the daisy flower Ayra had given him in his hair. And as she leaned in to remove it, Commander Lynn leaned backwards as if he didn’t want it removed.

Rai stared. "Why does brother have a flower on his hair? That’s not like brother at all."

Lord Ash nodded. "Yes. It doesn’t look like his style at all. It’s my style," he smiled.

Little Ally stared up as she said, "Mama flowers! Silly Wolf... flower..." She kept saying and it was enough to make them understand what happened.

They stared at Commander Lynn quietly as Lord Ash smiled. "Well, I guess the female did give it to you."

"And brother doesn’t want to take it off," Rai giggled.

But Commander Lynn kept a calm face as he removed the flower and held it.

Ayra smiled as she placed the crown over his hair. "That’s more pretty now," she added. "Let’s proceed with the mini celebration."

The celebration kicked off with each beastmen invited to give a speech about Commander Lynn in front of him.

While everyone sat and watched, everyone would approach with a speech one by one, giving heartfelt emotional words to Commander Lynn to celebrate him.

Lord Zark had nothing much to say. So he commended him for his hard work. Lord Vale also did the same.

Lord Ash came with his speech, listing out all the help Commander Lynn had offered to him. How he’s more than a brother who had helped him through thick and thin.

His speech was the longest expressing his heartfelt words on how grateful he is to him for all his help.

And as he gave his speech, some beastmen couldn’t help but feel emotional while they stared. Ayra too felt emotional when she stared at Commander Lynn.

She was keeping an eye on him to know if he’d at least smile from the heartwarming emotions. But nothing happened. Commander Lynn sat there like a robot with a cold expression.

And the system didn’t record any increase.

Ayra was speechless as she shook her head. "Truly emotionless..." She feared her success at completing this task tonight!

The speeches kept coming. And even when Rai came and gave his heartfelt speech of appreciation to his brother for all his help, Ayra stared at Commander Lynn again.

Nothing!

He wasn’t smiling. He wasn’t even showing any emotions at all. He was just sitting there and staring at his brother as if his brother owed him some great sum of money or something!

Ayra shook her head. "This wolf is something..." She gasped.

And soon it was her turn. She came up, standing before Commander Lynn to make her speech.

Ayra smiled. She guessed she’d have to do something else other than an emotional speech!
