Chapter 82: The Intermediate Divine Temple, There’s Multiple Domains?!
Chapter 82: Chapter 82: The Intermediate Divine Temple, There’s Multiple Domains?!
BOOM! BOOM!
Two beams of light descended from the sky without warning, striking both Leon and Emilia at the same time.
The force wasn’t violent, but it was absolute.
The moment the light touched them, their bodies were lifted off the ground as if pulled by an invisible hand, rising straight upward.
Their surroundings vanished instantly. Everything turned white.
There was no sense of direction, no sound, no feeling of movement, just a brief, empty pause where even time felt unclear.
Leon had experienced this once before, yet the sensation was just as disorienting as the first time.
Emilia, on the other hand, stiffened slightly, her grip tightening around her scepter.
And then, a few seconds later—
Ding!
[You have arrived at the “Intermediate Divine Temple”]
[Please enter the temple to begin your assessment, you may also rest inside if you want to.]
Leon opened his eyes. The light faded, and the world returned in an instant.
He took a slow breath and looked around, instinctively comparing everything to his memories.
This place was nothing like the [Novice Divine Temple].
The first temple had floated high in the sky, surrounded by endless clouds, calm and almost serene. This one was far more violent.
Leon stood on solid, dark ground that constantly trembled beneath his feet, as if the land itself was alive.
The shaking wasn’t enough to throw anyone off balance, but it was impossible to ignore.
Above them, the sky was just as dark as the ground, filled with chaotic displays of power.
Lightning cracked across the heavens in jagged lines.
Pillars of fire erupted and vanished. Waves of water spiraled upward before dispersing into mist.
Gusts of wind tore through the air, colliding with everything else in a constant storm of elements.
It was overwhelming, yet strangely controlled.
Leon lifted his gaze toward the massive structure in front of them.
The [Intermediate Divine Temple] stood tall and imposing, similar in shape to the first one, yet clearly more refined.
Its walls were darker, thicker, and carried an aura that made it feel far more oppressive.
At the front of the temple stood four massive pillars, each engraved with a symbol: Fire, Water, Wind and Earth.
Leon immediately recognized them as the four basic elements of [Eternal Ascension].
Of course, the world had many other elements: Light, Darkness, Blood, Space, and countless others, but those were considered more advanced paths.
These four were the foundation. Everything else branched from them.
Still, Leon knew something most people didn’t.
Despite the symbols, these elements had never actually played any role in the assessment process.
Not in the Intermediate Temple. Not even in the Advanced one. At least, not up to A-Rank.
Leon had asked countless people about it in his past life. Players who had gone through every assessment he hadn’t reached. No one knew why the pillars were there.
They were just… decoration. Or perhaps a remnant of something that no longer mattered.
“Oh well.”
Leon shrugged lightly and stepped forward, deciding not to dwell on it.
Around them, beams of light continued to descend one after another.
Players appeared in flashes, looking around in confusion, shock, or excitement.
These were the ones who had reached level 25 and chosen [Yes] when the system offered them teleportation.
Different races. Different builds. Different expressions.
Some looked confident. Others nervous. A few were already scanning the area with sharp eyes, clearly experienced.
And then—
“I’m confused.”
Leon turned slightly.
Emilia had spawned right next to him, likely by sheer coincidence.
Despite being close to him, her expression remained tense, her brows slightly furrowed as she stared around.
“About what?” Leon asked casually. “Seems normal to me. It’s just like the first time.”
“Sure,” Emilia replied, nodding slowly as they began walking toward the temple entrance, “but… where did all those people come from?”
Leon paused for half a second before realizing what she meant.
“…Ohhh,” he said, understanding dawning on his face. “You thought there was only one [Lower Domain], right?”
“What?” Emilia stopped walking, shock written plainly across her face. “There’s multiple?!”
“I mean…” Leon scratched his chin. “There’s way too many people for just one. Plus, there are also multiple [Higher Domains].”
Emilia stared at him for a moment, then slowly processed his words.
“Wow…”
“The only place with a single instance is the [Eternal Domain],” Leon continued. “That’s where the strongest players gather.”
“That explains it,” Emilia said, nodding to herself. “That’s why we never saw a beam of light descend before, even when there were tons of players around.”
“Exactly.”
Many players had made the same assumption Emilia did early on. Most believed there was only one [Lower Domain], simply because that was all they could see.
It wasn’t until their second assessment that the truth became clear.
Even then, it wasn’t as simple as having multiple identical domains.
Each [Lower Domain] was different.
Merek and Tolkien, for example, existed only in Leon’s domain.
Other domains had different NPCs, altered zones, or entire regions that didn’t exist elsewhere.
Some had deserts where Leon’s had forests. Others had oceans in places where Leon remembered plains.
It wasn’t just small changes. Sometimes, the entire progression path of a domain could be different.
Leon had spoken to countless people about this in his past life. Comparing domains had been strangely fun back then.
But now wasn’t the time to reminisce. They continued forward.
The massive gate of the temple stood open, allowing players to pass freely. Beyond it lay a long corridor, eerily similar to the one in the [Novice Divine Temple].
Leon and Emilia stepped inside.
The moment they reached the end of the corridor—
Fwoosh!
The world shifted again. In an instant, they were transported into a vast hall.
This one was enormous. Tens of thousands of individuals filled the space, their voices blending into a constant hum.
Groups had already formed, with players gathering alongside others of their own race.
Elves with elves. Humans with humans. Beastkin with beastkin.
“Still nobody’s talking to another race,” Emilia observed quietly as she looked around. “Or if they do, it’s just to make fun of one another.”
Her voice was calm, but Leon could hear the slight tension beneath it.
“I don’t want people to judge you because you’re with me,” she added with a sigh. “I hope nothing bad happens.”
Leon was about to respond—
Ding!
[Killing is forbidden in here, any violators will be obliterated.]
Leon glanced at the panel and relaxed slightly.
“At least no one’s stupid enough to try anything,” he said. “That’s instant death.”
Many players were already glancing in their direction.
A human and an elf together still drew attention, even now.
Some stared openly. Others whispered. A few smirked.
But compared to the early days of [Eternal Ascension], reactions like these were tame.
After all, humans from Earth had found the existence of other races shocking. Seeing elves, dwarves, and monsters that could speak had felt unreal.
Over time, they adapted.
The same applied to other races seeing humans and others for the first time.
Leon himself couldn’t help but glance around occasionally. The sheer variety was impressive.
Goblins with sharp grins. Mermaids floating within spheres of water. Dwarves clad in heavy armor. Horsemen with hooves striking the ground..
Hundreds of races, each with unique traits. Still, Leon and Emilia didn’t linger.
They headed straight toward the [Divine Stele].
Just like in the first temple, this was where players received their rank assessment, announced openly for everyone to see.
Ding!
[B-Rank.]
Ding!
[C-Rank.]
Panels flashed repeatedly as players stepped forward one after another. Cheers erupted for high ranks. Mockery followed low ones.
And then, it was Emilia’s turn.
She stepped forward calmly, her posture straight as she placed her hand against the stele.
The hall grew quieter. A few seconds passed.
Then—
Ding! BOOM!
Blinding light exploded outward, flooding the entire hall.
Every conversation stopped. All eyes turned toward the source.
Unlike the Novice Temple, many people here immediately understood what that light meant.
[S-Rank.]
It was rare. Extremely rare. But not unheard of.
Some individuals from eternal-level worlds, and the absolute elites of high-level worlds, occasionally reached it.
Still, it was something most players would never achieve.
Fwoosh!
A massive [S-Rank] panel appeared, dominating everyone’s vision.
Leon grinned.
“Nice,” he said softly. “Looks like helping her was worth it.”
Emilia turned, clearly excited, about to walk back toward him—
“Hold on, lady.”
An elf stepped forward, blocking her path.
“I see that you’re strong,” he said with a confident smile. “How about ditching that low-level world human and joining us? You’ll get much stronger.”
The hall fell silent once more. Some people saw opportunity.
Others waited to see what would happen next.
