Chapter 70: Acquiring The Blood Heart, 150 Reputation Points
Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Acquiring The Blood Heart, 150 Reputation Points
Leon still had his [Darkness Barrier] active.
It was being continuously fueled by his [Embodiment of Darkness] sub-talent, which meant that even at only level 2, the barrier was absurdly strong.
At this stage, it was powerful enough to block nearly any attack that tried to pierce through it.
Because of that, Leon made a decision instantly. The moment he realized the [Blood Flames] would hit the [Blood Heart], he moved.
Fwoosh!
In a blink, Leon placed himself directly in front of the heart. The torrent of crimson flames slammed into him instead.
Anyone else who tried something like this would have either had their barrier shattered instantly or would have been burned alive by the overwhelming heat.
Even high-level players would hesitate before doing something so reckless.
His [Darkness Barrier] flared violently as it absorbed the impact.
Cracks spread across its surface, spiderwebbing outward under the pressure of the flames.
The heat was intense enough to warp the air itself. And yet, Leon stood firm.
The flames hit his barrier and were pushed aside, spreading harmlessly to the left and right. They no longer touched the [Blood Heart] behind him.
Seconds passed. The pressure continued.
Leon clenched his teeth as his darkness barrier drained rapidly, but he held his position.
Finally, the [Blood Flames] faded away completely. Silence returned to the sanctuary.
Leon slowly turned his head and looked behind him. The [Blood Heart] was still there.
Several deep cracks ran across its surface, glowing faintly with crimson light, but it had not shattered. It was still intact.
Leon exhaled deeply. And then…
Ding!
[You have completed the “Blood Heart” Challenge.]
“Perfect,” Leon muttered, a wide grin spreading across his face.
Only then did he allow himself to relax.
He straightened his posture and looked around as more system panels appeared before him, triggered by the death of the [Blood Wyvern].
Ding!
[You have killed “Blood Wyvern (Challenge Boss)” and gained 12,000 experience points.]
[100% Drop Rate has triggered. Items have been automatically placed in your storage space.]
Ding!
[Congratulations, you have leveled up to Level 21!]
[Due to “Heaven’s Blessing”, you have gained 100 points in all attributes and 100 free points to distribute.]
“Haha!” Leon laughed out loud. The surge of power felt satisfying.
His [Storage Space] was now packed with loot from the three mutated monsters as well as the [Blood Wyvern]. Even without checking, he knew the drops would be excellent.
Still, before looking at any of that, Leon turned back toward the pedestal. The [Blood Heart] began to glow.
Its crimson light intensified, spreading outward in gentle pulses that sent small shockwaves through the sanctuary.
The air trembled slightly as the heart responded to the completed challenge.
Clang!
One of the chains binding it to the pedestal shattered.
Clang! Clang!
The remaining chains broke one after another, fragments falling to the ground and dissolving into particles of light.
Slowly, the [Blood Heart] lifted into the air. It hovered above the pedestal, rotating slowly, as if examining Leon in return.
Ding!
[The “Blood Heart” has recognized you as its true owner.]
Leon’s eyes widened. Before he could react, the heart shot forward. Straight into his chest.
A warm, powerful sensation flooded through his body. His heartbeat synced with the pulsing rhythm of the heart, as if it had always belonged there.
Leon stiffened for a brief moment, then relaxed as the sensation settled.
Items that fused directly with a player’s body were extraordinarily rare. Unlike equipment or consumables, they never entered the [Storage Space].
They became part of the user. And more importantly, they could never be stolen.
Ding!
[Congratulations, you have obtained the “Blood Heart” (Unique Special Item).]
Leon immediately appraised it again. Now that it had fully bonded with him, more information appeared.
—
[Blood Heart (Unique Special Item): Contains the holy power of the “Blood Moon”, allowing its user to bless a piece of their equipment.]
[Once used, the blessing will only reset after killing a certain number of monsters.]
[The monsters must not be significantly weaker than the user.]
[Each piece of equipment can only be blessed once. The “Blood Heart” itself can be used infinitely.]
—
“Oh shit,” Leon muttered, eyes wide. “That’s insane.”
Even in his past life, Leon had never possessed an item like this.
A unique item that could permanently bless equipment was beyond rare. It was the kind of item that could completely change a player’s growth path.
And unlike equipment that could be dropped or stolen upon death, the [Blood Heart] was untouchable.
If Leon died permanently with it, no one else would ever be able to obtain it.
The moment that thought crossed his mind, another system notification echoed across the entire [Lower Domain].
Ding!
[Player “Celestial” is the first to complete the “Blood Heart Challenge” and has been rewarded with 50 Reputation Points.]
Ding!
[Your reputation has reached 150, you will now gain an additional 25 attribute points per level.]
“DAMN!”
Leon stared at the panels in disbelief. He had expected some sort of reward, but not this much.
Global announcements were rare, especially in the [Lower Domain]. The fact that this one had triggered meant that truly no one even came close to clearing it.
And that meant every single player in the [Lower Domain] saw his name. Including those at level 50.
Leon didn’t know what to think of the new attention, as it could indeed be dangerous.
Many level 50 players would possibly instantly try to catch him to see if they could “steal” what he had.
Though for now, they were unaware of where the [Blood Heart Challenge] was.
And by the time those “killer players” at the top attempted to find him, he would already be out of [Moon City] hopefully.
“What the hell is the Blood Heart Challenge?”
“Celestial? Never heard of him before.”
“Wait, isn’t that the guy selling crazy stuff in the Trading House?”
The discussions erupted instantly. Players across cities and zones stopped what they were doing, trying to understand what had just happened.
The last global announcement had been a long time ago, and seeing a new one immediately drew attention.
Meanwhile, Emilia, who was still inside of the [Blood Moon Cathedral] right outside the sanctuary, saw the announcement and laughed softly after firing a [Divine Beam] at an enemy.
“Haha, I knew he’d beat it,” she said with a grin.
She had spent the few minutes he spent in the sanctuary killing monsters.
Since none of them could harm her, it made it much easier to kill them one by one with her skills.
Leon, however, was already thinking ahead.
“If that panel is correct,” he muttered, “I’ll now get 125 attribute points per level.”
Base attributes, Heaven’s Blessing, and now reputation bonuses all stacked together. That kind of growth was terrifying.
Most players in the [Lower Domain] never even reached 150 reputation points. Gaining reputation required doing things considered extraordinary by the system.
Leon had surpassed that without even reaching level 25.
“Alright,” Leon said quietly. “First things first.”
He opened his [Storage Space].
“Let’s see what I got.”
Fwoosh!
The interface expanded before him, filled with new items and materials, each one waiting to be examined.
After that, he planned to test the [Blood Heart] blessing. He wanted to see just how powerful it truly was.
