Chapter 69: The Blood Wyvern, Unshaken Passive

Chapter 69: Chapter 69: The Blood Wyvern, Unshaken Passive

ROOOAR!

The roar shook the entire sanctuary, sending vibrations through the ground and into Leon’s chest.

The creature before him was massive, standing nearly five meters tall. Its body was covered in thick crimson scales that reflected the light of the [Blood Moon], making it impossible to look away.

Wide wings folded behind its back, sharp claws dug into the stone floor, and its presence alone carried overwhelming pressure.

Leon did not hesitate.

Appraisal!

[Blood Wyvern (Challenge Boss)]

[Level: 25]

[Talent: Blood Affinity (B-Level)]

[Combat Power: 50,000]

[Details: A wyvern with a deep affinity to the “Blood Moon”.]

“A wyvern this early?” Leon muttered, genuine surprise flashing across his face. “And fifty thousand combat power?”

That was far beyond what he had expected.

Wyverns were not ordinary monsters. While they were weaker than true dragons or drakes, they were still classified as dragon-type creatures.

Fighting one was never simple, especially not at this stage.

Leon had always believed that wyverns only began appearing properly in the [Higher Domain].

He had never once heard of one existing in the [Lower Domain]. Dragons themselves were completely absent here, and even in the [Higher Domain], only a single one was known to exist.

The [Eternal Domain] was where the true nightmares resided. That was where the most terrifying beasts waited.

By the time he reached that place again, Leon knew he would be strong enough to face them. He would have to be.

If he wanted to challenge the gods themselves one day, then creatures like this were only stepping stones.

The memory of the [God of Eternity] surfaced briefly in his mind. Even now, Leon could not imagine a clear way to defeat such an existence.

Still, he knew one thing for certain. It was possible.

ROOOAR!

The [Blood Wyvern] took a heavy step forward, its claws scraping against the stone.

Then its eyes began to glow.

Wyvern Glare!

A dense crimson aura poured out from its gaze, locking directly onto Leon. The pressure was suffocating, aimed not at his body but at his very soul.

Leon grimaced slightly.

He knew this ability well. Several high-tier monsters possessed something similar.

Wyvern Glare imposed a powerful debuff that reduced the enemy’s combat power by twenty percent. Against an opponent this strong, such a debuff could easily decide the outcome of the battle.

With the wyvern’s already absurd combat power, this was meant to make the fight completely one-sided.

But nothing happened. Leon stood still, unaffected.

And…

Ding!

[A “Celestial” cannot be affected by such effects.]

[You have learned the passive skill “Unshaken” linked to your “Celestial” title.]

Leon blinked.

“Oh?”

[Unshaken: No matter what happens, you will never feel fear or intimidation when facing enemies. All intimidation-based and fear-based debuffs are nullified.]

Leon had not expected that.

He already knew his [Celestial] title was powerful, but gaining new passives from it was something he had not considered.

“Interesting,” he muttered quietly.

If this title could still evolve or unlock abilities, then its potential was even greater than he thought. He quickly refocused.

The [Blood Wyvern] did not seem to care that its glare had failed. It opened its jaws, crimson energy gathering deep within its throat.

Blood Flames!

The temperature in the sanctuary spiked instantly as violent heat rolled outward. Leon’s expression hardened.

The problem was not dodging the attack. The problem was that the wyvern was aiming at both him and the [Blood Heart].

If that attack landed on the heart, it could shatter.

And if the heart broke, the challenge would end instantly. With his death.

“How are you even supposed to stop that?” Leon muttered under his breath.

Now he truly understood why nobody had completed this challenge.

Even if someone was strong enough to fight the monsters, the constant pressure of protecting the heart made everything exponentially harder. The [Moon Sect] must have reached this point before. And failed.

Still, Leon smiled.

“You tried to weaken me first,” he said as he rushed forward. “Now it’s my turn.”

Fwish! Slash!

Leon swung his sword, striking the wyvern’s scales. The creature blocked the attack with one claw, sparks flying from the impact.

But the wyvern did not stop charging its flames. Leon grinned wider. Because at that exact moment.

Fwoosh!

[Celestial’s Might has activated!]

Leon’s eyes turned silvery white as overwhelming pressure erupted from his body. The air itself seemed to tremble as that pressure crashed directly into the [Blood Wyvern].

Unlike Leon, the wyvern was not immune. The massive creature let out a pained roar as its body stiffened.

Leon had begun to notice a pattern with [Celestial’s Might]. It did not activate against weak enemies, or even moderately strong ones.

It activated only against beings of extreme power.

The [Undead King]. The guardian tied to the [Core of Poison]. And now this wyvern.

“It isn’t just luck,” Leon thought as he felt the pressure subside. “It triggers against true threats.”

The wyvern’s combat power dropped instantly.

[Blood Wyvern]

[Combat Power: 35,000]

A thirty percent reduction. And more importantly, its [Blood Flames] charge was disrupted.

Leon exhaled slowly. Even so, he did not relax.

Combat power was not everything. The wyvern still had experience, instincts, and deadly skills. Even at reduced strength, it could easily kill someone careless.

ROOOAR!

The wyvern roared again and immediately began charging its flames once more.

Leon clenched his teeth. It was intelligent.

It understood that Leon would die the moment the [Blood Heart] was destroyed.

“I need to kill it before that happens,” Leon said quietly.

He charged forward again, staff and sword moving together.

Powerful Fireball! Storm of Lightning! Crescent Slash!

A barrage of attacks slammed into the wyvern. Flames exploded against its body, lightning wrapped around its scales, and the crescent slash carved across its chest.

The wyvern staggered slightly. But it did not fall. Its scales were too thick. Too resilient.

The damage was real, but not decisive. Leon’s eyes narrowed.

“If Emilia were here,” he mumbled, “her buffs would make this much easier.”

Her [Strength Buff] and [Speed Buff] could have shifted the fight instantly.

But Leon did not allow himself to dwell on that.

If he wanted to advance further in this world, he needed to be able to handle battles like this alone.

Vision Enhancement! Darkness Barrier!

His perception sharpened as shadows wrapped around his body. Leon rushed forward again, blade flashing.

Slash! Slash!

The wyvern retaliated fiercely, claws and tail crashing down. Sparks flew as blade met scale. The air rang with every collision.

The exchange was brutal and relentless. And then…

SLASH!

Leon found an opening.

His sword carved cleanly through one of the wyvern’s arms. Blood sprayed across the sanctuary as the limb fell to the ground.

The wyvern screamed in fury. Leon did not stop.

Shadow Slash!

His body dissolved into darkness, vanishing from sight as he moved to strike from the shadows.

Normally, this would have ended the fight. But this time, Leon made a mistake.

The wyvern did not stop charging its attack even as Leon cut off its arm and disappeared. In fact, it accelerated.

The creature opened its jaws wide, eyes locking directly onto the [Blood Heart].

Blood Flames!

Crimson fire erupted forward in a violent torrent.

“Oh shit!”

Leon’s eyes widened. His shadow-infused strike sliced through the wyvern’s head, killing it instantly.

But it was too late. The flames had already been released.

They struck the [Blood Heart] for a brief moment.

And then…

Ding!

[The “Blood Heart” is in critical condition. Defend it no matter what!]

Leon’s face darkened. He did not hesitate.

He rushed forward with everything he had left, knowing that if he failed now, he would die anyway.
