Chapter 71: B-Level Blood Affinity, Blessing An Item
Chapter 71: Chapter 71: B-Level Blood Affinity, Blessing An Item
Leon went through the items one by one, his gaze steady as each panel appeared before him.
[Blood Bear Essence: Consuming will increase Constitution by 8 and Strength by 7.]
[Blood Bear Claw (Epic Material)]
[Blood Bear Fur (Epic Material)]
[Rotten Devout Dagger (Elite): +600 Attack, +350 Strength, +270 Agility. Requirement: Level 25]
[Rotten Devout Robe (Epic): +800 Defense, +400 Spirit, +400 Strength, +250 Agility. Makes users immune to “Decay” and “Weakness”. Requirement: Level 25.]
[Rotten Potion (Legendary): Drink this to be affected by “Weakness”]
[Blood Archer Essence: Consuming will increase Agility by 12.]
These were the rewards from the first three mutated monsters he had killed inside the challenge.
They were good items, solid, valuable, and useful, but none of them truly caught Leon’s attention.
He had seen similar things before. Without hesitation, he consumed the two essences.
Warmth flowed through his body twice in succession, his Constitution, Strength, and Agility quietly increasing as the system confirmed the gains.
The rest of the materials and equipment were sent back into his [Storage Space] without another thought.
He could sell them later. Then, his focus shifted to the last batch of drops.
The items from the [Blood Wyvern]. This was the real prize.
[Skill Stones x7]
[Enhancement Stones x5]
[Blood Wyvern Essence: Consuming will increase all stats by 10.]
[Blood Wyvern Armor (Legendary): +1,500 Defense, +700 Constitution, +500 Spirit, +250 Agility. Prevents “Bleeding”. Requirement: Blood-related sub-talent or skill.]
[Sub-Talent Scroll: Blood Affinity (B-Level)]
“…Damn.”
Leon couldn’t help but let the word slip out.
This was a ridiculous haul.
Even for a challenge boss, these rewards were generous to the point of absurdity. Any one of these items would make waves if placed in the [Trading House], especially the armor and the sub-talent scroll.
As usual, Leon didn’t waste time. He consumed the [Blood Wyvern Essence] immediately.
The effect was far stronger than the previous ones.
A surge of power rushed through his limbs, his mana core pulsing as every single attribute climbed upward at once.
His body adjusted quickly, the system stabilizing the increase without any backlash.
Once that was done, his eyes moved to the final item. The scroll. A blood-type sub-talent.
Leon frowned slightly.
’Blood-type…?’
It wasn’t that he disliked it. It was more that he didn’t see an immediate use for it. Blood-related abilities were niche, and most players avoided them unless they had a specific build in mind.
Selling it wouldn’t fetch much either. Even as a B-Level sub-talent, demand for blood affinity was low.
Still, Leon wasn’t the kind of person to hoard unused power.
And besides, the armor. His gaze shifted back to the [Blood Wyvern Armor].
It was leagues above what he was currently wearing. Leon exhaled and made his decision.
Fwoosh!
Mana flowed into the scroll as he tore it open. The parchment dissolved into crimson light, which rushed straight into his body, merging with his essence.
Ding!
[Congratulations, you have learned the B-Level Sub-Talent: “Blood Affinity”]
[Blood Affinity (B-Level): Your affinity with blood is beyond everyone else’, allowing you to have better control of it.]
The description was vague. Almost annoyingly so.
Leon glanced at it for a moment, then shrugged. He’d figure it out later.
Right now, he had something better to do.
He unequipped his [Dark Sentinel Armor +4 (Rare)], the familiar weight lifting off his shoulders, and immediately equipped the new armor.
The moment the [Blood Wyvern Armor] settled over his body, Leon felt the difference.
“Phew…”
The armor was heavier, sturdier, and carried a faint pressure of its own. It felt alive in a way, resilient, dense, and perfectly suited to absorb punishment.
Bleeding immunity alone made it worth the switch.
With that, Leon had checked every single drop from the [Blood Heart Challenge].
Everything except one thing. The most important thing. His gaze sharpened.
“The [Blood Heart].”
The unique special item bound directly to his body.
According to its description, he could bless a piece of equipment.
The concept of [Blessing] was unknown to him though, which meant… He was about to find out firsthand.
Leon reached into his [Storage Space] and pulled out his weapon of choice. The [Void Staff].
It was his strongest piece of equipment. The core of his build.
If anything deserved the blessing, it was this. Leon closed his eyes and focused inward.
The rhythm of his heartbeat changed, slowly syncing with the steady pulse of the [Blood Heart] embedded in his chest.
A faint warmth spread through him as he reached out, directing its power.
And then—
Ding!
[You have used the “Blood Heart” on the “Void Staff”]
[You have blessed the “Void Staff”]
Fwoosh!
Crimson light erupted around the staff, wrapping it completely. The aura didn’t burn or explode. It flowed.
Like liquid fire, it seeped into the weapon, threading itself along the shaft, sinking deep into the material. The power carved invisible pathways, embedding itself permanently.
When the glow finally faded, faint crimson lines remained etched into the staff, pulsing softly like veins.
Leon didn’t hesitate. He opened the item panel.
—
[Void Staff +2 (Mythical): +1,500 Spirit.]
[Blood Heart Blessing: The “Spirit” bonus of the staff is tripled.]
—
Leon froze. He stared at the panel. Then his eyes widened.
“Holy shit.”
There was no other reaction possible. Tripled.
His staff alone now granted him an absurd amount of Spirit, far beyond what any player at his level should possess.
And instantly, Leon understood. This was what a [Blessing] meant.
An additional effect layered on top of an item.
It could be anything: raw stats, unique bonuses, special effects, or strange perks. And it depended entirely on the equipment being blessed.
Which meant the [Blood Heart] wasn’t just powerful. It was flexible. Dangerously so.
No wonder it was a unique item. No wonder it required such a brutal challenge. In the right hands, this thing could shape an entire build into something monstrous.
Ding!
[Kill monsters to recharge the “Blood Heart” and be able to bless another piece of equipment.]
Leon clicked his tongue softly. He’d have to kill blindly until it was ready again.
Still, he was more than satisfied. Everything about this challenge had gone perfectly.
The gate that led back to the sanctuary opened once more, signaling that he could return to the [Blood Moon Cathedral].
Leon stepped forward. But just as he was about to leave—
Ding!
[You have cleared the “Blood Heart Challenge” and freed Tolkien from his chains, return to him to complete the quest!]
Leon grinned.
“Right. That [Storage Space Expander] is non-negotiable.”
Fwoosh!
He passed through the gate, the scenery shifting instantly.
The moment he returned to the [Blood Moon Cathedral], he stopped.
“…Damn.”
The area was a mess. Dozens of corpses littered the ground: monsters, moon sect devouts, shattered remains scorched by magic.
And in the middle of it all, divine beams of light crashed down from Emilia’s scepter. Spectral flames tore through enemies.
Emilia was still fighting.
She moved with excitement, her spells flying freely as she wiped out anything that dared approach.
Leon stepped forward, amused.
“Are you done?” he asked with a grin.
“Hah?!” Emilia spun around, startled. She looked at the destruction around her, then laughed awkwardly. “H-Haha… I might’ve gone a bit overboard. But hey! I’m level 20 now!”
Leon nodded approvingly.
“Good. I’m level 21. Only four levels until my second assessment. You’re five away. We should reach level 25 soon.”
“Yay!” Emilia beamed. Then she paused. “Though… we still need to defeat the [Zone Boss].”
“Yeah.”
The [Blood Wyvern] had been the challenge boss.
Stronger, more dangerous, but still not the ruler of the zone.
Leon had actually been wondering where the real boss was.
And then—
Fwoosh!
The air trembled.
Crimson light gathered ahead of them, forming a tall figure that radiated authority and pressure.
Leon’s eyes narrowed.
“So that’s it.”
The figure stepped forward, robes flowing, eyes wide with shock.
“Y-You…” it spoke, staring at Leon. “You beat the [Blood Heart Challenge]?!”
The [Zone Boss]. The [Blood Moon Saint].
A high-ranking member of the [Moon Sect], and the strongest among them.
“H-How is this even possible…”
Leon’s grin widened. He didn’t answer. He was already planning how fast he would bring it down.
