Chapter 54: Core of Poison Key, Mythical-Rank Void Staff

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Core of Poison Key, Mythical-Rank Void Staff

Several panels floated neatly in front of Leon’s vision as he carefully inspected his [Storage Space].

Each one was familiar, yet seeing them all together made the rewards feel far more real.

[Sub-Talent Scroll: Poison Resistance (D-Level). Requirement: 1,000 Constitution.]

[Skill Stones x3]

[Enhancement Stones x2]

[Poison Antidote x2: Drink to heal any kind of poison.]

[Core of Poison Key (Legendary): Allows entry to the zone where the “Core of Poison” is.]

“Oh?”

Leon’s eyes lingered on the last item for a moment longer than the others.

Overall, he was extremely satisfied. There was nothing here he could complain about. Skill Stones, Enhancement Stones, antidotes, everything had its use.

But the [Core of Poison Key] stood out immediately.

Keys worked similarly to tokens, but instead of opening dungeons, they granted access to specific zones hidden within the world itself.

These zones were often sealed, unreachable unless you possessed the correct key.

Leon hadn’t even known that a key was required to reach the [Core of Poison]. In his past life, he had only heard fragmented rumors about it, most of them vague or unreliable.

Still, this only confirmed one thing. Killing this boss had been the right call.

If he had ignored it and rushed straight to the exit of the forest like most players did, he would have completely missed this opportunity.

Leon shifted his attention back to the scroll.

Without hesitation, he took out the [Sub-Talent Scroll: Poison Resistance], poured his mana into it, and tore it apart.

Ding!

[Congratulations, you have learned the D-Level Sub-Talent: “Poison Resistance”]

[Poison Resistance (D-Level): Able to resist low-level poison, making you completely immune to it.]

“Nice.”

The word left his mouth naturally, filled with quiet satisfaction.

And almost immediately after—

Ding!

[Your “Poison” has been cured.]

Leon glanced at the notification and nodded to himself.

Poison had several levels, and while this sub-talent wouldn’t make him immune to everything, it ensured that poisons of this tier would never threaten his life.

Against the [Core of Poison], this was huge.

Just approaching it was dangerous. Leon clearly remembered stories of players dying almost instantly simply by getting too close, their bodies overwhelmed by toxic energy before they could even react.

To face that zone safely, you either needed a sub-talent like this, or an absurd amount of [Poison Antidotes], constantly cleansing yourself just to stay alive.

Leon now had both options.

With that done, he moved on to something he had been waiting for ever since he first obtained them: equipping items.

Several pieces of equipment had been sitting in his [Storage Space] for a while now, unusable only because of one simple restriction: level.

And now, he finally met the requirements.

[Shadow Gloves (Epic): +500 Attack, +300 Strength, +150 Agility. Requirement: Level 15.]

[Darkness Fur Boots +4 (Epic): +750 Agility, +400 Constitution. Requirement: Level 15.]

[Void Staff (Mythical): +1,000 Spirit. Requirement: Level 15.]

Leon briefly considered equipping the [Undead Knight Armor +2] as well, but after comparing it again with the [Dark Sentinel Armor +4] he was currently wearing, the decision was easy.

The armor he already had was simply better.

Without wasting time, Leon equipped the [Shadow Gloves], feeling a surge of power run through his arms.

He then replaced his old [Skeleton Staff] with the [Void Staff], the moment his fingers wrapped around it sending a deep, heavy sensation through his body.

Finally, he swapped out his [Nature Boots +2] for the [Darkness Fur Boots +4].

The change was immediate. Leon felt lighter, faster, sturdier.

His mana flow stabilized, his body reinforced, his movements sharper.

He didn’t even need to test it to know, his strength had jumped massively.

Naturally, his gaze shifted to one thing. His [Combat Power].

And the moment he saw it, his breath hitched.

[Combat Power: 10,638 (+20,636)]

“DAMN!”

The number alone was shocking.

His total [Combat Power] had already crossed 30,000.

At his level. This wasn’t just impressive, it was absurd.

Leon knew for a fact that even most players in the level 20 to 25 range wouldn’t be anywhere near this strong.

The only people he could imagine matching him were individuals from eternal-level worlds, those born into absurd advantages from the very start.

Other than them? Leon was completely dominating.

Nearby, Emilia leaned against a tree, watching Leon from the corner of her eye.

She didn’t interrupt him. She knew how this went.

Whenever Leon checked his panels, it usually took a while. And honestly, she didn’t mind.

Moments like this were rare, quiet, peaceful, without monsters rushing at them.

’I’m hungry though,’ she thought, her stomach rumbling slightly.

She casually opened the [Trading House], scrolling through listings in search of anything edible that didn’t look suspicious.

Meanwhile, Leon wasn’t done yet. He still had resources to use.

He reached into his [Storage Space] and pulled everything out, placing it neatly in front of him.

[Skill Stones x19]

[Enhancement Stones x17]

He had been stacking them carefully, saving them for this exact moment.

Level 15. Now, he could finally spend them properly.

Leon decided to start with skills. They were easier to prioritize, and the effects were immediate.

He briefly considered upgrading [Powerful Fireball] to level 7, but that alone would cost 10 Skill Stones.

Too expensive for now. Instead, he focused on something else.

Crushing several [Skill Stones] at once, Leon made his selection.

Ding!

[Congratulations, you have upgraded “Darkness Barrier (Level 1)” to “Darkness Barrier (Level 2)”]

It cost him 7 Skill Stones. Leon didn’t hesitate. Defensive skills were always worth investing in.

[Darkness Barrier (Epic Level 2): Focus the element of darkness into a barrier that can tank several blows.]

The description barely changed, but Leon could feel the difference. The barrier was denser. Stronger.

Both [Crescent Slash] and [Darkness Barrier] were at level 2, both epic-ranked skills.

Still, upgrading either of them to level 3 would require a staggering 10 Skill Stones.

’I won’t be able to spend all of them,’ Leon thought calmly. ’So I’ll use them where it matters most.’

His eyes flicked to another skill: Lightning Strike.

Without hesitation, Leon crushed 10 Skill Stones at once.

Ding!

[Congratulations, you have upgraded “Lightning Strike (Level 3)” to “Storm of Lightning (Level 4)”]

“Name change,” Leon muttered, his eyes glinting.

[Storm of Lightning (Elite Level 4): Focus your Spirit and condense it into a storm of lightning that can hit several targets in an area and possibly stun them.]

“Nice.”

This was a huge improvement.

[Lightning Strike] had always been powerful, but its biggest weakness was its single-target limitation.

Now? It was an area attack.

That alone made it far more dangerous in real combat.

With that done, Leon only had 2 Skill Stones left. He didn’t have enough for any upgrade so he simply stored them back in his [Storage Space].

Next came the [Enhancement Stones]. He glanced at the pile and frowned slightly.

Just like with skills, he didn’t have enough to enhance everything.

Most items required either 7 or 10 Enhancement Stones per upgrade.

That meant he could only improve one or two items.

Leon didn’t hesitate long. There was one obvious choice.

He crushed 15 Enhancement Stones at once and selected his weapon.

Ding!

[You have successfully enhanced your “Void Staff”]

[Void Staff +2 (Mythical): +1,500 Spirit.]

“Nice.”

The cost had been steep, but the result was worth it.

The [Void Staff] was his highest-ranking item, and enhancing it even once had boosted its Spirit bonus by 500.

For Leon, Spirit meant power. Spells hit harder. Skills scaled better. Everything benefited.

He stored the remaining two Enhancement Stones away, saving them for the future.

Finally, Leon exhaled and stretched slightly.

“I’m done,” he said with a grin. “Let’s move.”

Emilia looked up from the [Trading House], nodded, and closed her panel.

“…Alright.”

And just like that, the two of them prepared to move forward once more.
