Chapter 55: Mutated Poison Orcs, C-Level Poison Resistance

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Mutated Poison Orcs, C-Level Poison Resistance

The exit of the [Poison Forest] was located close to where the [Snake of Toxin] boss had appeared, which meant Azaroth and his group of elves were heading in that direction.

Leon and Emilia, however, chose the opposite path. The more dangerous one.

The path that led deeper into the forest, straight toward its center.

In Leon’s past life, he had never once taken this route.

Back then, he hadn’t had the strength, nor the confidence.

The center of the [Poison Forest] was infamous. Players avoided it completely as it was suicide.

This time, though, Leon didn’t hesitate.

With over 30,000 [Combat Power], there was nothing in a level 15 zone that should be able to threaten him.

Even something like the [Undead King], which was once a good foe, would now fall in one or two hits. If he really went all out, he could probably kill it in a single strike.

Still, Leon wasn’t careless enough to assume he was invincible.

“My [Combat Power] is only around 21,000 right now,” Emilia said casually as they moved forward, stepping carefully over roots and damp soil. “And yours is still way higher.”

Leon glanced at her briefly. “Your constitution is so high that it barely matters.”

That was the truth.

Emilia’s [Combat Power] was heavily inflated thanks to her [Title], which multiplied her constitution by five at all times. That alone made her durability absurd.

However, that bonus applied only to constitution. Her strength, agility, and spirit were still normal for her level.

Even so, anyone who looked at her [Combat Power] without knowing the details would be terrified. They wouldn’t realize that most of it came from defense rather than raw offense.

Leon himself was pleasantly surprised by how strong she had become.

If someone had saved her in his past life… if she had survived long enough to grow like this… would she have reached similar heights?

Leon shook the thought away almost immediately.

There was no point dwelling on “what ifs.” This was the present.

As they pushed deeper into the forest, Leon noticed something strange. There were fewer monsters.

The poisonous mist was thicker here, the air heavier, but the usual sounds of movement and growls were mostly absent. It was quiet in an unsettling way, as if the forest itself was holding its breath.

They walked in silence for several minutes. Then, suddenly, the trees opened up into another clearing.

And there, something stood waiting for them. Three figures emerged from the mist.

They were monsters, but unlike the ones they had fought before, these were clearly different.

Fwoosh!

All three were mutated.

[Poison Orc (Mutated)]

[Level: 15]

[Talent: Poison Resistance (D-Level)]

[Combat Power: 12,000]

[Details: These orcs ventured too close to the “Core of Poison” and were mutated.]

Each orc was larger than a normal one, their green skin cracked with glowing toxic veins. Their eyes burned with a dull, poisonous light, and the air around them seemed slightly distorted.

Leon’s gaze immediately locked onto one thing: their talent. Poison Resistance (D-Level).

“I want those,” Leon said quietly.

Emilia didn’t need further explanation.

Spectral Flames!

She lifted her scepter and unleashed a wave of ghostly fire that swept across the clearing. The flames engulfed the three orcs, burning deep into their mutated flesh.

They roared in pain, staggering back—but they didn’t fall.

Instead, all three charged forward at once, their heavy, poison-coated bats swinging with lethal intent.

But Leon had already prepared his response.

Storm of Lightning!

He raised his staff, and sparks exploded into the air around him.

Zap!

A violent storm of lightning crashed down on the clearing, bolts striking all three orcs simultaneously. Electricity surged through their bodies, overwhelming them in an instant.

The sheer amount of spirit Leon had, boosted massively by the [Void Staff], made the attack devastating.

The three orcs collapsed almost immediately, their bodies twitching once before going still.

Ding!

[You have killed “Poison Orc (Mutated)” and gained 900 experience points.]

[100% Drop Rate has triggered…]

Leon wasted no time and checked the drops.

[Poison Orc Essence: Consuming will increase Constitution by 5 and Strength by 3.]

[Poison Bat x3 (Uncommon): +250 Strength, +100 Agility. Applies “Poison” on target. Requirement: Level 15.]

[Sub-Talent Scroll x3: Poison Resistance (D-Level). Requirement: 1,000 Constitution.]

“Perfect.”

This was exactly what he had hoped for.

Leon immediately consumed all three essences, feeling his body strengthen slightly as the bonuses took effect.

[+15 Constitution, +9 Strength.]

Then he picked up one of the sub-talent scrolls and attempted to fuse it with his existing [Poison Resistance].

Fwoosh!

[Fusion failed.]

Leon stared at the panel silently for a second.

“…Figures.”

He tried again with a second scroll.

Ding!

[Fusion successful.]

“Nice.”

[You have evolved “Poison Resistance (D-Level)” to “Poison Resistance (C-Level).]

[Poison Resistance (C-Level): Able to resist low-level and mid-level poison, making you completely immune to it.]

Leon let out a slow breath. This was important.

If he truly intended to reach the [Core of Poison], then this level of resistance was no longer optional, it was mandatory.

Unlike Emilia, his constitution wasn’t absurdly high. He couldn’t rely on raw durability alone.

Leon picked up the third scroll and handed it to Emilia.

“Here,” he said. “Your constitution is probably enough for mid-level poison already, but just in case.”

Emilia accepted the scroll, inspecting it with wide eyes before smiling brightly.

“Thank you!”

She poured her mana into it and crushed the scroll, learning her second sub-talent without hesitation.

As for the three [Poison Bats], Leon opened the [Trading House] and listed them for 150 Eternal Coins each.

They were solid weapons for this level, especially with their poison effect.

The moment he confirmed the listing—

Ding!

[You have sold x3 “Poison Bats” for 450 Eternal Coins.]

“Oh wow.”

Leon blinked.

It seemed people had taken his words seriously. They really were checking his profile constantly.

His reputation wasn’t widespread yet, mostly limited to those who had witnessed the [Shadow Horde] event, but it was clearly growing.

And it would only keep growing as he advanced further into the [Lower Domain].

A wide grin spread across Leon’s face as he closed the panel.

For now, though…

“I’m hungry,” Leon said suddenly, sitting down on the edge of the clearing. “Want to eat something?”

Emilia’s eyes lit up instantly.

“Hell yeah!”

Leon searched the [Trading House] and bought some [Serpent Meat]. It wasn’t fancy, but it would do.

He used [Powerful Fireball] to create a small controlled flame, and the two of them roasted the meat over it. The smell filled the clearing as the toxic mist slowly drifted around them.

After a few minutes, they started eating.

“It’s… decent,” Emilia said, chewing slowly. “No sauce and no spices though.”

“Well,” Leon sighed, “we don’t exactly have a kitchen yet.”

He knew that later on, food in [Eternal Ascension] would become much better, though also far more expensive.

“But,” Emilia said suddenly, nodding to herself, “I think I figured out your talent.”

Leon raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”

He was honestly curious. At this point, it wasn’t hard to guess that his luck looked abnormal.

“Max Luck,” Emilia said confidently. “It boosts your luck like crazy. That’s why you always get items and end up in situations like this.”

Leon stared at her for a brief moment. Then he laughed.

“Wrong.”

“Seriously?!”

“Close,” Leon replied, still smiling. “But wrong. Try again next time.”

“Tch… damn it.”

They finished eating, rested for a few more minutes, then stood up.

Without another word, the two of them continued forward, heading deeper into the forest, toward the very heart of the [Poison Forest], eager to see what awaited them at its center.
