Chapter 48: Dominating The Event, Mythical Treasure Chest

Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Dominating The Event, Mythical Treasure Chest

Fwish!

Leon moved through the battlefield like a streak of light as he engaged the leader of the darkness wolves.

The creature stood at the center of the chaos, towering over the other monsters as if it ruled the entire area.

Its body was larger than the rest, its fur darker, thicker, and constantly releasing waves of shadow that twisted the air around it.

Wherever it stepped, the ground cracked and dimmed, as if light itself refused to linger near it.

Around the leader, players were struggling just to stay alive.

Slash! Slash!

The wolf leader swung its massive claws without hesitation.

Two players who were just a bit too slow were caught in its reach.

The claws passed through them effortlessly, tearing armor apart like paper.

Their bodies split into pieces before they even had time to scream, and their bodies lay there, killed instantly.

Blood hadn’t even touched the ground before the smaller darkness wolves rushed in again.

They moved in packs, circling players, biting at legs, tearing into backs, and forcing everyone to split their attention.

Every time someone tried to focus on the leader, the smaller wolves punished them.

It was chaos. This wasn’t just a strong monster.

It truly deserved to be called an event boss.

But even as players panicked, shouted, and fell one after another, Leon felt none of that fear.

He stood his ground. His eyes were calm as he faced the wolf leader directly.

Darkness Barrier!

A familiar wave of shadow wrapped around Leon’s body, forming a barrier almost identical to the one surrounding the boss. The dark surface rippled slightly, dense and stable.

Without hesitating, Leon rushed forward.

Powerful Fireball! Lightning Strike!

Two spells activated at the same time. The fireball burned with intense heat, its core glowing white-hot as it tore through the air.

Lightning followed immediately after, crackling violently as it descended with terrifying speed.

BOOM!

Both attacks slammed directly into the wolf leader’s barrier.

Most players had already tried something similar. Their spells, skills, and attacks had all hit the barrier before, only to disperse harmlessly, leaving no mark at all.

But Leon was different.

Crack!

A sharp sound echoed across the battlefield.

A massive crack spread across the darkness barrier protecting the wolf leader, splitting the shadow like shattered glass.

For a brief moment, everything froze. Players nearby stared in disbelief.

Leon’s attacks had actually damaged it.

The reason was simple: Leon’s spirit was extremely high.

Spirit didn’t just increase mana or spell control. It directly boosted the damage dealt by magic attacks, stacking on top of skill level and quality.

Against a barrier-based defense, spirit mattered more than anything else. And Leon had plenty of it.

ROOAR!

The shadow wolves leader let out a furious roar, shaking the battlefield.

The moment it noticed the crack, it abandoned everything else.

Its eyes locked onto Leon. All of its killing intent focused on him alone.

The smaller wolves hesitated for a split second, sensing the shift in their leader’s attention. Then the leader charged.

It moved with explosive speed, crossing the distance in an instant. Its claws came down in a brutal strike aimed directly at Leon.

Slash!

The claws collided with Leon’s Darkness Barrier. But nothing happened.

The barrier didn’t even shake. The wolf leader froze mid-motion, its eyes widening slightly.

It attacked again.

Slash!

Still nothing.

The barrier remained perfectly intact, as if the attack had never happened at all.

Leon’s sub-talent was the evolved form of what the shadow wolves leader possessed.

The B-Level [Vessel of Darkness] talent wasn’t just stronger, it completely dominated darkness-based abilities.

Against darkness-element enemies, Leon held an overwhelming advantage.

To them, he was something higher. Something untouchable.

“Roar?”

The wolf leader tilted its head slightly, genuine confusion flickering in its eyes.

But it didn’t get time to think any further.

Slash!

Leon moved.

His sword flashed through the air several times in quick succession. Each strike carried clean precision, cutting through the cracked barrier like it wasn’t there at all.

The darkness barrier shattered completely.

Before the leader could react, Leon stepped in and swung once more.

The blade passed cleanly through the wolf leader’s neck.

Its massive head flew into the air before crashing heavily onto the ground.

The body collapsed a moment later. The battlefield fell silent.

“Nice!” Emilia shouted from afar, her voice filled with excitement.

Ding!

[You have killed 48 “Darkness Wolves” and gained 19,200 experience points!]

[You have killed “Darkness Wolves Leader (Event Boss)” and gained 5,000 experience points.]

[100% Drop Rate has triggered…]

“Holy hell,” Leon muttered, grinning as he saw the experience numbers.

They were massive. And of course, with that much experience…

Ding!

[Congratulations, you have leveled up to Level 14!]

[Due to “Heaven’s Blessing”, you have gained 100 points in all attributes and 100 free points to distribute.]

A warm sensation spread through Leon’s body as his constitution, strength, agility, and spirit surged again.

He felt even sharper than before.

And right at that moment, just as the wolf leader’s head finished rolling across the ground, another announcement rang out.

Ding!

[Player “Celestial” has killed the “Shadow Wolves Leader” and thus gained 300 Points.]

Everyone participating in the event saw the announcement.

No matter where they were on the battlefield, no matter what they were doing, they all saw it.

And the meaning was clear. The event was decided. No one else stood a chance.

The remaining minutes passed calmly.

Without their leader, the darkness wolves were nothing more than experience fodder.

Players worked together, finishing them off one by one. There were no more desperate struggles, no more panic.

Soon enough…

Ding!

[The “Shadow Horde” event is now over.]

[You will receive your rewards based on your ranking in the event leaderboard.]

[May the will of the “Heavenly One” be with you.]

The panels appeared and vanished. Just like that, the first event of Leon’s new life was over.

Leon walked back to Emilia, a wide grin still on his face.

Ding!

[You have ranked first in the event.]

[Reward: Mythical Treasure Chest.]

The chest was instantly placed into his storage space along with everything else he had obtained.

“I was third overall,” Emilia said as she checked the [Event Leaderboard]. “So I got a [Legendary Treasure Chest] and 50 free attribute points.”

“That’s decent,” Leon replied with a nod.

Around them, many players sat down on the ground, exhausted. Others returned to [Hub City] immediately, their expressions still tense as they checked their panels.

Even though Leon felt the event hadn’t been that difficult, for most of them, it had been a true life-or-death battle.

Emilia pulled her chest out of her inventory, and it dropped onto the ground with a heavy thud. It glowed with a bright golden light.

“Wow!” Her eyes sparkled. “This is insane…!”

Leon calmly pulled out his own chest from his [Storage Space].

Bam!

The [Mythical Treasure Chest] appeared in front of him, resting on the ground. Its golden glow was purer, brighter, and far more intense than the legendary one beside it.

Some might have wondered why Leon didn’t simply open Emilia’s chest for her: with his talent, he would receive all the items inside anyway.

But Leon didn’t even try.

[Eternal Ascension] clearly recorded ownership. A treasure chest could only be opened by its rightful owner.

So Leon focused on his own. He extended his hand and opened it.

Ding!

[100% Drop Rate has triggered, all items inside of the treasure chest have been placed into storage space.]

“Haha…” Leon chuckled softly as he checked his [Storage Space].

[Darkness Wolf Claw x20 (Epic)]

[Darkness Fur Boots +4 (Epic): +750 Agility, +400 Constitution. Requirement: Level 15.]

[Darkness Fur Boots +3 (x3)]

He had been fusing boots throughout the battle, so having several upgraded pairs made sense. The extras would sell well, and he wasn’t willing to risk fusing them further.

Then he checked the drops from the boss itself.

[Skill Book: Darkness Barrier (Epic)]

[Sub-Talent Scroll: Darkness Manipulation (C-Level)]

[Skill Stones x3]

[Shadow Gloves (Epic): +500 Attack, +300 Strength, +150 Agility. Requirement: Level 15.]

“Pretty good,” Leon said quietly.

Finally, he turned his attention to the contents of the [Mythical Treasure Chest].

[Void Staff (Mythical): +1,000 Spirit. Requirement: Level 15.]

[Sub-Talent Scrolls: Constitution Enhancement (E-Level), Strength Enhancement (F-Level).]

[Skill Stones x15]

[Enhancement Stones x15]

[Elemental Necklace (Mythical): Boosts the power of elemental attacks by 25%.]

[Skills Books: Shadow Arrows (Legendary), Shadow Slash (Legendary).]

[Advanced All-Attributes Pill: Increases all attributes by 75.]

Every single item was powerful. But at the very bottom of the list, Leon noticed one final item.

And it read:

[Farlands Token (Mythical): Allows the user to enter the “Farlands”, the most difficult dungeon of the “Lower Domain”].
