Chapter 47: The Event Boss, Darkness Wolves Leader
Chapter 47: Chapter 47: The Event Boss, Darkness Wolves Leader
The final wave of the event finally revealed itself, and with it came the most dangerous presence on the battlefield.
“The Event Boss is here,” Leon said calmly as he glanced toward Emilia. “Stay sharp.”
Much like dungeons and zones that possessed a zone boss, large-scale events also had what players referred to as an event boss.
It was the strongest monster tied to the event itself, the core threat meant to push participants to their limits.
If left unchecked, it could wipe out entire groups, ruin rankings, and turn a promising start into complete failure.
And now, it had arrived.
In the distance, the remaining players watched as a massive figure emerged from the dark fog.
Even before its status panel appeared, its sheer presence alone made the air feel heavier.
The creature stood nearly five meters tall, its body shaped like a colossal wolf standing on powerful limbs.
Its fur flowed unnaturally, rippling like shadows caught in water, while its crimson eyes burned with intelligence and malice.
Long, jagged fangs protruded from its maw, each one gleaming as if forged from darkness itself.
Leon activated appraisal without hesitation.
—
[Darkness Wolves Leader (Event Boss)]
[Level: 15]
[Talent: Darkness Manipulation (C-Level)]
[Combat Power: 15,000]
[Details: Leader of the darkness wolves.]
—
A murmur rippled through the battlefield.
Fifteen thousand combat power.
That number alone crushed the morale of many players who were still standing.
For most of them, even reaching half of that would have been considered extraordinary.
Facing something at this level, especially after enduring two exhausting waves, felt impossible.
And the nightmare didn’t end there.
As the leader stepped forward, hundreds of smaller figures emerged beside it.
Though much smaller than their leader, they radiated an oppressive presence of their own, moving with lethal coordination.

[Darkness Wolf]
[Level: 15]
[Exclusive Talent: Kin of Darkness]
[Combat Power: 9,000]
[Details: Wolves born from darkness that follow the will of their leader.]
—
“Holy shit… there’s no way we can win this.”
“Should we fall back? If we die now, it’s over.”
“But if we leave, we lose all our points…”
Fear spread quickly. Many players hesitated, torn between survival and ambition.
Some backed away instinctively, while others stood frozen, their confidence shattered by the overwhelming power displayed before them.
Leon, however, didn’t move.
He stood still, sword resting loosely in his hand, his expression calm and unreadable.
Compared to the [Undead King] and the enemies inside the [Undead Temple], these monsters weren’t anything special. Strong, yes, but not beyond him.
Instead of panicking, Leon used the brief window before the wolves closed the distance to check his [Storage Space].
After nonstop fusions during the second wave, something remarkable had happened.
One of the armors had reached its max level.
[Dark Sentinel Armor +4 (Rare): +1,000 Defense, +600 Constitution, -10 Agility. Requirement: At least one darkness-based skill, trait, or sub-talent.]
“…Damn,” Leon muttered.
The difference was massive. This piece alone eclipsed anything he had worn so far.
Without hesitation, he removed the [Earth Snake Armor +2] and equipped the new armor.
The moment it settled onto his body, he could feel the defensive boost immediately, like an invisible wall reinforcing his frame.
Then he looked up. The darkness wolves were already close enough to see their distorted reflections in his blade.
’I’ll need to keep consuming drops and managing my storage mid-fight,’ Leon thought calmly. ’This is going to be messy.’
But before the clash truly began—
Fwoosh!
An arrow shot through the air from behind Leon and Emilia, cutting past them with terrifying speed. It slammed directly into the [Darkness Wolves Leader].
For a split second, everything went silent.
Then—
BOOM!
A violent explosion erupted around the leader’s head, sending fragments of shadow flying outward.
The blast staggered the massive beast, tearing through part of its dark fur and drawing an enraged roar from its throat.
It didn’t die. But it was clearly injured.
Leon and Emilia exchanged a sharp look. They both recognized that attack.
It was the same explosive arrow that had targeted them earlier while they were heading toward [Hub City].
“That means…” Emilia muttered.
“The player killers are here,” Leon finished, his gaze hardening.
He immediately turned around, scanning the crowd, but found nothing obvious. Dozens of players wielded bows. Pinpointing the attacker in this chaos was nearly impossible.
Still, one thing was certain.
“Be careful,” Leon said quietly. “They already tried to kill us once. There’s no reason to believe they won’t try again.”
Even if they didn’t act immediately, the fact that they had attacked at all meant they were prepared for confrontation.
Leon didn’t hesitate.
Powerful Fireball!
The blazing sphere shot forward and slammed into the leader’s face, exploding on impact and tearing away more of its shadowy flesh.
Divine Beam!
Emilia followed instantly, her beam of holy light scorching the monster’s side and forcing another roar from its throat.
In less than ten seconds, the Event Boss had taken heavy damage. That alone was shocking.
But what truly caught Leon’s attention was the arrow from before. Anyone capable of dealing that much damage in a single strike was no ordinary player.
’Combat power above ten thousand, at least,’ Leon concluded.
Even so, he wasn’t worried. No matter how strong they were, they wouldn’t stand a chance against him head-on.
The darkness wolves finally closed the distance, leaping toward the frontline players.
“ARGH!”
“Watch out!”
Claws slashed through the air as wolves lunged at anything within reach. Some players were sent flying, others barely managed to block or dodge in time.
Three darkness wolves targeted Leon at once. They never stood a chance.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
Their bodies dissolved into smoke almost instantly.
Ding!
[You have killed x3 “Darkness Wolves” and gained 1,200 experience points.]
[100% Drop Rate has triggered. Items have been automatically placed in your storage space.]
[You have obtained 12 Points.]
Leon’s lips curved into a grin. ’That experience gain is ridiculous, also 4 points per monsters now.’
He spared a quick glance at the drops, already planning how to manage them mid-battle.
[Darkness Wolf Claw x2 (Epic)]
[Darkness Fur Boots (Epic): +250 Agility, +100 Constitution. Requirement: Level 15.]
No essences. That was a slight disappointment, but the materials themselves were valuable.
The claws could be used to craft high-grade weapons, and the boots were solid equipment.
’I’ll either sell these or bring them to a blacksmith,’ Leon decided.
Materials couldn’t be fused, so he’d have to manage storage carefully. Still, everything here had value, and that was good enough.
ROOOAR!
A thunderous roar shook the battlefield.
The leader, enraged by the death of its kin and its own worsening injuries, unleashed its power. A dark aura spread outward from its body, enveloping the remaining wolves.
—
[Darkness Wolf]
[Combat Power: 10,500]
—
Their stats surged instantly. Their movements became sharper, their claws deadlier, their presence far more oppressive.
For most players, this was the breaking point.
Slash! Slash!
He cut down every wolf that came too close, his blade moving with brutal efficiency. Bodies piled up around him as minutes passed.
After fifteen minutes, dozens of darkness wolves had fallen at his feet.
The true problem, however, remained the leader.
As its health dropped further, it activated a familiar skill: [Darkness Barrier].
The same skill Leon possessed.
And combined with its C-Level talent [Darkness Manipulation], the barrier was absurdly strong.
Attacks from all directions slammed into it, arrows, spells, sword strikes, but they only managed to crack the surface.
Ding!
[Only 10 minutes remain.]
Most of the darkness wolves were dead now, but the leader and the elite wolves guarding it held their ground stubbornly.
The Event Boss was worth an enormous amount of points.
Whoever landed the killing blow would secure their position at the top.
Leon’s gaze sharpened.
“I’m ending this,” he said calmly, stepping forward. “Buff my strength.”
Emilia didn’t hesitate.
Strength Buff!
Her magic surged, wrapping Leon in a powerful aura that doubled his strength. Leon felt it instantly.
The power coursed through his body, his grip tightening on his sword as he charged forward.
