Chapter 476: Leon VS Soul Soldier [3]

The Soul Soldier’s anger had grown tremendously, almost reaching its peak, and as a result, the silver heart in its chest distorted beyond measure, its soul becoming more unstable with each passing second.

’I guess being able to see the soul directly is crazy,’ Leon thought, ’Without seeing it, you wouldn’t realize how unstable it becomes.’

Still, that meant nothing, as the Soul Soldier could be seen having a hard time even standing up, its body failing it as the poison and damage accumulated.

But it was at that moment that Leon wanted to engage the final part of the plan, AKA, actually killing the Soul Soldier, his eyes locking onto Celeste.

He gave a quick glimpse at the phoenix girl, whose eyes widened as she realized, and she nodded, understanding what he was about to do.

Then Leon rushed toward Celeste, grabbing her by the waist, and immediately using Abyss Teleportation, the wormhole opening around them.

There were two things he discovered during this battle when it came to Abyss Teleportation.

The first being that much like the World Map, as long as he held onto someone while teleporting, they would also pass through the wormhole and be transported.

And the second... was there was only a 0.01 second delay between each time he could teleport, meaning he could do it infinitely, the rifts allowing for rapid movement.

He had set up a third abyss rift right behind where the Soul Soldier currently was, waiting for the opportunity to strike, the wormhole hidden from view.

Fwoosh!

He and Celeste vanished from their spot and appeared behind the Soul Soldier.

The latter, using [Flame Boost] with Pyra to boost the power of her embers, as well as being passively boosted by the [Flame Boost (Ancient)] skill and her new [Supreme Flame Affinity (S+)] sub-talent, made her ember grow to a tremendously new high power, the flames burning with intense heat.

In an instant, the Soul Soldier turned to try to defend itself, swinging its sword, but Leon met it head on to protect Celeste, his blade clashing against the Soul Soldier’s with all his strength.

And at that moment, when her darkness ember’s power reached its peak, Celeste swung her spear forward, hitting the Soul Soldier’s soul directly, the dark flames consuming the silver heart.

And...

Crack... BAM!

Cracks spread all over it, thousands more than when Cavin was the one to attack, the fissures deepening with each passing second.

Celeste’s attack had surpassed Cavin’s soul attack, but more importantly, since the Soul Soldier was getting weak, so was its soul, the damage accumulating beyond repair.

As the cracks on its soul increased, the Soul Soldier stepped back and fell to its knees.

Its entire body was shaking as it was unable to move, the silver light within its chest flickering like a dying star

The damage on its soul was massive, and moving too much might actually result in its shattering completely, ending its existence in an instant.

Every twitch of its muscles sent waves of agony through its form, and it could feel its very essence beginning to unravel.

This meant that it was at the mercy of the four players around it, though still, if it could simply heal its soul... it could stand back up and use everything it has on them, turning the tide once more.

In fact, this strategy seemed to work for a few seconds, the cracks slowly sealing themselves as the Soul Soldier focused its remaining power on recovery.

Violet and Emilia threw their attacks at the Soul Soldier, who was injured by them, but still held on, its body absorbing the blows.

The frost from Violet’s rapier spread across its armor, and Emilia’s spells heavily injured its form, but the creature refused to fall, its will to survive stronger than their combined assault.

Every time its soul seemed like it was about to burst, the cracks healed, though only for them to return a second later, the damage too great to fully repair.

It was a cycle of destruction and regeneration, each round leaving the Soul Soldier weaker than before.

The Soul Soldier’s [Soul Protection] sub-talent was truly doing its job, making sure to preserve its owner even in the face of certain death.

The ability was remarkable, a testament to the God of Soul’s power, and it refused to let its servant die so easily.

Though in contrast, it also meant that it was unbearably painful, the creature experiencing agony with each passing moment.

Once your soul shattered, you would die instantly without even feeling a thing, but trying to resist that made the Soul Soldier feel intense pain, its body trembling with each wave.

Seeing this directly made Leon shudder at the thought of acquiring this sub-talent and having the same thing happen to him, the risk far greater than he had anticipated.

The pain the Soul Soldier was experiencing was something he would only wish on the gods and their servants.

And yet, it didn’t matter, he still needed it for what he wanted to do in the future, the power it offered too valuable to pass up.

With enemies like the gods waiting for him, or even Cavin, he couldn’t afford to be picky about where his strength came from.

And so with everything he had, Leon focused on the last skill he acquired, which was also the most powerful one in his arsenal: Void Detonation.

The moment he used it, a small black sphere appeared at the tip of Leon’s staff, which started to grow larger and larger every instant, the darkness within it deepening as it consumed the light around it.

The void energy erupting around it made even the girls cautious as they looked at it, their instincts screaming at them to stay away.

The air around the sphere seemed to warp and twist, reality itself bending under the weight of its power.

Even without knowing what Void was, you could still sense that touching this thing would erase you, your very existence consumed by the emptiness.

It was a primal fear, one that bypassed all logic and reason, striking at the very core of your being.

Sensing it too, the Soul Soldier lifted its gaze to stare at Leon, and he simply looked back, a blank look on his face.

’Let’s end this,’ he thought, ready to unleash everything.
