Chapter 475: Leon VS Soul Soldier [2]

The Soul Soldier was now in the air, and noticing that the human and the girls were behind, it immediately tried to use its sword as leverage to push itself toward them.

While this happened, Leon noticed that the glow coming out from the Soul Soldier’s eyes was only getting stronger, the light intensifying with each passing second.

The more angry it got, the more powerful it became, but more interestingly, its "Soul" also became more unstable as it got angrier, the glow flickering erratically.

’Perhaps that’s the way to beat it,’ Leon thought, his mind racing with possibilities, ’After all, that thing is too tanky, and I have no way of truly harming its soul.’

Even if he slashed at the silver heart directly, either the attack wouldn’t work, or even if it did, it wouldn’t do anything.

In fact, Celeste’s Darkness Embers would likely be useless as well, simply because of the [Soul Protection] sub-talent.

The Soul Soldier landed on the ground with a heavy thud, its eyes fixed on Leon with renewed intensity, the crimson glow within them burning brighter than ever before.

It raised its sword, and the silver heart in its chest began to pulse faster, as if the creature’s very soul was responding to its rage.

It immediately lunged toward him and the girls to attack them at lightning speed, swinging its blade fast enough to create a sonic boom that echoed across the plaza.

Leon quickly deflected the blow though, before any of the girls could react, and began to clash with the Soul Soldier repeatedly, their weapons meeting in a shower of sparks with each strike.

At the same time, Violet didn’t remain idle and quickly reacted as she swung her rapier, making frost erupt all over the spot where the Soul Soldier was, the ice spreading across the ground in a wide arc.

It instantly froze over its armor, encasing the silver metal in a layer of frost, but even then, the Soul Soldier shattered the ice in an instant, its strength too great to be contained.

Emilia pointed her scepter forward and used her maxed out Divine Wrath as well, the beam charging for a few seconds before being fired, the energy building to a blinding intensity.

The Soul Soldier sensed the attack, and noticing just how powerful it was, it was actually forced to react, its instincts screaming at it to defend.

It slammed its foot against the ground as a barrier of silver chains appeared, blocking the blast, though only for a few seconds as it tore through the barrier and boomed forward.

While it was dodging, Leon took this as an opportunity to launch another one of his newly acquired skills, his eyes gleaming with determination.

Venom Nova!

[Venom Nova (Legendary Lv.5): Release a massive explosion of venom that spreads across the battlefield, poisoning all enemies caught in the blast and dealing damage over time.]

Leon raised his staff high, and from its tip, a massive orb of concentrated venom began to form, its surface bubbling and hissing as the toxic liquid swirled within.

He thrust the staff forward, and the orb exploded outward in a massive wave of green liquid that spread across the entire battlefield, covering everything in its path.

The Soul Soldier tried to avoid it, leaping backward and attempting to create distance, but the Venom Nova’s radius was far too large, the wave of poison spreading faster than it could retreat.

The venom hit the Soul Soldier directly, coating its armor in a layer of toxic sludge, but more importantly, it seeped into the mouth in its chest, the one that housed its exposed soul, and instantly poisoned it from within.

The Soul Soldier stumbled as the high-level poison took over its body, its movements becoming erratic and uncoordinated.

Even for a being like this, being hit by such high poison without any way to resist could be fatal, the toxins attacking its very essence.

In fact, even if the Soul Soldier didn’t die from it, it was permanently crippled, its body wracked with pain and its movements slowed.

Even the mouth in its chest began to cough blood as the Soul Soldier found it hard to find its footing, its legs trembling beneath it.

It swung its sword with all its strength, charging it with the power to attack the soul directly but... it missed, the blade passing harmlessly through the air where Leon had been standing moments before.

’Holy shit, I didn’t expect Venom Nova to be this strong,’ Leon thought, his eyes widening with surprise.

Between the three skills Leon acquired, Venom Nova was lowest ranked one, being at legendary, so he didn’t expect much, especially with poison.

And yet, even a being like the Soul Soldier was affected, its body failing it as the poison spread through its system.

Of course, without Celestial’s Might having reduced its stats, the Soul Soldier would have likely been able to tank the poison by sheer constitution, its body resistant to such attacks.

But now, it showed that even monsters and beings with a combat power above 20 million could be affected by the poison.

Below, and they would likely die quickly from the poison’s effects, their lives snuffed out in moments.

Right after it missed, Alphox came out of Leon’s pet space without even him ordering him too, and slashed at the Soul Soldier, his claws gleaming with power.

Alphox’s claws were strong enough to tear through the armor, a three clawed dent appearing on it as the Soul Soldier backed away, its form retreating from the unexpected assault.

The battle continued, the Soul Soldier raising its sword and summoning a massive storm of silver blades that rained down from above, each one aimed at the group with deadly precision.

Emilia quickly raised a barrier of bones using Bone Shuffle though, forming a giant shield that deflected the blades.

In addition to that, Pyra also used Flame Dome to surround the group just in case.

The Soul Soldier then followed up with a devastating soul beam, a concentrated blast of silver energy that tore through the air toward Leon.

He managed to dodge easily due to the monster’s precision having dropped tremendously.

Violet quickly froze the ground beneath the Soul Soldier, causing it to stumble and miss its next attack.

The group worked together, deflecting and dodging each strike, their coordination keeping them alive against the overwhelming power of their enemy.

’Incredible,’ Leon thought as he gazed at the group, ’Perhaps it’s because we’ve been together for months, but without even having to talk to one another, we know what to do.’

But still, there was still just a few more steps before he could end this battle for good.
